- Amazing Thomas And Friends, Chuggington toy trains mystery box. This mixed box of toy trains came from my local charity shop and it's a fantastic insight into how good the early HiT Entertainment Trackmaster Thomas & Friends toys were. The Echo Cave playset is not small, and had details that you just don't see today on Thomas & Friends toys. Looking over Chuggington's RC Wilson shows us how well detailed the Chuggers were made, and this continued into the TOMY era. One huge mistake the early Chuggington had was the ball and socket coupling system that could not join to Thomas and Friends magnet coupling system. The early Chuggington's track systems were also very different to Thomas & Friends. Seeing the Chuggington Interactive track is a fine example. There are some nice smaller Thomas models in the box and a stunning HiT era remote control Percy that was playing up in more ways than one.

I collect Thomas Take-n-Play but I have to honestly admit, the competition, Chuggington Die-Cast has superb detailing and accuracy in pretty much all of their releases. Despite the wheel configurations, the overall look of those characters were brilliant, I don't mind the wheels or magnets changes of Take-n-Play but if there is a lack of detailing... that is the main disappointment for me, if it is present. Also, that Echo Cave set must have made all the TrackMaster collectors happy if they had one because it is a very nice and lengthy play-set with some amazing detailing and features too. I agree, I like the gravel details on the classic TM track. Very nice indeed! :)

Chuggington toys have completely disappeared from the toy shelfs where I live. Sometimes some stock appears at Christmas time. There are endless versions of Wind Up Thomases (Playrail). Never saw those Limited Edition Collection trains (Checkout Thomases) here either. That Bullet Train looks like a TGV high-speed french train. That brakevan came with the RC Percy. RC Percy's face changed later with Fisher-Price in a normal happy face. HiT Toys detailed Thomas toys really well. That set looks awesome! Anyway another great video Leo! I'm very sorry long videos can't be uploaded without issues. Besides, in a long video there's more funky stuff to watch! :)

Awesome video! I know I'm overreacting here but I really miss the old Trackmaster system. The new Trackmaster system is just an embracement to the Thomas franchise in my opinion. I'm not to surprised though that the old Trackmaster system had to come to an end because in my theory I think that the people who worked for the Hit Toy Company and made these toys were working non stop and probably had a hard time. I just wish that Mattel Company actually look back at there designs and slap themselves in the face, because they're basically not going anywhere if they keep going like this in my opinion. I can't wait for your next video :)

These videos have made me appreciate the chuggers toys, but I think I was switched off by the first season of the show which I found to be very silly.
***** This is the first full set of TM1 I have ever had, wow HiT Toy Company did it right. Hopefully a reminder to us all how much things have changed in a fairly short time. One wonders if we will ever go back to a more traditional Thomas train set, or will Trackmaster 2 be the norm now. Sadly once you look over this Echo Cave playset it reveals the downsizing thats been creeping into the Thomas sets. We all want classic signals and well detailed buildings as standard. Surely thats not too much to ask for!

The reason why we don't see large sets like Thomas at echo cave and large track packs is because if you buy both, you won't need to buy more track. Mattel is so set on profit that they let the toys slide, Like less wood in the wooden railway system and the dumb magnets on the take and plays, and trackmaster two. I think echo cave is a little gimmicky, but a wooden one exists. Mattel had turned to gimmicky and baby stuff, The company wants to sell small track sets because- it's cheap to make small packs, and to sell a premium price. I'm not really into trackmaster one and two, but TM one does have more strong points, like how they have a realistic feel to them. Another one is how it's more like the TV show. TM two focus on toys that look pleasing to the eye, bug don't perform to your expectations. When Mattel DO make large sets, gimmicky or not, they set them at a massive price so that your spend a LOT of money. And lots of people nowadays are short on money because of our slow economy. I hardly buy the new Mattel toys because they are expensive, I always visit second-hand markets and internet websites to buy my toy trains. I occasionally get Mattel toys, like the MINIS, but hardly. I've noticed that the die-cast are actually a lot like the ERTL toys, how they have pin-wheel axels and compatible connectors.

oodsigma Maybe I need to upload 240p and not 1080p...that would solve the problem. Getting chrome timeout when uploading is very annoying, but I know a work around when this happens.

In poland, the tomy Chuggington actually has worked! I'm seeing more Chuggington than Thomas, and theres a whole other room full of chuggington, and only like 6 shelves of Thomas!
I wish my local charity shops would find things like this! Great find, it is such a shame when the batteries leak.
Unless if it's an uncommon thing if some have their battery compartment clean.

janiceandcliff If Mattel just put a little bit more effort in detail and train things the Thomas sets would be so much better. But it seems they are driving the Thomas toys to be smaller and smaller, making you buy more and more sets to make an awesome layout. The first TM2 track packs were very shy on track parts, seeing the early TM1 track pack was an eye opener for me.

In the Thomas Series if you remeber the earlier series .The episode where Henrey crashes we are given the idea that the breakvan is where the conductors hang out mostly or stay during the train ride.

8:52 That's a fenbo train. it came from a set called do city. The set came with That bullet train, a steam train, a do city fuel tank, a car with logs, a bunch of track, a tunnel, and some briges and some other stuff.

Those "Checkout" Thomas trains you have are actually called the "limited edition collection", and were made by the Promotions Factory.
MrBnsftrain Nothing limited edition about them...they are the most common Thomas trains I see..I have literally had hundreds of them now.

the tonka trains come in sets with engines.I have both sets. Sadly these train sets are not made anymore. the two peieses you have go to the steam freight train set. the other set is a diesel passenger train set.
Over here in Belgium 🇧🇪 we have absolutely no Thomas & Friends toys at all, no Trackmaster 2, no Thomas Wood, no Take N Play. Nothing at all. It does make sense considering that Thomas is not that popular in Belgium, it used to be on Belgian Nickelodeon Jr in like 2012, but in 2015 it disappeared. Thomas is completely dead in Belgium nowadays.
That mechano plane was undoubtably from a well known knockoff company. I forget the name, but ive got a few sets built up on my shelf right now.

so yeah, i had a TM2 henry, and the batteries leaked as well, it ended u destroying him, but my dad could fix him.
those parts that stick out on the brake van are meant to be there and were used to allow the guard in it to look down the side of the train

In my opinion, Chuggington and Handy Manny tried too hard at being "kid friendlier" versions of Thomas and Bob the Builder. You can't clearly see it in Chuggington but you can definitely see it in Handy Manny, if that show is still on. There is a such thing as too kid friendly and Chuggington wants to compete with Thomas, they are going to have to make some changes.
Downsizing products is more important than the consumer's happiness. I was surprised to see how big that Lightning McQueen set was. Maybe toy companies will start selling mega sets again. Also, they sell GP/ Gold Peak batteries here in the US. Not sure why those had "Industrial use only" stamped on them.
Mr Diesel Electric Personally I think Chuggers never had a single stand out character as Thomas pulled off. EVERY child knows Thomas The Tank, but when it comes to Chuggers a single character really doesn't stand out. I always felt Action Chugger was given the wrong paint scheme in the start, if he was done right he may have been a good character to focus on. When I dressed up Action Chugger as Thomas The Tank I think that really showed everyone how important a good colour scheme is.
