Ranveer, I would like to share one of my cousin 's experience with you. Many years ago,he was working as a kind of bouncer/muscle man in a bar in Mumbai, when they had trouble with some drunks and argument escalated and one of the drunks a local goon pulled out his revolver, pressed the nostle on my cousin's chest and pulled the trigger. The revolver didn't fire and before he could attempt again my cousin got the better of him and they all fled. Many years later at a bhootakola in our Village the bhootha reminded my cousin about that incident in Mumbai. Panjurli said do you remember that day when an arrow (in local dialect) was about to pierce your chest ? I had obstructed in by keeping my hand in between. When my cousin heard this , tears rolled down his cheeks and he disclosed the story to us.
As a Tuluva, Kantara was a huge representation of our culture and traditions. Thank you for this wonderful episode and enlightening our people of Bharat of Bhoota Kola and Daiva worship.❤
hi 👋 I just want to know something about mantradeva as he recently came in my dream but didn't know anything about him can you pls give me some knowledge about him
Great information I wish to add some... I belong to Punjab North India Similar kind of culture is also there in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal etc. We worship a diety named Baba Sidh Chaano ji also named as Hast Bali, Chaanur devta, Sidh Bali sarkar etc .This diety directly belongs to Dwapar yuga with Shri Krishna People worship Him to protect their villages especially Animals and crops. There is a place of worship almost in every village of Punjab. The main mandir is located in village Samaila,Distt Hamirpur Himachal pardesh After every three years, a religious function is organised like Bhoota kola, its called "Saal"(year)The main preist performs the swaang/role of this diety Baba Sidh Chaano ji by riding An Elephant(artificial) as diety's swaari in the middle of the night.Another sewak diety of Baba Sidh Chaano ji is Baba Bauriya, during Aavesha he eats burning wooden coal pieces People also strongly believe that all the negative energies of that village are destroyed by the diety on that night. For more, you can search it on youtube as SAAL BABA SIDH CHANO JI Baba Sidh Bali sarkar ki Jai
@@prabh_sidhu8742 it's worshipped as appe manthradevathe (feminine) and there are many temples for the deity ,in and around Udupi, Mangalore kasargod..
Hey, I hope you are doing good. I'm actually from Madhya Pradesh and came to know about bhuta kola from Kantara and today I saw this podcast. First of all I love the culture especially the daivas and the bhuta kola I wish the daivas give me an opportunity to visit and see the kola for myself. Actually I wanted to ask you a question. Since Rithwik sir said that his family has three different daivas and during the kola all three are being invoked. So I was just curious to know if the daivas talk with each other too? Like if there are more than one daiva in a kola do they like talk or like have some sort of interaction with other daivas? I hope you get my question and please answer this 🥺.
I was born in the Holy City Of UDUPI which is an internal part of Tulunadu. Infact Tulunadu has its own language "Tulu". I also consider myself to be equally lucky to be grandson of "Padma Vibhushan Dr BM Hegde" What world has got to know recently from him we have been hearing from him since our childhood and it always fascinated us. I have marked a mail to TRS to invite him to his show so that more people know how basic Indian remedies can help in curing lot of diseases and how and why to avoid current Medical practises which can be pretty unnecessary for many. If you guys want to call him to TRS do hit like below so TRS would notice.
@@kasturim17 I feel i am lucky and not so lucky when it comes to interaction with him. Coz when we had ample time to interact with him we were kids and knew a little about his feat and accomplishments...we thought he is our Grandfather and a Professor and used to listen to him but also find our way to escape and play. Now after he got Padma Bhushan and all and after his suggestion of providing basic sanitary Hygiene for better social living standard was picked up by central govt we realise how important his words are and I try not to miss an opportunity to listen to him but when we visit him he is either out of some Interview or might have one scheduled in sometime. So we hardly get time to talk.
I’m from Bali Indonesia We call it “ bhuta Kala” It a lot this dance in Bali and Java till now Sametime just wonder where the came from And now we as Bali people We worship “ nagas” till now Love it from Bali Indonesia
The only English podcast i found so many words of kannada , respect to Rishabh Shetty introduced this culture to whole India ❤️ and tnx to Rithwik Bro .
After Kantara film, even modern people of Bangalore, went back to Village to worship Buta kola . worshipping started religiously and sincerely.Great film
Do Morden ppl only exist in Bangalore ?? Even our tulunadu is modern difference is we give equal importance to to each culture Morden has well has our roots culture..why Bangalore ppl will come to village and worship buta they don’t even have touch of that buta Kola has no 1% touch to Bangalore it’s not their culture it’s tulu nadu culture Bangalore ppl have their village in their own place but in Karnataka only in tulunadu are part of Koladaiva Nema it’s followed by not everyone
And if someone from tulunadu is living in Bangalore they had not realise the root. after Kantara we follow our root even if we go to London, UK, any abroad country we give our culture first value
Great to hear the beautiful cultural aspect of Udupi and Mangalore. There is a lot more about Bhoota Aradhane. Koragajja is another divine deity to be spoken about and the endless leela. Since the land is owned by Naga, naga Aradhana is to another level and irrespective of the religion whether Muslim or Christians if there is Naga dosha in particular land they have to do rituals if needed.
as a manglorean i can say there is soo much to learn and explore about the daiva aradhane , he has explained it beautifully but he barely touched 10 % of the things of this culture of daiva aradhane, please do visit mangalore to experience this practices and culture you will be amazed 🙏🙏🙏
Actually bhootakola is a lesser varient or versions of theyyams in North Malabar kerala as it can we easily understand from its costumes and facial arts and strict ritual practices and this theyyam ritual arts most deepest and the centre part is chirakal to payyannur to neeleshwaram regiouns in noth Malabar kerala where we can see this ritual art form at its highest forms from this area this ritual art form spred through out its surrounding areas like a cercle kanjangad, kasargod, sullya, coorg in Karnataka and talassery, vatakara, manandavadi of kerala and this art forms ritual styles decrease from the middle areas to its outer areas like mangaloore where it becomes bhoota kola and koyilandi in kerala it becomes thira and from the middle this cerlce almost ends in these areas. distorting history is not good for anyone
Im so fortunate to be born in Karnataka...i loved this episode....❤❤❤today is Mahalaya Amavasya the day to pray to our ancestors and im watching this...❤❤
