I love how Tarantino talks about movies as if he's just an everyday movie fan and not one of the most important directors in Hollywood.
Absolutely.
That’s what makes him the most important directors in Hollywood, he loves movies
@javialacarga you must have had a lengthy discussion with him to come to that conclusion, such an arrogant snob
Well he is first and foremost a movie enthousiast
@@xMsry7 He literally states 'So in my opinion' - also there's probably thousands of hours of footage from Tarantino's 'lengthy discussion' about movies, so his opinion is obviously not taken from thin air.
I love how Quentin expresses his emotions while speaking
That’s what makes for a great director. If you can’t express your emotions outwardly as exaggeratedly as possible, well then you can’t express your vision to the full extent.
He always looks disgusted.

Let's all be honest, Fury Road is so much better than we all thought it would be.
+BSproduction74 For me it was the most Unexpected and Impressive best movie of all time.
I remember when i watched the poster and then the trailer in the theather for the first time and I thought "This is going to suck, another pointless remake or sequel with better effects and more action to entertain the people"
And after that i discovered it'll be directed from the same director of the original but knowing that he directed Babe and Happy Feet and I thought "Interesting, I'll wait till the movie comes out to see if the movie will be awesome" because, let's all be honest, the movies was looking fucking awesome with all those amazing trailers. I watched the movie and I couldn't believe what my eyes did just witness. After watching awful movies like Furious 7 and with all the awful movies behind it, I came out from the theather with the happiest face ever. Best movie of the year if possible of the decade
+Vincenzo Capriotti HEY! Babe was a great movie!!!
Yeah, also considering the fact that he saved the pig killer in thunderdome
+BSproduction74 Opposite for me
BSprod. i KNEW it would be great, like the other 3. you ppl today are so jaded by fucking rumors, critic you lose touch in great or just fun movies like batman v superman, x-men apocalypse, i never listen to critics or idiots on here or forums, facebbok whining about what they read or guessed without seeing shit on their own! like game of thrones a great example....
“What is your favorite movie”?
45 minutes later: “.............and that is why Hitchcock never casted John Wayne”
give him enough time and he will start talking about future movies which none of the cast and crew are born yet
Best comment on UA-cam lmao
@@tshirt_ he will start talking finn wolfhard won oscar in the future
Wtf are you talking about? He was on point .
That would have made an interesting pairing actually. I’m not sure what Hitchcock could have done with John Wayne though. I want to hear Tarantino’s explanation now.
I love you, Quentin.
Cevahir Ileri- You say that a lot.
Cevahir Ileri god, you’re annoying
Never stop loving him dude
Cevahir Ileri What's wrong with the weirdos voice here pal?

DUH he wrote the great true romance that's why he put mad max in there jeez...ALL his movies have a line about actors or movies he likes/grew up on...
Sidewinder Yeah, Tarantino's commentary track on the blu ray is basically his life story.
@@thanosdarkseid8695 You're the slow one here I'm afraid, pal, because the OP obviously was aware Tarantino wrote True Romance, why else would he make reference to a line from that particular movie? Duh! Think before you type. SMH
No, who the fuck is Dick?

