Cycling shoes and cleats are a great way to increase your efficiency and comfort. Properly installed, you’ll be able to pedal more easily and for longer stretches. Peloton may have shipped your cleats not installed on the shoes. This is a simple how to install your cleats onto the shoe. Generally speaking, will adjust your cleats based on your riding style, but essentially you want them at the ball of your feet.
I know this is and old video - but I'm here in 2021 looking for this after getting my Peloton today! Thank you!
Enjoy your new bike!
1 Apr 2021 - I got my bike+ today 🚴 🤗
Not sure about the shoe sizing. Fits like a glove so not sure if I should size up 🤔. As I’m only using for cycling, I think I should be ok.
@@CarolCreates you want the shoes to be snug, but not roomy if that makes sense. The shoe should hold your feet well in position, but you also do no want your toes pressed up against the end. They should be comfortable, just snug. Hope that makes sense and helps. Enjoy your new bike!
@@JDirom yes it makes sense thanks.
I’ve just set bike up and peddled a bit (not activated screen yet). But my big toe on right foot is too close to the top of the shoe so I’ll contact customer services and swap for a larger pair.
Same, just got my bike today!
I just got my Peloton this morning!! Was excited all day to get to do a first ride … thank you for having this video because I was soo confused 🤣🤣
Glad I could help!
Thank you sooo much. Instructions weren’t in the box. Followed your video set up and was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Glad it helped! Enjoy riding your Peloton!
Appreciated the video. Just got my Peloton this week and the instructions for the cleats were basically non-existent for a newby!
Glad you found it helpful. Congratulations on your new bike, and have a ton of fun! Cheers!
I just received my accessory kit today. It's a good thing I found this video because there were no instructions on how to attach the cleats. Thanks for the lesson!
Glad you found it helpful. Enjoy your new Peloton!
@@JDirom how do you put the shoes on your feet lol?
mazdacanadafamily like any other shoe tighten Velcro so snug and richter ratchet strap last.
Thank you this was very helpful I'm a complete idiot when it comes to things like this and I was able to follow your instructions to a T! Appreciate the help
Glad you are all setup. Enjoy your Peloton!
Thank you for a clear explanation.
Hope it helped you out!
Thank u so much for this video. I just ordered the peloton and am a girl nervous about properly installing the screws in the shoes. Idk why anyone complained about the use of “essentially,” it wasn’t that much and each time u said it it made me focus on the basics of what to do and not go overwhelmed. Thanks !
Glad you found the video helpful! Enjoy your new Peloton when it arrives, I am sure you are going to enjoy the experience. Cheers!
This video helped me soooo much. Thank you!!
So happy that it helped! Enjoy your Peloton!
thank you! glad I found this helpful video!! I could not figure out set up with the manual nor the peloton help videos
Happy that you found it useful. Enjoy your Peloton!
Thanks soooo much my bike gets delivered TODAY!!!!!! 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
Great video, clear and very helpful.
Unfortunately, I cannot get the first strap to release. Ugh! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Push white tab at top, and it will release the ratchet strap for as long as it is held down.
Very helpful. Thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the setup information.
No problem!
Dang! Yeah Buddy! Thank you!
Cheers!
it would great if you could explain the positioning the cleat and why you would want to move it around? is this just personal preference?
Lots of factors involved in cleat positioning, I can look at discussing fine tuning your cleat position in a future video if that would be helpful.
I can't figure out how to get the shoe on my foot! How do you undo the strap?
Push the white tab at the top, bull the strap through.
Thanks sooooo much!!!
Glad you found it helpful.
I see these being supplied in white boxes like yours but also black boxes. Anybody know the difference or is it upgraded / updated packaging? Likewise your have white release tabs, others black.
Black racket strap is the latest shoe as far as I know. White tabbed shoes such as mine were around in early 2019. Not sure what color the boys are these days. Originally they were brown, then black box with white tab shoes, I believe now is white box with black tab shoes.
I have tried for literally hours to get my cleat to snap in and it won't. Could this be a design flaw in the cleat? I'm about to give up and send the whole damn thing back 😭
I'm not sure what to say here. Toe in first, and put your weight down, and it should snap in. Tension of pedal could be really high, and potentially cause some issues. So you could turn the tension screw on the pedal a quarter to half turn to see if that helps. If they are third party cleats that didn't come with the shoes, could be the wrong ones. Look Delta and Look Keo can look similar to someone unfamiliar with the cleats, but the systems are not compatible.
