my only complaint (and it's less of a pica problem and more a me problem) is I'd like a bit more guidence in the driver manager. It gives you the option to install a fair few packages and a few different versions of some of them with little explanation as to what they are in-app. I can go do my own research, of course, but it would have been nice not to have to.
@astronemir if the wiki is open for contributors, I'd be happy to add a bit from a new users perspective. I'm between projects atm too. I'll have a look tomorrow.
I'm pretty happy on CachyOS, it's such a great distro, but it's very cool that we have another good option for gaming though. The devs did a nice job - must have been some work tuning Debian up for gaming.
I would also say for KDE users there is a bug where when you try to awaken your computer from sleep mode you will just get a black screen with a mouse cursor. You can fix it by changing from SDDM to GDM3, but then you will have the issue of not being able to launch Lutris without using the Terminal. So I also echo the use GNOME over KDE for now unless your fine not using sleep mode or having your pathing to Lutris borked.

A bit of tinkering to get cooler control (gpu fan speed control) working with this one since it was missing a package from the appimage and the deb package I didn't even bother to troubleshoot. Corectrl would have been another option. Gnome user rights manager tool wasn't added by default so had to install that aswell. Other than that gaming stuff was easy to setup and other extra packages for media, fonts, controllers etc. Said that it didn't recognize 6700xt gpu but everything worked fine as it should. The distro will support cosmic once it's ready. Synaptic package manager included by default. Sets variable refresh rate 60hz by default (variable refresh rate may cause flickering) and in previous version it turned it on after you turned it off sometimes. Good distro experience overall and I've tested plenty of them.

No matter what way you put it, SID with experimental packages is not stable. Not in any sense of what "stable" means in the context of linux at least. Would like to see you check out sparkylinux testing though if you haven't. Like the name suggests, its debian testing with some security updates, and sid packages sprinkled in. It also isn't stable, but I believe for desktop computing it hits a good sweet spot. I'm not a super big fan of the included gui tools, but they are optional and the software included in the repos are more than worth it.
Thanks for the suggestion, I don't think I will try as I'm not that into debian myself, I do agree tho using sid or experimental packages is not that great, debian is stable for a reason so using sid isn't the best idea. pikaos use their own repos so it's not constantly updating and they get to choose when packages come out for their users so it's not that bad as it may seem
There's been a lot of videos on these "gaming" distros, what's been shown is that they actually don't provide an fps boost to games. In fact most of the time, the standard kernel beats it out. Cachyos optimizes the system in ways that don't really affect the gaming side of things, it can be a bit worse actually.
@@My_Old_YT_Account I feel like this is ok because this distro is aiming to be for gaming, not saying you can't use that CPU for gaming you can, there are other Distros that support those CPUs so not that big of a problem