🙏 Big shout out goes to Ritwik S for explaining the Practices of our costal land in such a simplified way . Big ups to TRS ! Namma Tulunaadu 🙏 Namma Karnataka 🙏
Incredible - I'm a Mangalorean now living in Illinois USA. I've seen , heard, worshipped and feared Daivas ❤. Glad to see the representation and spreading of the ancient wisdoms worldwide
Being a part of this Nadu (Namma Tulunad) makes me proud. Whenever we travel, we always remember the name of our daiva and begin our day with the hope that he will be with us. Daiva is very important to us. Many incidents have occurred in my hometown; some may argue that they are not real, but I assure you that I will never forget them till the day I die. One night, when we were sleeping, at around one or two in the morning, a large stone landed just next to our bed. My grandfather used to gather all the stones and throw them outside, there was no way because all the doors were locked, all the windows were closed, and the roof was undamaged. This incident took place over the course of two to three days. Surprisingly, nobody was harmed in this specific case. Later, during a gathering known as KOLA, we got to know that a daiva had visited our home. We began to pray to him, and to this day, they have rewarded us with all of our challenges and business expansion. 🙏❤ Thank you Ranveer for this epic podcast
Being kannadiga didn't know about our Tulu nadu culture this much, this is so fascinating just by listening this stories I'm getting goosebumps, wish to experience butha kola live someday
So happy to see my native Tulunadu culture/rituals discussed on your show Ranveer. Kantara has beautifully depicted Bhuta Kola and deity worship and opened this dialogue on spirit worship/reverence❤
@@beerbiceps Few mins into the video and I'm curious what's more to come. Naga aradhne/worship is another fascinating subject deserving a separate new podcast. Btw, tulunadu consists of Poojaris, Mogaveeras, Shivalli Brahmins, and other clans not just limited to Shettys/Bunts. Do tour Mangalore in April/May to experience Bhuta Kola in person. ❤
Koragajja although ferocious, is one of the sweetest daivas. He's considered as the grandfather spirit (Ajja). Even today, either in casualness (unable to find your phone/laptop etc) to seriousness (missing land documents/ missing person) we remember or invoke him to help us out. Such a beautiful culture Tulu nadu has ❤
People are making money in Koragajja's name by many number of ways. Ajja belongs to the koragas and koragas only are to be true deities of ajja(their kuladaiva) that maintain his gudi/temple etc. But now the higher caste people of Mangalore have made it to be a trend of some sort. They view this as some sort of "You ask and you get it" kind of a god!
Whenever any thing used to go missing , my wife used to say in her mind that koragajja we will keep beeda (Pan) for you. Somehow the missing item will appear. Even lost keys of my sin in Amsterdam were found. One of my wife's friend had lost her locker keys and was casually discussing with my wife. My wife said she will keep the beeda. You will not believe it, her friend had a dream where she remembered where she had safely hid that key to be found out the next day. The ritual to be followed is that you thank korgajja and hide the beeda in the bushes while nobody is watching.
@@kavisidduit has become more common in the past few years, mostly in the last decade… I had rarely heard about nagamandala during my early childhood, but in the last few years it’s pretty much common.. not sure about Mangalore Udupi belt, but definitely more common in Kundapura region
Thank you for the episode. I come from northern Kerala, specifically Kasargod. I had the chance to witness Boothakola and Theyyam, although in our region, it's known as Theyyam. While the rituals and costumes differ, the essence of the traditions remains the same. This episode deeply resonated with my village and its rich heritage.
Fantastic podcast and subject. I am from Tulunad and a proud Bunt. My mother's house "Jarkala Guttu" near bailoor is more than 700 years old. And from last 700 years or more we have prayed our Dajvas- Varte, Panjoorli and Lekesari who have protected and blessed us. Its a privlege to been born in this house and land.
Thanks for all your episodes. I'm from Venezuela, living currently in Argentina and owing every triumph and even my survival in these recent hard years to the Devas and Devi, (Supreme). It would be powerful to see some episode deal with the fact that before most of recorded history, the whole planet was a Vedic stage. There are Vedic symbols and words in the Andean ruins of Puma Punku and Ganesh depictions in Colimbian ancient cites, I've read peer-reviewed articles on how Egyptian, Scandinavian, and Celtic myths are Vedic in origin, the Chinese Tao and the Japanesse Shinto are Vedic as well, there is also the famous white city of Hanuman in the Mosquitia tropical forest in Honduras. So, it would be a wonder and delight to hear some expert's takes on that mystery, and shine some light on what happened in the world to destroy such a divine might... thanks again for this effort
I feel Some demonic people were not happy with this and hence in the past couple of years we saw that relgion that came later were trying to demean other religion and trying to prove that only their religion is true and rest is nothing. Whereas Vedic religion thought that everything in nature is praiseworthy and everything that let's you breathe and survive is worthy of the praise that it had shown. Else we all that Nature will not take time to finish the entire Human race. Thanks to the energy within you and outside you. Live in harmony. God is everywhere and so is he in you coz he is positive energy and Demons are the negative energy. Your inclination will get you either close to Positive energy or Negative energy. So choose wisely. Rest all God and religion is good.
I felt proud for being born in Karnataka, I heard so many kannada words, and Tulunadu is blessed with great culture that we can't see anywhere in the world. I have lot of Tulunadu friends and talk about Tulunadu culture many times for hours, always feel great about that place💛❤️😍
I’m from Kukke Subramanya (Mangalore district). Currently living in Bangalore. In my school days I got to see many celebrities who visited Kukke temple. Entire Kapoor Family, Sachin Tendulkar, Captain Amarinder Singh (CM of Panjab at that time), & many many politicians, businessman’s & celebrities. Atleast once in your life time try to visit this temple & place.
Hey I'm from Telengana. I wanna visit this buth kola. But I don't know how to visit, when to visit. Can u share some information so that I can plan to go there
@@devikareddy4417 its kind of hard for an outsider to get chance if u dont know anyone from the region majorly bcz the kola is generally conducted by families but there are some which is organized by pubilc (not exactly but kinda ) u can try vist after deepavali
Guys During the month of April - May of every year, these rituals are performed by select families and local temples in Dakshina Karnataka. I would suggest you to attend botha kola performed in the local temples where the bothas are worshipped during this period in towns like Moodbidre, Hebri, etc in Manglore- Udupi belt. You take blessings of the deity and witness the event

