Mark, at 54 and just getting into bowling only 3 years ago now I've been lucky to have a couple of good people around me to get me going in this sport but I just got your book last week and have been watching videos and since I've adopted one or two of the timing adjustments from the book I've been on the lanes 3 times and have been 30-35 pins over my average consistently. Yes, small sample size but I just feel different and I've had a few people comment on how different I look in such a short period of time. I'm working with less effort, throwing a more consistent ball and understanding a little better when I push or pull the ball. I'm going to implement more (slowly) but wanted to thank you for spelling this out in a very simple yet precise manner.
I spend 4 hours with Mark, at Fountain Bowl, as well as taking my son to one of his camps in Vancouver, Washington (Dan Husted and Mark put on the camp). Since I'm an old guy, it took me a while to integrate everything Mark had taught me. Then this COVID crap hit and sidelined everyone until things opened up toward the middle of September. Since the gyms were closed, I spend a lot of time at baseball fields, using bands as my weights. Working with Mark was not only a real treat, I learned a lot about my game. We sat down and he showed me what pro I resembled (Bill O'Neil), and he showed me also how simple this pro's game was. And why I haven't been able to repeat my shots. The downtime really didn't hurt me much because I was doing other things to stay in bowling (and physical) shape. After 6 weeks, I'm averaging 219 in league, shooting 760 a couple weeks back (with a 290 game that set). The best part about working with Mark (in my opinion) was learning how to quickly change when things are not going the way I planned. Like carrying 10-pins. A quick adjustment, and they fall like dominos. Just staying within myself and being able to see (and feel) when something is wrong. That, to me, was the key difference maker. Now if I can just get my kid to remember what he was taught :) Thanks Mark!!
COME TO LAWRENCEVILLE, GA PLEASE....!!! IT'S A BUNCH OF US VETERANS!! I'VE COME FROM BOWLING AN AVERAGE OF 150-160 TO WINNING IN ALL CATEGORIES IN MY SUNDAY LEAGUE! I'M CONSTANTLY ROLLING 600 SERIES, I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN BOWLING A YEAR YET. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS, ONE VIDEO CHANGED MY BOWLING COMPLETELY, WHAT'S CRAZY IS THAT EVERYTHING CHANGED IMMEDIATELY FOR ME!
I've been thinking about virtual lessons; I think now after looking at a number of different websites.....I'm going to have to go with Mr. Baker for my lessons. I'm really impressed with how he teaches; I'll be signing up soon!
After watching this, I tend to do the opposite: I get fast with my feet, it slows my swing down, MURDERS my timing (I'll push the ball away as late as the FOURTH step on a five step approach) and it causes me to not only get less RPMs but also spin it like a helicopter. We're talking OVER 90 degree axis tilt. If I'm lucky I washout. My only solution, paradoxically, is to slow EVERYTHING down. I wonder if Bakes has worked with anyone who has those kinds of issues?
This dude's book should be a staple for anyone looking to rebuild or build the fundamentals of bowling. Great video as well
Mark: been a fan of yours since the 1980’s. Thanks for your contribution to the sport. You’re the best.
Great job Mr. Baker. You have always been a great instructor!

Hi Mark. What is the best part of the lane to spot when bowling and which do you use. Thanks
If I bowled all strikes and 1 spare in the 6th frame what’s my score for the game ?
@@MrKillah1978 depends on how many pins you left in the sixth
@@MrKillah1978two seventy something lol
what if you don't use your legs at all bowling? i say that cause i am a wheelchair bowler
Thanks Mark, but I am throwing the ball harder than I was before the Pandemic.
Thats amazing! Legs must be working!