Quentin you really need to cast Tom Hardy in your next movie.
+Joe McKim good actor, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would properly express the complexity of Tarantino's dialogue in a believable way
It seems like if Hardy is going to be associated with a single director it's going to end up being Nolan. Since he's already been in Inception and Dark Knight Rises with him and will now porbably be a part of Dunkirk.
+TopTen Tv Are you daft my good sir? Hardy has been in a variety of roles, each very different to the other. The guy is a brilliant actor. And it doesn't matter who the actor is - it's the director that brings out the performance in his actors.
+Joe McKim
He needs to cast Mel Gibson in his next movie
agreed... Hardy is excellent and has shown the ability to play a variety of Characters... From smaller roles in Inception and Tinker, Tailor to Lawless, Dark Knight, Mad Max, Bronson and now Legend and The Revenant. I would love to see him get a crack at such a dialogue driven project from Tarantino. He's definitely shown a great deal of range.
On a sidenote, Mel Gibson and Tarantino would be AWESOME... But the Weinstein Company would NEVER allow that.
Was expecting him to say "The Hateful Eight" and then walking off
Same
Ya because that’s what majority of directors/producers trying to sell their movie would say. Love that Quentin is real and doesn’t give a fuck
Nah man, he loves movies and talking about movies
HAHAHAHAHA
@@phillip4847 what? name a single time that's ever happened.
Fury Road was like Ben Hur on crack
Wayne Shields OMG you stole my words! At least I’m not the only one who got the Ben Hur vibes!
😂
Just what i thought hahahaha great comment
I legit laughed out loud. Damn good stuff sir.
*meth
I fucking love this guy!
See this is one of the reasons Tarantino is a genius film maker.. He purchases movies.. Watches them a bunch of times.. Studies them.. His attention to detail is just unbelievable. Its also nice to see how passionately he talks about movies, a lot of these actors and directors would have probably just named the name of their favourite movie that year and that's it but Tarantino actually goes into such enthusiastic detail about it! Let's hope this man doesn't stick to his 10 film word and continues making films until he's 109 years old!
"a lot of these actors and directors would have probably just named the name of their favourite movie that year and that's it" and that doesn't show that they're somehow less interested in cinema.
Ah yes… loving movies automatically makes you a genius filmmaker. Because that’s how that works
I doubt he purchased those 35mm reels. The way that he said he had it "for the weekend" suggests, to me, that he probably has an arrangement where he can simply call the studios and have the movie couriered to his home. Which makes sense. He's one of the few filmmakers whose movie recommendations carry weight with a large group of people. For a movie like "Fury Road", Tarantino's endorsement is a big feather in its cap.
Great how genuinely excited he is to answer this question. You can see his passion for film.
I can watch Fury Road over and over and over and it will never get old.
This man just oozes passion. He's so excited just by hearing the questions because it allows him to talk about movies.
How can you not love this man!? His love for watching movies is so adorable
BringBackStoning. ı appreciate his love for movies, but he is a second rate director nevertheless.
Epstein and Weinstein friend
I like how Tarantino always has definite answers to favourite movie questions
If Tarantino says it's the best movie of 2015, then it damn well is.
The hateful eight is better
@@wolf87322 Many 2015 films are better than both. Sicario, Spotlight, Son of Saul, Masaan, Room, Carol, etc.

however Imho Tom Hardy is a fucking great actor.
One of the greats of our generation. I feel in some ways he bested Mel Gibson.
+TheJustinCinema I wouldn't say he topped Gibson, but he did a great job at turning Max into a wild animal. A guy, who has witnissed so much Madness, Sorrow, Pain etc., that he was barely a human being. A lot of this has to do with the way, he is portraying Max and the way, he used grunts and stuff like that. Max barely speaks in this movie, he reacts in a instinctitive kind of way.
carmelo monaco it's undeniable
My favorite besides Bale personally.
magesticmaniacc Which is in the same vein as previous Mad Max movies. He is sort of a drifter that finds his way in the middle of other people’s stories.
I love how quentin gets so excitet everytime people ask him about movies.
Mad Max was also my favourite movie of 2015! Though it was weird to reboot it at a time most teens haven’t even heard of Mel Gibson, Fury Road was definitely a masterpiece of cinema
Why was it a masterpiece in your eyes?
I think it was a masterpiece because this kind of action movie hasn’t been made in years. There are the Marvel and DC action movies trying to be a part of something bigger but Mad Max. Oh, Fury Road is a movie that feels like way more. A lot of the action was practical and it surprisingly has quite a bit of emotional weight. Fury Road may not have the interesting plot but it sure knows how to deliver great performances, spectacular action and overall, a good time watching a movie
I vent to see Fury Road simply cuz i seen George Millers name on the poster,i had ZERO knowledge about the movie itself,i have not seen the trailer or read anything about it.
Holy shit what a ride and what a movie !
Only movie i payed twice for a ticket to see.
what was your first thoughts as your heard the guitar guy doof play that insane metal breakdown when he came on screen back up by the drum people.....what was your reaction? did you have insane chills...i wanna know
Arnez Juggins To be honest with you i had the chills the second i seen that intro, and then MAD MAX FURY ROAD letters on the screen, shivers started then and did not ended until the end of the movie :)
PS:Guitar guy was fucking awesome, and so was the entire soundtrack of the movie.
Creatrix Trodler ikr
+Creatrix Trodler
Why would you care about George Miller if you weren't a Mad Max fan???
+D I was thinking of the same thing. Is he a really big fan of "happy feet" and went into the movie based on that reputation?
I thoght He'd say the revenant, Tarantino loves his revenge and has worked with DiCaprio Before
+Lnobrien G Well, the Revenant premiered once in one state in 2015, then released nation-wide this year. Maybe he just hadn't seen it yet.
PhoenixXZY didn't consider that
Move_I_Got_This I actually haven't seen The Revenant yet. Just know about its release dates. I haven't seen Mad Max either. I hear both are good.
+Move_I_Got_This I'm yet to see _The Revenant_, however I've seen _Mad Max_ and it's hardy "one of the greatest action movies ever".
I did not like The Revenant. Hardy was damn good and so was Leo.
Good choice.