My father's family is from North Kerala and we have our annual festival of "Theyyam" which is like Bhuta kola, I feel so proud of my rich lineage & heritage, my hometown temple is almost 400 yrs old with a Nagakshetram & many many magical stories❤
I am Himachali and we also have our deities and here you can see buta kola (called Khel). Ranveer should bring someone from Himachal who has knowledge about this. It will be great to watch that ❤❤
I hear many Kannadigas from Tulu Nadu moved to Himachal Pradesh during the 1600s-1700s. Apparently the local king wanted to bring learned Hindus from the South for his Hindu kingdom. I was reading a wonderful book about this when I was in Himachal Pradesh in 2016, so many customs of Himachali Brahmins are also practiced in Udipi. People even look similar!
Some of the major traditions practiced in Manglore, Kundapura include tiger dance(hulivesha), bear dance (karadi vesha), Buffalo Race (Kambala) and yakshagana….. “We are so rich in culture!”❤

I am from Karnataka and Even I closely observe bhootharadhane but recently a instance happened which made me astonishing a diva was invoked on worker who came from Assam where he came for a temple work but a mnc company accquired the land of bhoota and elders didn't perform nemoutsava the detie just invoked on that worker and asked for its land that to in Tulu where the worker didn't even know the Language as he was from north east this instance made me trust it even more
Ranveer Bhai ... Please get BM Hegde sir, you will get more about ayurveda, way of living, Pharma propaganda and so on .... He is an experienced library himself....
Thank you Ranveer. As a life long seeker, born into a culture where my questions could never be answered or understood (Florida, USA), your show has become one of the greatest tools assisting me in my journey. Just as you know that you aren't the one who has chosen this path, I certainly do nothing to chose mine, and I thoroughly enjoy watching and being apart of this divine play unfolding before us. Therefore, I have no content requests. I know what needs to be seen will come to us both. Thank you for allowing Mahadev to use you in this critical time.
I am a Maharashtrian so we know something similar which what we call is 'Angat Vaara Yena' which means that a God enters the body of a person especially seen in some temples, during poojas, aartis. I am still very much fascinated with this and hence I would love to be a part of a Bhoot Kola too, because it really feels surreal to be able to talk to Gods and experience their energies. Watching Kantara was an intense experience and actually introduced us to the age-old tradition of Bhoot Kola. I am still astonished by the number of things we don't know that happen in our India. Thanks for the great podcast TRS team and Rithwik!!❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Learnt so much. I am 45 years old and have now realized that there so much, so so much in our Sanatana Dharma we don't know. And with this i also realize how small we as human beings are. We think we are the smartest out there but in reality we are nothing. Nothing without the grace of these higher beings orchestrating our lives and the world around us. Its truly a humbling effect for me. Thank you Ranveer. Your podcasts have enlightened me about where i come from. So much to be proud of from where i come. I wish you the best and much success in this venture you have started. Keep up the good work buddy.
These podcasts are getting people like me re-acquainted with our culture and tradition as well as the beliefs that I was not born into in this life. Perhaps, it's got something to do with my past karmas. Maybe that's the reason why I sit mesmerized when I listen to your podcasts on Indian mysticism. After living the first 32 years of my life hemmed in by sins, papal restrictions, fallacies and ignorance, I live a free life today, free from any sort of fear or labelling. A devotee of Lord Vishnumaya, I was blessed with a few opportunities to listen to an Oracle and also attend pujas of Smashan Kali which were performed at midnight in burial grounds. One has to experience to understand what I am trying to convey especially the power of Rudra mantra. My thanks and my love to all of you. Keep up the good work. May Swami bless and keep you all, always.
The beliefs and customs of South Indian people have always been beyond my understanding but your podcasts play a very important role in understanding them. The charector of Kantara is also one of them........ thanks for all your efforts Mr. Ranveer ❣️
My Native place is a small village in Savrashtra, Gujarat. I've grown up listening and witnessing stories similar to Kanatara but in instead of Dev, those beings are Devi, I'm typing this with due respect to Maa but have always wondered how can such strong spiritual being enter human bodies, My mind has most of the time, watched people with disbelief who invoke her, but at the same time, got goosebumps and felt a mystical energy around me when the Mantras are chanted, would love to have a deep dive into how this is logical. Thank you for the insightful work that you already do Ranveer, it's helping me understand a lot of unexpressed things. Though it will be a pleasure to watch "TRS presents Buta Kola" I pray your Daiv is already paving way for your Partner so you can pass on the Podcast Legacy instead.
Omg! So amazing! I had NO knowledge about any of this nor do my parents, even grandparents. I'm thinking how rich and deep is our culture. We need to protect our very rich heritage! ❤🙏
Proud to be a Manglorean😊 We may come from different religions But we south canara ppl grew up with all different rituals and traditions and respect it from heart🥰🥰