@@JDirom thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I contacted peloton and they said the cleat looked too thick (they asked for a picture) and would send another one. Didn't know that was possible and who knows if that's the real issue but fingers crossed it helps!
@@nstitz3745 hope the new cleats resolve your issue.
Thanks you very helpful!
Glad it helped you.
For proper cleat setup, refer to the Ergon TPI cleat tool. Your knees will thank you later.
It is a good tool for perfectly symmetrical cleat installation.
Learning has occurred. 🚴🏼♂️ 👨🏻🏫👨🏾🎓
😊
Awesome!
Essentially.
Such a Chad.....essentially.
These shoes are horrible for wide feet. I measure to 11.5 EEE. I bought 12 as that usually deals with the width issue if shoes don’t come in wider widths. I cannot even get into them. Lots of workarounds, but my solution was to replace the pedals on the bike to match the shoes that I already have for my road and MTB bikes. Not an insurmountable issue of course, but something that would have been helpful to know before I bought 2 pairs for me and my wife only to go through the inconvenience of having to return them. And the pedals I got were a lot less expensive than the overpriced Peloton shoes.
Like any bike there are tons of options and preferences people will have for shoes and pedals. Different pedals will just be an additional expense when initially purchasing the bike.
Thank you
You're welcome
Essentially! Essentially! Essentially! Dude. Buy a thesaurus.
Essentially You are probably right. Sorry to have essentially ruined your time on the internet today. Essentially that is how these thing go sometimes. You have essentially pointed out something, that I am essentially aware of.
I made it about half way through the video before I couldn't take it anymore.
Basically cropped up a few times too 🤣
This video neglected to mention that the screw mounts INSIDE the shoe also move laterally, which is another cleat adjustment. It would have been helpful to explain why a rider would want forward or aft mounted cleats. The creator just followed the instructions included w/ these shoes w/o explaining why. Instructions also note that it is recommended to lubricate screw posts before installing. This video left this step out too.
I'll wait until I can speak to someone w/ Peloton.
Grease on the bolts prior to install is fine. What that will do is prevent them from rusting in place. Just so people are clear as well there ARE NO "screw mounts inside the shoe", the screw mounts are on the bottom, as seen in the video, and attached as seen in the video. As for the positioning of why someone wants a forward-mounted cleat that starts at 4:10
The shoe is on my foot and idk how to undo the thingy and I’m stuck in my shoe. Please help, my foot is hurting :(
Ffs I should just go to the store, people could probably help me
Nvm I had to jiggle the thingy
Push the button on side of shoe pull up strap. Hope that helps!
J Dirom thanks 😂 my sister ignored me saying I’m stupid for getting my foot stuck in her shoe
So I’ve had my peloton for a few months and the arch of my one foot kills me during the day but not during classes. I’m wondering if my cleats aren’t placed in the right position?? Should the cleats be more in the middle of the shoe versus at the ball of my foot?
It is generally accepted that positioning the cleats so that the centre of the pedal axle will be in line with the ball of your foot is biomechanically the optimum for pedalling efficiency and power transfer. Hope that helps.
Take a drink every time he says “essentially”, “basically” or “sort of”. Then, DO NOT DRIVE because you will be drunk.
Basically you would be essentially drunk, sort of...
Bro, you made a 30 second thing last 9 minutes........thanks but sheesh!!!!
Thanks for stopping by.
I agree. He could have condensed this. #UA-camrNoob
Anyone ever told you that you sound like Eric Bischoff?
I have not, wasn't he an old school wrestler in the WCW?
9 minute video?!
3 word comment?!
Say Essentially again
I dare you
Essentially
@@JDirom annoying
@@matthewtreanor1033 essentially.
You say essentially WAY too much. I'm out.
CYA!
these new shoes are the worse design ever. Stuck in mine for 10 min. And they do not click into the bike nearly as seamlessly as the older I bought with my first Peloton
5 years ago.
So my question is have you changed your pedals in five years? Did you try putting on your old cleats on the new shoes and trying them then? As the cleats from old shoes will fit on these as well.
Please get to the point
What point were you looking for?
I’ve been riding now for 3 months but I now notice when I look down at my shoes hooked in, my left front foot seems pointed in toward bike a tad and lately the outside of my front calf is hurting. Can I slightly adjust cleat? Do they move often?
You can adjust, but make small incremental adjustments. I also recommend marking the cleats before you move them, just in case the adjustment doesn’t suit you. Cleats do move you should check the tightness on a fairly regular basis. Make sure bolts are tightened to 4nm. Hope that helps.
