@Mzargeot ah yes video game logic i am 15 feet away I shall shoot my shot gun oh no I only hit one pellet irk aight bois you see them ducks on the lake about 40 yards out gettem
The fur on latcher skin could most certainly be used as camouflage, since it could fake algaes floating, while his eyes could be closed or even faking bioluminescent minerals down there
funny story: me and a friend were sunk into the abyss and a latcher started attacking and the way we killed it was our sub hit a cliff and one of the latchers legs got trapped between our sub and the cliff, so my friend used a coilgun and slowly chipped away at it's health until it died
Me and some friends had our first encounter with this bastard. On a regular transport misson we were feeling confident after 3 easy mission runs. While when almost at the outpost we got jumped by 3 hammer heads, all 3 hit at almost the same time. Water was flooding in but nothing we hadnt dealt with before, then the whole sub shook again and the guy who played captain started panicking. The latcher attached to the bottom of the sub, i started shooting it with the bottom coilgun but by the time we killed it ,we had hit crush depth. Our suits were better then our hull in the depths so we were stuck, we couldn't repair fast enough to ascend so security killed everyone and took his suit off.
My theory about the hairy body of the latcher is that are sound mufflers larger abyssal mosnters are heavily armored and can outmaneuver the latcher specially charybdis so its not strange that aside its silent movement the hait on its body helps to not reflect the sound so it avoids the echolocation of the other two main abyssal threads
Hey hail, a neat idea, since it looks like you finished all of the vanilla creatures, is to analyze modded creatures, My favourite mod of all times that to me killed the vanilla is Barotraumatic creatures, Vanilla creatures allegedly have "Gameplay first" designs while still maintaining a decent amount of explanation, but barotraumatic have some designs that both make sense and look great (Others not so much, but traumatic adds over 250+ creatures)
Given that the latcher is based on a tarantula, the hairs present might be for self-defence. Tarantulas eject urticating hairs at potential threats, which can cause irritation to the skin and eyes, as well as clog mucous membranes and the like.
Bro I had my first experience with a Latcher yesterday. My friend said that we were at the area we needed to mine, so I put on my suit, went up to the airlock, and as I shut one of the doors, I just get flung, and see a healthbar appear.
I just found your channel and its interesting to find out more about its more hidden lore do you think you may cover some other games of mods in the future
I remember the first time I encountered a Lacher. It was smooth sailing up until the part where we needed to go into the abyss to get some material for a job, we were at the spot all of a sudden I see something in the radar the ai open fire. But it was already to late it latched on to us. Lucky the hulk was at max durability so it wasn’t able to use the pressure to crush us.
The latcher is absolutely not easily dispatched with coilguns, lmao. It barely even registers as damage. A railgun with a high explosive payload does like, 10% of its health at the most, and unless you are ready and waiting for it when it attacks, its attack WILL knock you off the gun and it will be safely gone before you can counterattack it. Its hit and run style of attack ensures that hurting it is a tedious and time-wasting process. I dunno if you can tell but I hate the Latcher lol
hey, could you get back to making videos? the game is just perfect now. lore is deep and all... Would love to see new videos soon. Even some modded subs are enough but the ancients, jove, and all that. Please!
The Latcher is a sentient shotgun with an underbarrel grappling hook, Change my mind
I mean....You're not...entierly wrong
So you're saying that the latcher is a DOOM super shotgun
@@kaeldavidson6898 Basically that but it doesn't have videogame shotgun syndrome
@Mzargeot ah yes video game logic i am 15 feet away I shall shoot my shot gun oh no I only hit one pellet irk aight bois you see them ducks on the lake about 40 yards out gettem
So what you're saying this is a living Punt. gun?

"...trying to find a crew that is either calm enough, or insane enough, to stay in such a place for an extended period..."
Send in the clowns.

The hairs on the latcher are more likely used to detect vibrations in the water
Clicked immediately, Bros gotta keep doing Barotruama!!!

Am I the only one that finds clearing out the abyssal areas both more fun and easier than the upper levels?