I come from Tulunadu, and I find this podcast to be incredibly beautiful and amazing. It resonates with me deeply, and the film "Kantara" has effectively introduced Tulunadu's culture to the world
1:12:25 Seriously brother, first time I watched the full podcast without skipping any moment. And especially, thank you so much for bringing these podcast. I am blessed ❤️ that I belong to that region which is "TULUNADU". All the Tulu daiva's will shower the blessings to you and your team. THANK YOU BROTHER ☺️
Thanks to Ritwik Anna for sharing his experience and Ranveer for this podcast. As I'm from Tulunadu hearing about Panjurli Daiva and Korga ajja was such a devine experience.
One world ,one tulunadu, tulunadu is different culture, different language, different spiritual land, all is different , I realy proud to be tulunadu, Im tuluva.
This is by far the best podcast especially for me because of the fact that I am from Karnataka and a person who has closely watched Kolas. Sir explained daivas, Nagas and bhootas very well and also about the background story of Panjurli, Aiyappa (Harihara putra) and Subrahmanya. For the benefit of the audience, just wanted to add - an upadra (upadrava - simply translated as irritation) can be because of simple facts like someone wearing chappal to the kola place, someone eating non-veg when they aren’t supposed to, someone spitting near the place of worship or where kola is held, not calling someone important to kola, the actual initiator of kola not present (so redo the kola) etc etc.
More or less these practices are all over India. I can connect the dots. It's so much connecting it shows how people of Bharat are connected. Good work Ranveer.
Thanks for this, really, really. It's so awakening. My husband used to talk about all this, and i didn't believe. I wished I had an open mind, now I will believe him and will patiently listen to him. It has changed my perspective to many things. ❤😊😊🙏🙏
I feel South India is great amazing. They have maintained preserved our culture tradition. I want to be born in South Indian Hindu family in my next birth.
What a sad and pathetic existence that you have to put down your own culture to appreciate others here. Shame on you. Hope, you don't get your wish fulfilled.
This is the first time i had watched entire episode without any skip. Although i comes from south canara region to be precisely place name Mangaluru i have seen this rituals multiple times till the date. I am amazed to rithwik with the way of explaining each and every custom step by step to beerbiceps and north indians who werent heard about it earlier and came to know about bhootharadhane and its importance after watching kanthara. Thank u rithwik❤
This man has beautifully explained about the rituals people and culture of south canara I am from the same region and havd experienced Panjurli's assurance "I am there" coming true and impossible ones happened in my own family... I got to know many details of my own region through this show Not sure how you brought this person to this show, And what made you believe that this story of small region of karnataka ,would reach larger group I will always be thankful to you for this episode... Thank you Ranveer. ,🙏 Thank you Ranveer for this episode,
After Parashursma gave us land( Kerala) he took the help of nagas to remove excess salt from the land so we can use the land for agriculture. Thats why we have naga gods in our places. Really big naga temples all around kerala.. Korgajja.and muthappan(kerala) are different names for bhirav baba
Just felt I was worshipping panjurli while watching this...I have been attached to every god mentioned from panjurli to subramanyam. I have witnessed it-Panjurli was always there and will be there with us that's the belief it grows in our heart.
In our belief (Kerala), Parasurama kshethra is from Gokarna to Kanyakumari ( Including Kerala). In the history of Kerala, there are 32 Tulu villages and 32 Malayalam villages in Parashurama kshethra.
I really enjoyed this podcast to the core because 1) He spoke so many kannada words. 2) He was talking about the culture that most of the south Indians know. Not just about the tulu bhoota kola. Even in many Kannada speaking cultures there is a concept of daivaradhane, where the diety speaks to you directly. Its was a very common practice which I had witnessed in my childhood.
My mom was from Kundapur and have never seen people from that stretch ever do a Buta kola.. I am told that Buta kola is done by thenklaayi people (that’s Brahmavar and downwards) and not Badakaai people that’s Kundapur/ Byndoor and upwards) is this true ? My dad was from Katpadi and hence I have watched Buta Kola very closely while growing up
@@sharmadashetty2189 My parents are from kundapur too and if you ever visit kundapur there is a temple named Brahmalingeshwara temple in Maranakatte and it is the most important temple for all the people of tulunadu from byndoor to mangalore or Kasaragod . The patris who perform the kola rituals have to visit the brahmalingeshwara temple once a year to take the vibhooti which is used for performing kola rituals and lord brahmalingeshwara is considered as the head for all the daivas. Certain parts of kundapur also perform kola and there are certain daiva like Haiguli, Marl chikku Nandikeshvara etc are the parivar daivas of the brahmalingeshwara swamy and in some parts of byndoor and kundapur the kola rituals are slightly different but it's all same
