I wish they could keep one train stand-up and another sit down. Kind of like how if you were to small to ride apocalypse stand up, you could still ride it sit down.
For shockwave, I think it shouldn’t have its standup feature taken away. While it does allow younger guests, it is the UKs only stand up coaster, which is pretty much what was keeping it relevant. For the lift & launch coaster, when it says a UKs first, i was thinking maybe a 45° tilt track, nothing too scary. Also im very excited for Rita all day!
I hate getting angry about things, but this has done me. The get rid of G-Force, scrap Apocalypse, and now are getting rid of the UK’s only stand up coaster…what’s the point?…I understand family orientation, but this is stupid… Good video though Dan, thanks for the update 🤙🏻
Tbf G force was a maintenance nightmare and they needed a new coaster so apocalypse had to go, but still very bad decisions. At least move apocalypse to Oakwood or flamingo land or something
Sad that they are going to change it, it's such an iconic coaster and it being stand up makes it so unique. I'd much rather them make it sit down than removing it all together though. I'm sure Drayton manor know what they are doing and I'm sure it will turn out great! Also: congrats on 50k Dan!! 🎉🎉
Can’t lie the brakes were really rough i hope they fix that but i did like the standing up aspect of it very different and other than that it’s fairly basic so it is a shame cause they removing it’s only real wow factor
I'm honestly really disappointed with Drayton Manor now. They used to have such a good mix of kids ride, family thrills, and extreme rides. It was the park I grew up with and it took me from a nervous child too scared to go on anything to a confident teen that loved theme parks more than anything, to point I wanted to design coasters as a job. But their decisions in the last few years have made that kind of progression that I had impossible. It's almost entirely kids and family stuff, especially now Shockwave is getting neutered. It is such a unique ride and they're getting rid of its one main selling point. I hate to say it because I've loved Drayton for decades, but I might be done with the park.
Got to ride it for the first time last week, and I have to say I am sad to see it go to sit down, though it is probably a step in the right direction for where the park is going.
went specially to go on this standing up one last time a couple weeks back before it changes and apparently that was the one day it had been closed all month! was so disappointed as this was my first looping rollercoaster, and the ride that got me into theme parks so will be sorely missed :(
floorless would have been better, but honestly the layout, speed and g forces are pretty tame! the only thing this thing had going for it was the whole 'Europes only remaining stand up" and 'Worlds only 0g roll on a stand up'. take those away and its a pretty boring ride lol
Hi Dan. I’d love a Paultons Park video. You have done Tornado Springs, but not Cobra, Pterosaur and George’s Dinosaur Adventure 😢. Keep up the good work ❤
Definitely a shame it's going to sit down. It was one of the rides that would get me to go to Drayton but I'm not really in their target market. I suspect they'll lose more customers than they gain but if more people can ride shockwave I guess that might lower the queue times on the other coasters and it'll be good to get it running with 2 trains again.
Hi There, a great Video, thank you for sharing your thoughts, perhaps some water and mist effects as part of the surprising features, will be sad to lose that unique selling point of "Shockwave" but makes sense given the Theme Park's new target audience etc. Cheers Peter :)
I think the new trains (if intamin are doing this project) will be somewhat similar to the trains on skyrush at hershey park or flying aces but with the seats slightly higher up to account for the higher heartlining on shockwave and with different restraints to account for the shorter hight requierment.
Well, ive only been to Drayton manor once, cos lets face it, if you are coming from the south coast back in the day, you would go to Alton towers, the American adventure, Blackpool pleasure beach, or lightwater valley before even considering Drayton manor. Im just glad I got myself amd my kids on shockwave before the altered it, and also the ride they removed with the lift hill inversion (g force or something.. it was red and mad)
I could go either way with Shockwave becoming a sit down coaster. I'm certain it will give it a new lease of life though as I know some people don't like it due to being a stand up. I hope it will have lap bars too!
Congratulations on reaching 50K! I think it's a smart move by Drayton Manor, who are clearly going all out to be known as a family park. I'm a season pass holder and many times this season I've seen it been almost walk-on whereas many other rides have had sizeable queues - even on weekends. I know many people are disappointed that they are removing the stand-up element, but I do believe it will preserve the ride for many years to come. Had Shockwave been at another park it may have just been removed altogether!
I'm glad Shockwave is becoming a bit more family because Drayton was my child park, especially Thomas land. Oh I miss the Buffalo Coaster. Anyone remember that Indian sitting in the middle???
Other stand-up's around the world have been converted to floorless trains like Icon. A good compromise to me as long as they don't use over the shoulder restraints. It's enough of a head banger as it is.
Couldn't even spring for floorless trains like other converted stand-ups? I know those are all B&Ms, but this was Intamin using B&M's track design, surely they're still compatible. And the UK doesn't have any floorless coasters so it'd still retain its uniqueness in that regard.
FIRST! (Don't mean to be that guy, but it's my natural instinct 😂) I'm going to miss Shockwave's unique feature, but it's gonna be nice! Love the content dan!
I'm astonished this is happening. It's the same age as Nemesis and likely inferior in design, I wouldn't have though Shockwave had the 10+ years left in it to make new trains worthwhile. Guess it must do, or they've got the trains on the cheap
The track hasn't had the g forces Nemesis has had and the foundations are probably better as it's on flat ground rather than putting the supports into the sides of the trenches.
I understand why Drayton r changing shockwave to a sit down in stream of a stand up but without the stand up strains, shockwave loses all its originality. In its current form it is the only intamin stand up in the world, the only stand up in the uk and the only stand up in Europe, my point is that it has originality in its current form but once u get rid of those stand up trains it loses all that originality, it’s just a low tier looper with no stand out elements, on stand up shockwave the 0g roll is a great stand out element since it’s the only one in the world, again going back to my point about it having originality, but now it loses all its marketability, it loses it’s ability to stand out as the only stand up in europe or the only stand up in the uk or the only intamin stand up in the world, and it loses all its originality so I understand why drayton decided to do this and I get that they want to reduce the height requirement but by doing this they r essentially killing the ride since it wasn’t the greatest stand up out there but it was original but without stand up trains it’s just a low tier looper with no originality
You are obviously the best UA-camr there is and will be forever! Congrats on 50k🎉🤩 Keep up the good work. To the community: make this the most liked comment so Dan reads it!
Seems kind of pointless removing stand up carts especially when there is new stand up technology like with pipeline Seems like its gonna be a bit of a lame ride now
I think it is a good idea but a terrible idea to not change the layout. The layout on shockwave has good inversions but absolutely nothing else. The rest of the coaster is just straight track and a long turnaround that does nothing. The trains come out of the corkscrews with enough potential energy for a couple more elements at least, and that straight track could pretty easily be turned into an airtime hill. I respect Drayton’s decision, but if they’re not changing the layout they should’ve kept it standup otherwise it will be a pretty generic coaster and nothing that great, not even in the UK
I wish they could keep one train stand-up and another sit down. Kind of like how if you were to small to ride apocalypse stand up, you could still ride it sit down.
That’s what I’ve been saying😂
They could get a new stand up model
how about they pull an ensō
@@youtubekilledtrustedflaggi9274 yh but they could have 2 trains
When they had the other train on shockwave just turn that into sit down

