Same. I'm glad that this side of John Mayer hasn't totally subsided post B&R and Paradise Valley. B&R I feel is his real masterpiece since it's the most musically inclined and honest piece of artistry he's ever completed. Yes, I am well aware of Continuum, but I still think B&R is superior.

Song changed my life. I’m listening again after so many years all I can do is cry. I use to live with my mom n she will get me mad I’ll be in the room listening to this song on repeat n wishing I can just run away from Africa to America live my life in a country town. But now years later my mom is dead ive grown into a man living alone in my apartment remembering those times I use to live with mom. I miss you mother. Rest in peace.

The album Born and Raised just grows up on you, I didn't like Born and Raised when I first heard it TBH but now after listening to the album 2-3 times, I can't get enough of it! Honestly a very underrated album.

the media and the press always find ways to bash his image. he is just like any creative, honest and blunt opinionated person. only difference was that he was in the camera all the time and never had privacy. everything he said was magnified and exaggerated. yes he was an ego addict, but that is all common when you are have someone who is extremely talented and attractive in the eyes of the public. it was only a matter of time before the media took advantage of that and made the people believe ridiculous things, which took a toll on his mental health as he let it get to him. just like any person john has experienced a shit load of pain and unnecessary comments , but he is just as human as the guy you called an asshole because he was proud of how he could play the piano. we have to stop thinking that when a person knows what they are skilled in, that does not make them a bad person.
I think that they do that because he doesn't play to their games. He seems to really just be his own person good or bad.

Born and Raised was that unassuming album which ended up as a behemoth with old man strength, really an accomplishment lyrically and musically.
2012/13.... This song reminds me of a time when I lived with my late sister... she helped me in the process of ending my love relationship... there were a few nights crying and she came out of her room to welcome me... It helped me a lot!
Today I'm with my wife, but now I miss my sister who helped me so much... I sometimes cry for her... I lost her to cancer... I hope spiritually to find her again! I love her so much and I only ask God to see her again one day. Gratitude.
It´s hard to let things go and move on. But one day you have to believe again and take a first step and hope that beginning will lead to resolving. It´s better than doing nothing. Losing yourself is not worth it .

John Mayer's older music never struck me but this one!! It's really super super good. It's right up there with Dylan and Neil Young. Heartfelt, simple...beautiful - go John you've re-invented yourself and it's a gift, go with it Bro. The world is getting ill from digital fatigue and organic acoustic music is a wonderful cure.
Since you have opened yourself to the idea that he is talented and not the brat the media tried to paint him to be; I think you should go back and register to his old music. I think you will be more open to how skillfully John Mayer pens his lyrics.

I’m just a nobody 45 year old husband and father who is trying to keep it all together all the time for those who I love. I won’t ever stop being a better me but it’s really exhausting sometimes. I’m not complaining just being honest. To be able to sit for a minute and hear a song(s) that describes how you are feeling and get that much needed release for the small moment in time that someone else knows how it feels is truly a great gift. He is not underrated by any means, but he is just not popular as many other "hit-makers" simply because his music and lyrics are complex. In my opinion, he is an incredibly clever lyricist and an amazing songwriter. People may or may not like him but they definitely can not (and most of them will not) deny his incredible talent.

I don't know what it is about this album, but I got it in the Winter. And for some reason, I can only listen to it in the Winter - and it feels so magical, especially when I get up early and driving down the motorway as the sun is still rising. It feels so special and I get that warm feeling even though it's so cold.

I have no idea if John Mayer is an addict, but I'm one, and listening to this song, I can relate so much to it. Wrecking things, ending up "In pieces on a hotel floor.." It's about forgiving yourself and moving on, to me at least. Been sober for a year now, and I've let my past go and am living for today. Great song, great message.o it

I think born and raised is one of the bests records ever made. If you want to contest and say it cannot be compared with some legendary tunes, you are right, shadow days or if I ever ger around to living are not Bohemian Rhapsody or Let it be, and they will never be. But just think about how much this music makes you feel good, and makes you enjoy life. Music is not always about being amazed by some skills or extroardinary originality. Somemetimes great music is just about making hearts smile being as simple and as true as you can, and that’s why John is a real genius ❤️

My "shadow days" were caused by hypochondria. In my darkest days, when I had my head between my knees, trying to convince myself that my fears were all in my head, barely being able to function because I was always afraid something was wrong, God gave me somebody that made me feel like me again..... he was a miracle, there isn't a doubt in my mind. And I still love that boy with all my heart, and I fight for him every day. This is once in a lifetime and I pray I don't ever have to let go.

Found this so late, but such a great song. I'm from Idaho, and the fact that he left Cali to live in Montana speaks such truth to his person. I believe in the power of getting to the mountains, windows down, music going while you're driving, and then silence and being with nature can heal your soul emencly in those moments of need. Idaho is so overlooked, and has so much peace, and beauty. Love him, and everything this video/song stands for. It obviously has deeper meaning that what I just said, but even what I've said is magical lol.