Hii ranveer bhaiya plz bring back Rajrishy Nandy Sir, and ask him the following questions-: 1. How does one figure out the best suited practice and deity for them besides their preference. 2. What practices in our religion differ wrt men and women To give you an example a) The Devya kavacham that is done alongside Durga saptashati has a verse for protection of the doer's wife does that mean women/ girls can't do that. b) The Argala stotram also done alongside Durga saptashati, it's 24 th shlok talks about the doer's wife again. The ending of Argala stotram also promises boon in masculine gender, i.e., nar Does that mean that females can't do these things . Where as the 32 names promises that for everyone, i.e., manushya (I AM NOT A PSEUDO FEMINIST THESE ARE MY GENUINE DOUBTS PLZ CONSIDER THEM) c) Similarly Rajarishy Nandi sir prescribes a 30-40 days sankalpa for siddha kunjika stotram but for quite obvious reasons most females Can't do it, any substitute for us. 3. Another question regarding siddha kunjika stotram. It contains a mantra which is some kind of expanded version of maa Durga's very famous Navarna mantra in the version of it that I read. But the I found another mantra in siddha kunjika stotram on UA-cam itself, the name of the channel is Debashish chakraborty. 5. Last, which practices actually differ for males and females in our religion (I mean I know that these differences are genuine). 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Plz consider this humble request bhaiya..
This was such an enlightening episode. Absolutely loved it!! Had never heard of TRS until viewing this video. Pleasantly surprised to see how good Ranveer's pronunciation of Kannada words were. :-) Rithwik was a wonderful guest... So knowledgeable.... and more importantly, able to communicate that knowledge so clearly. 👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏. Thank you Ranveer! You've got a new fan, now!
Thank you very much for this amazing episode. i am a euuropean viewer and loves this conetent. Palga Rinpoche talked once on your show about a method to rise the kundalini fire in oneself to warm oneself up, even so much that you can dry wet towls with it. Can you bring a guest on the show who know other methods to use the kundalini energy. We are living in a world right now which is waking up. Therfor you have now the possibility to share this knowledge with us, i guess. From this angle, a broder understanding about the mystic energy, which is slowly awakening in evry one of us, could be helpful. Much appreciations, much love. Peace
Excellent podcast, very gripping. Happy to see interesting insights from different traditions in India. Rithwik is so knowledgeable about Bhoota kola and other Indian traditions. Humble request to bring him back for more episodes, there’s a lot to learn from him
What a podcast Ranveer. As someone hailing from South Canara (Mangalore), the first remark I had in my mind when I read the thumbnail was - OMG. Rithwik sir was really great throughout the podcast. Although he hasn't gone too deep in terms of information regarding daivaaradhane, I felt it was perfect for the time constraints one will have when it comes to podcasts. As Rithwik sir rightly mentioned, our land is called the Parashurama Kshethra or simply Parashurama srishti (given the creation of the land by him) and he was very genuine when he said the people here are very spiritual. Yes we are. Probably because of these rituals or traditional practices we as a tulunad community is bound to do our duties and that makes us more closer to the almighty. Do visit to our place someday 😁once again beautiful podcast ❣️
Amazing. This episode is reinstalling my faith in the divine. I'm facing many problems in life from a very long time. This episode seems to be a sign for me to have a better future with the blessings of the divine. In fact it's the first time i watched your show and i was casually going through cooking shows in UA-cam when this episode came along. Thanks Ranveer. I firmly believe this will be a turning point in my troubled life. I'll try my best to invoke my God.
When I watch these shows I wonder what kids these days are taught - we grew up with these stories and cultural references- I am glad Ranveer is taking time to bring in these topics -
Learned so many new things about our own culture and tradition which I was unaware about despite belonging from same region. Thank you so much touching this tangent of hindu culture.
bro you and your content are awesome!!! they are so mindblowing i just got goosebumps throughout the podcast and you are doing such a nice thing, though your show many like manyyyy of people are learning and knowing about their roots and culture. heads off to you and your content💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you Ritvik, someone who belongs to this culture but having very little knowledge this is so valuable. Born and brought up in completely different part of the country and only witnessing once or twice as a child I didn’t understand why we do this and what it actually means this podcast has helped me tremendously to understand the culture and traditions of my heritage. It was in such a detail that this is treasure for the next generation as well. Thanks Ranveer for bringing Ritwik here. Tons of ❤❤❤❤
Ranveer... Thanks for making the new generation aware of their roots ... You are doing a commendable job... I come from kumaon region of Uttarakhand and we have a similar practice as' Bhuta Kola', it is called 'Jagar'.. I have witnessed it as a child and strongly believe in the power of local deities..
We can see that Rithwik is so learned and he is very clear about what he is speaking, and the selection of right words for such a sensitive topic like this. Great work by TRS in selecting the right person. 🙏🏻
Literally crying to know that we, Hindus have such a deep rooted cultural history, and we are not much aware of it. Thanks God that you give me birth in India specially in such a deep cultural Dharma. ❤
thank you brother❤ i am from tulunadu, upon listening this podcast had goosebumps throughout.. thank you for all the spiritual podcast that you do to remind us there is a higher power who is watching and blessing us❤ may god bless you always😊
Being part of Tulunadu even I didn’t had a detailed knowledge of Bhootha kola’s actual procedure. Thank you for providing such a wide knowledge. All the best 🙌🙌

