The fact that he spoke in Hindi being a non-Hindi speaker tells a lot about his character. If you look at the bollywood actors who come to FC , how many speak in proper hindi ? The way he talks about his film, his involvement, how he conceptualized the story, everything is mesmerizing. I love how rooted he is!

Rishabh Shetty wearing a Dhoti ( notably, black) & promoting his film in an otherwise English entertainment website's UA-cam channel by speaking in Hindi about his Kannada film is true representation of India & our acceptance for diversity. By the way, I'm a Rishabh fan from Kerala.

Any good movie they've made is a remake of South Indian cinema. Ofcourse a very few bollywood originals are a rare drop.

It may surprise many of you, but I found it not that difficult to understand it. Sanskrit words helped me understand it to a great extent.
Most beautiful part was the tears rolling down my eyes, at the end, making me feel watching something that's mine, ours, of my roots, of my brother's and sisters in southern part of my country.

@JuMbO and @Reality no it is Tulu culture. It is not Hindu or Tanatan culture per se. Not all Hindus do it, it is unique to Tulunad (and hence by extension to Karnataka and to an extent South India). There are lots of Gujaratis and North Indians in Mangalore but they do not join in or understand it neither we expect them to understand it. But we expect that we are allowed to take our culture forward and the North Indians and Gujaratis do not impose their language and culture on us. And Christians and Muslims are as much as part of our Tulunad as Hindus. In our place we live together, speak the same language, Tulu (Muslims speak a dialect called Beri bhashe) and more or less share the same cuisine. I have been to Kambalas where Christians and Muslims have their bulls to race. So even if they do not worship our gods they understand and respect the sentiments.

1-Madras was the name of a big province for two centuries which covered parts of all five South Indian states. So the Madrasi used in past decades was not a demeaning word but a word to refer to people from a geography. Like even after new names, people continue to address countries & people as Persia,Burma,Ceylon. If I called a film as Burmese ,it is not to demean anyone but just that I am not aware about the changed name Myanmar. You can find fault with my ignorance but not my intention. Hence plz don't stereotype any community. I haven't heard the phrase Madrasi films ever . At the most, people say South Indian movies or manytimes as Telugu ,Tamil movies. Internet has helped in disseminating knowledge. Now things have changed .So please update yourself.

Having born and raised in Mangalore, I can relate to the theme and culture depicted in this movie very much. Annual celebration of the demi-gods is a deep-rooted cultural part of the people of Tulunad - Tulu-speaking community of the coastal Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district of which Mangalore is the head quarters. I have seen and experienced these traditions, close and first hand and am happy that Rishab took it on himself to bring this out to the world. Long overdue in regards to exposing this cultural aspect. Kudos.

I saw this film yesterday in a theatre here in Mumbai. As a Malayali, I could relate to some of the rituals and art forms of Dakshina Karnataka region as shown in Kantara. We have a similar folklore called 'Theyyam' in North Kerala. Interestingly, the most surprising element in the film for me was the quality humour and light hearted moments within the drama. It looked natural and was well paced throughout. Overall, the film is quite fast paced and maybe that is the engaging factor here. It also has a certain entertainment value. Congratulations to Rishab and his team!
