I don’t know if somebody else already commented about the red heart ombre colors. But yes, I have definitely noticed a change. It seems to be dependent on where it’s made. If the label says made in turkey, you get one color shading, and if it says made in the USA you get another. It doesn’t matter about dye lots. I was using jazzy for a blanket. I had picked up five skeins at Joann fabrics and didn’t realize the difference in the colors until I got back home. Two of them were much brighter than the other three. I started with the darker one. But then, when I got to the bright ones, it did not blend in at all. I had to search stores to find two more skeins That were made in turkey so that they would match. A big difference. Check your labels to make sure that you are getting ones that match.
@@erikagholston6610 I have started saving a strand of yarn if I am in the middle of a project to compare the colors and make sure they match. Hope that suggestion helps. Kind of an obvious one, but...😂
Hey Crystal! Red Heart changed mills. They are now producing in Turkey; the colors appear a tad lighter BUT the yarn is actually a bit softer with a bouncier coil. I LOVE the newer Red Heart now!
Your selection is way better than ours! Our yarn section is sad and very empty. That is definitely NOT the same Jazzy! I love how supportive your husband is! It's wonderful!
Mine too, I live about 35 minutes SSE of Silicon Valley; closest Walmart is in Gilroy, but if I go to Salinas, I try to stop by one of their stores and shop in yarn section. Salinas also has a small JoAnn's that has the SWEETEST, KINDEST employees, especially the young lady about 20 who is a big 'fluffy,' very pretty with a hard Hispanic name for my old Okie tongue to pronounce!! But she is the GREATEST, she was actually HAPPY TO HELP US TOO!!
Love when you and hubby go shopping together for yarn. It's a joy to listen to your pleasant exchange as you both view and choose yarn. You got some beautiful colors too!!🥰
I so agree with you, I love when they are together. He seems to know a lot about yarn and that is so cool. I just love watching them. Of course I love watching Crystal showing us her yarn.
This is the first video I've seen with them both in and 🥹🥹🥹 they're such a cute and cosy couple. I can imagine my boyfriend going with me and his enjoyment of my excitement 🥹🥰
I love Mainstay! My son picked up some pink for me for a sweater! We usually have the mixed berry, pink, blue, and a few of the No piling version of Mainstay. This batch seems softer.
I started crocheting with Red heart because it was cheap, but now I not use it now for garments only baskets or purses or such…. Then I went to Lion brand, but now I’ve found that Premire is my new favorite ❤️
Beautiful yarn choices. I worked for Walmart for 29 years 20 of those years I managed the fabrics and crafts dept I loved seeing the new colors and brands every year I just can’t believe how much some of the prices have went up. I’m 72 and have been crocheting since I was 7 making doll clothes for my Barbie’s you’ve taught me some new stitches. I love it

I have noticed over the many years the quality of yarn has gotten so much better. In the last 10 years or so, there has been a big popularity in working with yarn for younger girls. Some boys. Yarns are SOO much fun now. No wonder.
Crystal I work at a JoAnn and stock the yarn. I haven't noticed on the ombre, but I've noticed the fruity stripes have looked very faded. Almost like when the color in something fades when its been left out in the sun🤔
Your eye for colors and your knowledge of yarn is incredible. I really learn so much from you, Crystal. And by the way, I enjoy when you and Mr. BOD go on your excursions. You make my day.
Hey Crystal. I noticed a difference in the Red Heart Super Saver Ombre when I ordered the Berber Afghan at Mary Maxim with the True Blue Ombre. The difference is that the original Red Heart Super Saver Ombre and the Red Heart Super Saver Solids were made in the USA with imported fibers; while the new Red Heart Super Saver Ombre is made in Turkey and the Red Heart Super Saver Solids are made in India. A quick way to see which yarn is which is to look for the little American flag below the Red Heart Logo on the label-this is the original yarn; while the yarn without the American flag is the new yarn.
We don't have any, here in the UK so can't really comment, but it is really nice to have Mr BOD joining in a video again, I was starting to think he didn't love us any more, lol. Have a lovely weekend and happy UK Mother's Day, to all those lovely mums out there xx
“Mom and pop O’Day”!!!! Love it!! I love it when Crystal is opening a box of yarn and showing it to us. She will say something like “these are Bag O Day colors all the way”. or “Bag O Day likes a good 4 weight”. Or the like. I just love that.
Learned pooling about 5 or 6 years ago. Used Red Heart Icelandic to crochet a scarf using the moss stitch. It got on my nerves at times as your tension and stitch size has to be spot on. There were some places where the dye change was not the same length as previously on the skein . The end product was heavy. Kept it until recently, donated it to a charity and I believe they sold it for around $30. When crocheting a pooled item, atleast when learning, make sure you have no distractions. Enjoy learning!🙂
Oh wow, that is quite a difference in those ombre yarns! I'll have to go take a look at my local store today. I also really like the Mainstay brand. For a budget yarn it's really nice! I used those quite a bit. They're really great for amigurumi because of how soft they are. That was cool that you met a lady who watches you! I met someone at a local art fair that I watch...that was pretty cool. Found out she lives just down the street from me! LOL
Thank you for the information about RedHeart yarns. I recently went shopping at Walmart this week. I could not believe where the various yarns were made. Some of the yarns were made in Turkey and some in India. I couldn’t find any yarns made in the USA. I noticed that the color saturations were different.
Hi Crystal! I have noticed a trend from yarn companies that they are going lighter on the dyes I think to try to keep costs lower or save on money. You are not crazy! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Sit down for this…in Australia a super saver jumbo costs $37. Yarn is Australia is ridiculously expensive. Watching you grab all that yarn and put in in your trolley made my head spin. Too expsive here to be able to do that. You are VERY lucky ☺️
I made a blanket with the Jazzy Ombré a few months ago and the new one you bought is definitely a different color and the green is different too. I like the Walmart brand of yarn too, it’s nice to work with…I wish they had more colors though. 💜🙏🏻
I love those ombres. I do like the green one. I had fun going to Walmart with you! Awesome! I never get to yarn shop in person, and this was just as good. Have a fabulous day.
I love to go yarn shopping with you and Mr. Bod. Love to hear your comments about all the yarn. Your walmart has a better selection of the ombre yarn than mine. More colors to choose from. I think I like the old Jazzy better too. I haven't tried the Mainstay, but I am going too especially the anti pilling. Thanks for another yarn shopping trip.
I really like the Mandela ombre too. I agree with you, they need new colors. I love when Mr. BOD goes shopping with you. Looks like you two always have fun shopping together!
I live in the UK and have never seen Red Heart yarn here. It looks so good and I love the stripey ones! You are so lucky to have it there in Walmart...enjoy using the yarn and thanks for all the great tutorials Crystal ❤