Scary

As a Tuluva, Kantara was a huge representation of our culture and traditions. Thank you for this wonderful episode and enlightening our people of Bharat of Bhoota Kola and Daiva worship.❤
hi 👋 I just want to know something about mantradeva as he recently came in my dream but didn't know anything about him can you pls give me some knowledge about him
Great information
I wish to add some...
I belong to Punjab North India
Similar kind of culture is also there in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal etc. We worship a diety named Baba Sidh Chaano ji also named as Hast Bali, Chaanur devta, Sidh Bali sarkar etc .This diety directly belongs to Dwapar yuga with Shri Krishna
People worship Him to protect their villages especially Animals and crops. There is a place of worship almost in every village of Punjab. The main mandir is located in village Samaila,Distt Hamirpur Himachal pardesh
After every three years, a religious function is organised like Bhoota kola, its called "Saal"(year)The main preist performs the swaang/role of this diety Baba Sidh Chaano ji by riding An Elephant(artificial) as diety's swaari in the middle of the night.Another sewak diety of Baba Sidh Chaano ji is Baba Bauriya, during Aavesha he eats burning wooden coal pieces
People also strongly believe that all the negative energies of that village are destroyed by the diety on that night.
For more, you can search it on youtube as SAAL BABA SIDH CHANO JI
Baba Sidh Bali sarkar ki Jai
You can visit the temple at our manglore

