Sorry...I left out one of the strangest...the notion of a self but I covered this is so many other videos "I" decided to post this anyway.

I've often thought about the notion you touched on in the beginning - the idea that you could have been "birthed" into existence this very moment (and repeatedly so), only having a concept of the past as part and parcel of this birthing. Of course, whether or not that is the case, it doesn't change the fact that the only thing that is, or ever can be, real is this moment. All mental noise is ultimately distraction and often self-torture, whether we are "pushing away" or "pulling something towards", because it is all a denial of the only truth that can ever be known - present experience. Love your channel btw.

I find it strange we spend the majority of our time in our thoughts. What would our conscious experience be without language, which in of itself is abstract.
It is amazing how quickly we forget the feeling of walking in nature and enjoying the here and now. Or maybe it is just that we forget that we can access that state during our daily lives.
You know what is remarkable? That you love the smell of tea and garlic pizza, and then you talk about how you think the cultures and thoughts embedded in the actions that bring those smells to you are not real. I have no idea what you think you are being grateful for if not for them. Every single moment of the present I feel the work of those who have contributed to the building of civilizations, from long ago to this moment, and the fact that I get to enjoy it, and I feel so fortunate. And yes, I would never change my Western society for any wilderness or tribal existence in the world.
I go to sleep at night wondering who it is that knows all this strangeness. And then I wonder who it is that knows that knowing. And often I wonder who it is that knows that knowing of that knowing. And then on those really difficult nights I am drawn to the knowing of that one who knows the knowing of the knowing of that one who knows .... bzzzzzzzzz

It just seems funny that the base of experience itself, the only means by which anything is known-consciousness-could possibly question its own existence. Just seems like cosmic humor..