I really wanted to ride it as stand-up, but I doubt I will end up at Drayton Manor in the next year. Sad news. Great Video Dan, Amazing as always!

I can’t imagine shockwave being any more thrilling the duplo dino if your sitting down on it
Nah man nothing can be more thrilling than duplo dino

Another great video. Keep up the great work. It will be nice to you do the ultimate uk theme park again but with American rides
Thank you!! That’s definitely a plan for the future!

I think it is good how it is but its cool to seen them changing it

Hi Dan, love your vids!
Congratulations on 50k
I think If they are adding new elements that it’s probably going to be a water jet or something
Dan, I'm calling it. On-board audio is the new entertainment factor.
That would actually be amazing!
Congratulations on reaching 50K!

5:40 omg, reimagining. That means zamperla will add a 120 mph launch and 420ft spike right?
I'm glad Shockwave is becoming a bit more family because Drayton was my child park, especially Thomas land.
Oh I miss the Buffalo Coaster. Anyone remember that Indian sitting in the middle???
Amazing Video Dan
Congrats on 50k Subs ❤❤
Legend! Thank you!!
I know it was a throwaway one liner in this video, but "In The Loop" would be a great name for a rollercoaster/theme park news segment
That’s a good point, I’ll look into that 😂
I hope another uk park builds one new stand up to replace. Thorpe Park, Alton Towers or Flamingo Land maybe?
congrats on 50k
Other stand-up's around the world have been converted to floorless trains like Icon. A good compromise to me as long as they don't use over the shoulder restraints. It's enough of a head banger as it is.
Sad news to see it go but have at least one row be stand up just for the old times and also to technically keep main source of popularity
Sit down shockwave needs lap bars to keep the intensity
You have some misinformation there. In Italy there is an operational TOGO standup coaster. Freestyle at Cavallino Matto.
I have a feeling they may go winged! Like mandrill mayhem! Trying match chessington on the family factor
My parents said I can go to a theme park in the Uk for my birthday any recommendations there’s to many to choose from
You deserve millions of subs
I was hoping that the news was that the flying fish was getting a new launch section. This is also cool though
New for 2025: flying fish gets changed into an intamin multi launch with a swing launch!!
Couldn't even spring for floorless trains like other converted stand-ups? I know those are all B&Ms, but this was Intamin using B&M's track design, surely they're still compatible. And the UK doesn't have any floorless coasters so it'd still retain its uniqueness in that regard.

Can u make a video where u merge all the Thorpe park rides into one on planet coaster
dis dude is underrated
I got knocked out from a phone falling from shockwave......... AMAZING!!1!11!!
They last time I rode Shockwave was when it first opened. Are the cable cars still there Dan?
I don’t think they are sadly, I remember doing them as a kid and they’re now gone ☹️

Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you
This will be awesome
Shockwave is Cool and I think that this new sit down Roller coaster is going to be Awesome too!
"In the world" can never be an overused joke 🙏
They should replace the straight track sections to have bunny hills.
It will be spinning like "ride to happiness" at plopsaland.
I think this will improve the ride. It's crazy uncomfortable at the moment. I do agree the layout is a bit bland though.
they could have used the stand up trains for that one coaster where the trains are surf boards
That is not the only stand up coaster left in cavinato in Italy is a relocated roller coaster sky rider from Canada wonderland
On ride soundtrack maybe?
Great decision for the park.
UK’s only Floorless Coaster??
Question is, will it be a new credit?
FIRST! (Don't mean to be that guy, but it's my natural instinct 😂) I'm going to miss Shockwave's unique feature, but it's gonna be nice! Love the content dan!
Maybe with this new change they can finally change the name to shockingly wavey 😂😂😂
😂😂
Is it going floorless then?

I reckon the entertainment while riding is new music on eide
when more ridesims? maby do a hard diffictulty ride
Its not the only standup in europe. We still have Freestyle in italy. A togo standup
I didn’t know that existed! Looks like a fun coaster actually 🙌🏻🔥
What if the back row stays stand up
you are like the best youtuber
Thank you!!