I also consider myself to be equally lucky to be grandson of
"Padma Vibhushan Dr BM Hegde"
What world has got to know recently from him we have been hearing from him since our childhood and it always fascinated us.
I have marked a mail to TRS to invite him to his show so that more people know how basic Indian remedies can help in curing lot of diseases and how and why to avoid current Medical practises which can be pretty unnecessary for many.
If you guys want to call him to TRS do hit like below so TRS would notice.
You are blessed. I am following him from couple of years now. Ranveer must invite him. Thank him from my side for contributing so much in our lives.
We are waiting to hear Dr. BM Hegde on TRS :)
Is Dr. Hegde all well??
Quite a popular guy he is. My family talks about him often
I’m from Bali Indonesia

Boota kola daiva aredane has no link with Bangalore ppl it’s not their culture not even l in their village

Yes totally agree 🙌🏽

Thank you Ranveer for this epic podcast
Was it Kalkuda daiva ?

So happy to see my native Tulunadu culture/rituals discussed on your show Ranveer. Kantara has beautifully depicted Bhuta Kola and deity worship and opened this dialogue on spirit worship/reverence❤
More to come. Hope you enjoy this conversation 😊
@@beerbiceps Few mins into the video and I'm curious what's more to come. Naga aradhne/worship is another fascinating subject deserving a separate new podcast. Bhuta kola and deities are also in Bihar , when I was in villages, i used to go to see, that's same as in this conversation ❤❤

Koragajja although ferocious, is one of the sweetest daivas. He's considered as the grandfather spirit (Ajja). Even today, either in casualness (unable to find your phone/laptop etc) to seriousness (missing land documents/ missing person) we remember or invoke him to help us out.
Such a beautiful culture Tulu nadu has ❤
So true, whenever we find something that’s lost we keep a beeda (beetelnut leaf) near his temple or gudi.
Koragajja is very powerfull ❤ I have experienced this.
Koragajja is calmest Daiva.
But he gets angry only on Evilest people.
Koragajja is Like Lovable Grandfather
Being a Tuluva myself, I assure you that Bhuta Kola is one of the most beautiful things you'll ever experience. ❤
Call yourself a Tuluva/Tuluver just like people call themselves Kannadigas.
The Naga Mandala is also a unique ritual performed in Tulunadu. You can see Bhoota Kola evert where in Tulunadu but Naga Mandala is very rare.

So, it would be a wonder and delight to hear some expert's takes on that mystery, and shine some light on what happened in the world to destroy such a divine might... thanks again for this effort
never heard of this info. that's great to know....

I hear many Kannadigas from Tulu Nadu moved to Himachal Pradesh during the 1600s-1700s. Apparently the local king wanted to bring learned Hindus from the South for his Hindu kingdom. Dvaita & Advaita
Advaita philosophies like Hindu,Buddha,Sikh & Jain believe there is god within every individual

I am still very much fascinated with this and hence I would love to be a part of a Bhoot Kola too, because it really feels surreal to be able to talk to Gods and experience their energies. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Learnt so much. I am 45 years old and have now realized that there so much, so so much in our Sanatana Dharma we don't know.

There are many female daivas too which we worship here.. may be there are few similarities..
Omg! So amazing! I had NO knowledge about any of this nor do my parents, even grandparents. I'm thinking how rich and deep is our culture. We need to protect our very rich heritage! ❤🙏
Proud to be a Manglorean😊
We may come from different religions
But we south canara ppl grew up with all different rituals and traditions and respect it from heart🥰🥰
As a person from Ratnagiri, I can say that Shree Parshuram khetra stretches from Kutch to Kanyakumari.. the whole western belt comes under it.. some of these practices happen in kokan as well.. addition to the wonderful podcast this is 🙏🏻
@@conqueror5463may be yes, but the way people are so devoted towards serpent I doubt I wud see the same in other parts of Karnataka.. saying this bcz here in coastal region, even if u find a dead serpent (even when it has died naturally) u have to get it and do sarpasamskara and stuff.. whereas, I’ve heard my frnds in north Karnataka saying they wud worship serpent but wud kill it if found nearby homes or residential areas😂
In Kokan, are you referring to worship of the local Devi? My grandmother had mentioned that once.
True
We want Rithwik in many more episodes.
I come from Tulunadu, and I find this podcast to be incredibly beautiful and amazing. It resonates with me deeply, and the film "Kantara" has effectively introduced Tulunadu's culture to the world

Seriously brother, first time I watched the full podcast without skipping any moment.
We also worship local deities and Nagas in Himachal Pradesh.....Jai ho.. proud to watch such podcast.. Thank you Ranbir bhai
Your already ours brother, we are all one family.. you can visit south india any time, it’s your home as well. I’m from Mangaluru. ❤do visit once
It's a blessing to be born in any part of Bharatha and specially in sanatani family
There is not much difference in South & North.. ! The problem with the North is that they have lost a lot due to invasion & ignorance
Anyone from Mangalore ?🙋🏼♀️edit-happy about the numerous amount of likes😂🙅🏻♀️