Since Tarantino mentions Mel Gibson, isn't it time he made a movie with him and resurrected him like he did with John Travolta? Just a thought.
+no hassle Good idea.
+Paul Tokjian Just my opinion, but... does Mel Gibson really need a resurrection?
Holo The Hogan Johnson Of course he is a brilliant talent. What are you talking about?
no hassle I never said he wasn't. I'm just saying that some people just have their run and are content with it. Plus, Mel Gibson is still making movies. He just hasn't been getting the spotlight as of late. Keep in mind that John Travolta was only 40 when he was "resurrected" by Pulp Fiction. Then again, Kurt Russel seems to have benefited from being in The Hateful Eight, as well as Bruce Dern since Nebraska, so you make a good point.
Of course he does. I mean look at his career. Hes in a mess and bar the beaver he hasnt made a good movie for ages.
I've been home to long. I read his name as "Quarantine Tarantino" instead of "Quentin Tarantino" lol
My lil sister unintentionally calls him Quentin Quarantin.
I shaved it down to Quarantino
When you get an original film tape to watch a movie you don't even have high hopes for...
I always like the way he deliver any things
0:28 That’s 5 fingers, Quintin. Not 3.
I'm surprised he never mentioned his opinion on the movie being shot digitally. Perhaps his view on digital has mellowed out over the years?
2015 had a lot of great movies. Tangerine, The Witch, Ex Machina, Green Room, The Lobster, The Revenant...Sicario, The Big Short, Bone Toahawk... I loved Mad Max and it was an incredible theater experience, but for me I gotta go with Ex Machina and Sicario a close second.
id go witch easy
-what the best movie you’ve seen in 2015
Tarantino: “uggghhhhhhhhoooohhh”
When I saw the title I was like MAD MAX gotta be dude don't dissapoint me and he DIDN't ! God I love Tarantino
Fury Road is stunning, epic and absolutely stimulating in every sense a movie can be.
no dislikes on this video, i can see why. makes me smile. good one dude!
115, RIP
Love the audio mixing skills of this interview, they way it sounded like Quantum Toronto was telling me this directly into my right ear made it feel like a more personal experience
i wish i could be his apprentice... quintins the legend among legends
When he says he didn't watch a lot of movie, it probably means he didn't watch ALL of them that year.
He probably busy editing the hateful eight at that time
😂 Of course he picked that! That’s such a Tarantino choice. His characters would end up talking about how much they loved that movie.
If you think about it, Fury Road is a typical Tarrantino movie, just without the dialogues. It has violence, it has hot girls and it is kind of a road movie, which Tarrantino really likes, if I'm correct.
Also, every Tarantino film has an antihero protagonist.
Just like Mad Max.
When he speaks, he cant stay on his feets.
He should be an energetic man and bit excentric
Quentin's all time favourite movie is
Good Bad and the Ugly
I saw Mad Max for the first time in the first hours after my wisdom tooth surgery. It really helped me get through all of the blood constantly spurting out of my gums. Good times.
He makes me feel better about watching my favorite movies multiple times.
Awesome glad he liked it.
Quentin should be on an episode of Hot Ones. He’d be amazed at the questions Shaun would ask him, since Quentin’s always being asked the same questions by interviewers
Ahhhh, but wasn’t Fury Road everyone’s favorite movie that year? It’s just that good
Quentin, Just don't stop dude.
One of the last remaining film makers.
Mel Gibson in a QT movie would be interesting
Before clicking on this video I thought "Mad Max". This is a real masterpiece. I'm waiting for one or more sequels.
"I ended up watching it three different times"

“He’s nervous.”
But there were 3 among the 5, so it still counts
"Do you hear that? That's the sound of my Wahlter pointed directly at your balls."
Its so obvious he is a film lover first and a director second. It must be truly amazing to go to his digs snd watch his film collection with him.
Fury Road was fantastic, the first film i seen in the cinema in a while that blew me away, both visually mainly id say but a great watch
He used to make a lost of his favourite movies of the year. I wish he would start making lists again.
Ive always watched amd loved his films and know what he looks like but never seen an interview. Im surprised by the energy. Imagined him as a mellow, silent, detached kinda guy

SAME MAD MAX IS THE BEST MOVIE OF THAT YEAR
I can watch Taratino talk about movies all day.
Remember when Patrice O'Neil said that Fight Club is a lame movie... Seems like a while ago
Quentin now actually looks like his vampire did in Dusk Till Dawn.
Clearly taking the 'Method' thing far too seriously!
Mad Max: Fury Road is a masterpiece
His enthusiasm is intoxicating.

I love his enthusiasm when discussing movies. Little wonder he is what he is.