Wow big difference in the ombre yarn! I like the old ones better. Y'all are so cute shopping together. Sounds a lot like hubby and I 😂 Awesome how you got to meet one of your followers! Have a great day Crystal and Eric 💞💞💞
I was working on a Shawl pattern using Red Heart’s Ombré in the color Sea Coral. As I started using the second skein I noticed a difference in the thickness and quality of the yarn…and not to the good! The color was definitely “dull” compared to the first skein. I didn’t pay any attention to where it was manufactured, but this last skein was “Made in USA of imported fibers”. The first skein seemed softer and this last one is scratchy and thinner. I’m not happy with the way the shawl feels or even looks towards the bottom where the second skein started. Now I’m afraid of buying anymore cause it’s hard to tell when I’m just holding it, mainly when I’m crocheting with it is when I can really tell the difference.
Those are drastic color changes for sure! I love Mr. BOD's comment "that's kind of shady"...ba-dum-bump 🥁🤣 That was very nice of that employee to make those pins. 🍀💛💚
Hi Crystal I just bought some of the Red Heart ombree Jazzy from Herschners and mine is way brighter than the one you showed. Thanks for the shopping trip.
Yes! Thank you for doing this! I started a blanket using the dark teal. I only had 2 skeins from Joann's and had to order 2 more from Walmart. When they arrived, they were totally different...the color was more green and much lighter. I went back to Joann's, and there was one like my original, and the rest were somewhere between the original and the washed-out version. I bought a couple of the middle-toned skeins and did a tonal progression throughout the blanket. Dark, middle, light, middle, dark. It was a bit tricky trying to match the yarn when I changed skeins. I also noticed in the lighter versions that the transition in the ombre wasn't nearly as smooth as in the original (darker) skeins. Some were pretty sharp. The blanket turned out well, but the ombre yarn is definitely going through some kind of issue.
Yes, I found that the jazzy is definitely different! It use to be a hot pink to a brighter light pink. I noticed that other colors were also different. I thought to myself that the shading seems muted🤔 It's too bad. 🤷🏼♀️ Oh, by the way, the yarn is any where from $3 to $4 dollars more here in Windsor, Ontario. The RH ombrés look like they’ve been sun bleached. That’s disappointing. I really like the darker/brighter ones. You & Mr.Bod are so funny. I definitely enjoy his commentary. The prices are the same here in FL. I made an argyle throw in purples and pinks, but I used the actual pooling yarn. It came out absolutely gorgeous. I’m sure the blue striping is going to look beautiful too. Seems any color combination works up into a masterpiece. How fun you met a subscriber. What a nice gift she made for everyone too. Hi Crystal and Erik. I love shopping with you guys. I noticed the colors were slightly different the last time that I bought them myself. They need to change the names when they do that. I can't wait to see you work them up so they pool.
Thanks Crystal fot the yarn shopping trip, my walmart don't have Mainstays yarn, I love going shopping with you I learn a lot about the different kind of yarn.
The colours in the older skeins are much more saturated. Thank you for taking us along with you. I really enjoy these videos. My store contains the equivalent of one end cap for you. Lucky if they have five colours to choose from and all pastel shades too! 🙄 Take care xxJane 🐇

The colors look different to me as well. Especially the ones you pointed out. Thank you for this lovely foray into your local Walmart.
I actually like the Mainstay. I've used that dark grey and some of the other colors. Thank you, Crystal.
I love this video you guys are so fun. You put a smile on my face everyday Crystal. Everytime you say I think I must be talking too much and that we must be sick of listening to you, that is so far from the truth I love listening to you. I have only been watching your videos for a couple months and I look forward to them everyday.😅
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Cheers from FL😺
Yes I did notice I thought it was just me! Can’t wait to see your pooling experiment! Thanks for another fun video! Missed you and Mr BOD going shopping! Tell him Hello! God Bless you! Love you Take care!!

Always nice to see/hear Erik.

You are in my prayers! I enjoy spring but my allergies don’t like it! I guess enjoy sitting on the patio crocheting, enjoying my family, and good food, maybe a glass a wine too!
Oh my gosh! You're right. I have some Jazzy sitting on the shelf right next to me. The colors are bright, hot pink.
Hi Crystal and Erik. I love shopping with you guys. I noticed the colors were slightly different the last time that I bought them myself. They need to change the names when they do that. I can't wait to see you work them up so they pool.