Iam from Tamil Nadu. Very fasinated to hear the Kantara history and culture of Tulu land. Indeed South India is always blessed with Daivas.
Big shout out to both Rithwik and Ranveer 💐 Thanks for enlightening me on my own community that I was unaware of.
This man has beautifully explained about the rituals people and culture of south canara
I am from the same region and havd experienced Panjurli's assurance "I am there" coming true and impossible ones happened in my own family...
I got to know many details of my own region through this show
Not sure how you brought this person to this show,
And what made you believe that this story of small region of karnataka ,would reach larger group
I will always be thankful to you for this episode...
Thank you Ranveer. ,🙏
Thank you Ranveer for this episode,
We must attribute this phenomenon to the diavas nirnaya to bring awareness about themthrough kantara movie
@@bhuvanraj9276 True..,
After Parashursma gave us land( Kerala) he took the help of nagas to remove excess salt from the land so we can use the land for agriculture. Thats why we have naga gods in our places. Really big naga temples all around kerala..
Korgajja.and muthappan(kerala) are different names for bhirav baba
Oh didn't know that our Muthappan and Bhairav Baba are the same..

Just felt I was worshipping panjurli while watching this...I have been attached to every god mentioned from panjurli to subramanyam. I have witnessed it-Panjurli was always there and will be there with us that's the belief it grows in our heart.
Thankyou so much for bringing the Kannada language into the show. It’s so nice to hear about our culture being spoken out loud for everyone to know.
Tulu language.. Bhootha always in tulu.
Kannada is nowhere related to Tulunadu. People of Tulunadu never accepted they were part of Karnataka in earlier days.
It’s tulu. Culture in Karnataka
LoL, a whole set of tuluva rulers praised themselves as Kannada Rajya Ramaramana😂@@nishanthpoojari5404
It’s an absolute blast listening to Rithwik Subramanya 👏🏻🙏🏼 He has a lot to share! We want a second episode
As a person from Karwar, we believe in the concept of "Kshetrapal" who protects a particular place.🙏🙏🙏

I feel proud to have been born in our Tulunad❤ really well explained Thank you so much Mr Ranveer to bring your broadcast.
Being Mangolorean it's my pleasure to listen our own culture in this big platform😍
In our belief (Kerala), Parasurama kshethra is from Gokarna to Kanyakumari ( Including Kerala). In the history of Kerala, there are 32 Tulu villages and 32 Malayalam villages in Parashurama kshethra.
Absolutely stunned by this podcast. The beauty of Indian culture and with intensity you have delivered is absolutely great.
Tulu culture ..
@@prathappoojari5415it's tulunad culture not Tulu language culture and there are people who speak kannada as well
My mom was from Kundapur and have never seen people from that stretch ever do a Buta kola..
Certain parts of kundapur also perform kola and there are certain daiva like Haiguli, Marl chikku Nandikeshvara etc are the parivar daivas of the brahmalingeshwara swamy and in some parts of byndoor and kundapur the kola rituals are slightly different but it's all same
@@sharmadashetty2189yes same thing even I have heard. Even I'm from kundapur origin. Butakola is done in thenklayi side.
Hii ranveer bhaiya plz bring back Rajrishy Nandy Sir, and ask him the following questions-:
1. How does one figure out the best suited practice and deity for them besides their preference.
2. What practices in our religion differ wrt men and women
To give you an example
a) The Devya kavacham that is done alongside Durga saptashati has a verse for protection of the doer's wife does that mean women/ girls can't do that.
b) The Argala stotram also done alongside Durga saptashati, it's 24 th shlok talks about the doer's wife again. The ending of Argala stotram also promises boon in masculine gender, i.e., nar
Does that mean that females can't do these things .
Where as the 32 names promises that for everyone, i.e., manushya
(I AM NOT A PSEUDO FEMINIST THESE ARE MY GENUINE DOUBTS PLZ CONSIDER THEM)
c) Similarly Rajarishy Nandi sir prescribes a 30-40 days sankalpa for siddha kunjika stotram but for quite obvious reasons most females
Can't do it, any substitute for us.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Plz consider this humble request bhaiya..
Yes , I also have this doubt regarding females not able to do any puja/jap without break.
Avadhoot baba shivanda (of Shivyog ) giving right direction about these issues.. Plz.. Take help from this maa devotee
Peace
Wow. What an episode. 😮
Hail HariHara 🙏
Hail Buta Kola 🙏
Hi, am from Hassan, am very proud about our culture, Thank you so much for the show, keep rocking.
When I watch these shows I wonder what kids these days are taught - we grew up with these stories and cultural references- I am glad Ranveer is taking time to bring in these topics -
Kantara fever is still on! ❤🔥

Tons of ❤❤❤❤
What a treasure of a knowledge you have Rithwik! Waiting for many more such podcasts on Coastal Karnataka.
Still increasingly conversions are happening !!!