He is a true lover of film And a revolutionary genius.
I'm one of those people who gets REALLY irritated by recast characters. But I gotta admit, in mad max fury road I didn't notice Max being recast at all. It was as if Tom Hardy was just as much Max as Mel Gibson was, and it was awesome to feel that way.
I just love how at almost every question tarantino says before answering ohhawoaa
Would love to see Tom Hardy in one of his movies!
I saw it three times as well in theaters. Loved it, obviously.
The Mad Max, more than a great action movie, has a very complex and beautifull script. The fact that it sounds so simple at first gflance is in itself proof of its complexity (Miller can make a great movie with hardly dialogues, he speaks trought its scenes). And it is a metaphor, it is a lot more complex than what it seems at first glance, some e.g.s: it talks about tyranny, religion and politics (the war boys follow blindly, like a religion - the war boys represent society in general, following politics and religion blindly - but when a war boy finds love for the first time, he transforms into the best heroe of the movie sacrificing himself in the end, it is a metaphor about love, it frees from dogmas and tyranny); it talks about consumism, to the point of dependency and destroying earth (the car and chrome worship rerpesents consumism, the war boys AKA society, live in love with consumism; it talks a lot about gender, from furiosa to the girls and the women giving milk like cows, it talks a lot of things in that area (in society there is the worship of beautifull bodies, and skinny women, they are used like objects in some sense, magazines make money and exploit women (and men) image; and also there is the cult of sex in society, and that is reprensented by the runaway gilrs, noadays the word love are used with the same meaning as the word sex ("lets make love") that doesn't exist, love and sex are 2 different things, love is what lives beyond sex (after making sex with a women I don't like, I don't want to stay with her; in the other hand, when I love, with sex or whitout sex I want to stay - image a woman in a wheel chair, or a man with penis cut, to the point they can't make sex, in this case, by society logic, these people can't love, since they can have sex - and this is completly wrong). The movie talks about a lot of things, but it does not use words, it uses images, metaphors, and drives our imagination to far away into new worlds. I could talk about this for days. This is the true complexity of Mad Max script, it is very hard to transform the complex into something that seems very simple. This is why I also love this movie like Tarantino (ps: some of these interpretations of the movie are a little speculation, I know that, but the fact that the movie takes my mind to these realms and toughts is incredible in itself).
I love Quentin. He has crazy energy and is always authentic, never phones it in. But of course, had to try to cancel him. This is why we don’t get cool artists anymore. We get Jordan Peele.
??? nobody tried to "cancel" Tarantino recently, what are you talking about?
Lmao what's wrong with Jordan Peele?
@@juuliejan2990 Was wondering that too. Man's trying to dunk on Jordan Peele in a video that has nothing to do w/ Jordan Peele lmao
“Why cast Tom Hardy?” Quentin you take that back.
I think you missed the point
Yeah truly great new movies have been difficult to find in the last decade.
Mad max was brilliant ,so simple but that's it's genius
Fury Road was my second favourite movie of that year. The Hateful Eight was my favourite!
I need Tom Hardy in a Tarantino's movie
I love that Mr Tarantino loves a lot of the same films I do.
I always thought Mad Max was one of those cheesy action flicks but when it was nominated for Oscars I was like damn this ain't no transformers shit... I should probably watch it

and nothing else.
I'm very happy it's not popular anymore.
I love his passion for movies.
I feel like he slighted tom hardy here. He is a superior actor to Mel Gibson and Tarantino should know that.
Tarantino is the only major/respected film director who will chime in and give an honest opinion of films weather he likes them or not. ALL other directors will reserve their feelings about the story, production, casting, etc, but QT is willing to break from that unwritten rule and say "I did or I didn't like it"
Best example is breaking down the film "Sunshine" His had the same views I did about the 3rd act turning into a slasher when we had a really great story in the first two acts that had nothing to do with killing each other. Great interview, on youtube still im sure. But no other director would ever be that honest, in this industry, you just don't.
And to anyone who thinks "That's dumb, you should be honest!" Go tell your boss to his face hes sucks at his job and name of 3 examples of when he dropped the ball....exactly. Anyone who claims otherwise is a keyboard troll trying to act tough
It was the only movie he saw that year.
what do you mean? Quentin's like the biggest cinephile

Mad Max Fury Road is a quintessential movie. One of the best movies of all time. Perfectly done.
Fury Road had no story and it was too tame. The villain was as interesting as a bottle of expired aspirin. All those model chicks wouldve been killed and then eaten in a world like that.
Mad Max 2 was the best one.
It had a story, it was realistic and it was incredibly edgy, cold and brutal.
The only explanation for his answer not being Bone Tomahawk could be that he didn’t see it.
