You wrote some comment on my video, and i goes to check your channel. It was interesting - no boring head-talking videos, many of surron-riding, correct and respectful communication, and videos from opposite side of the our planet. i've seen NY only on computer games and hollywood movies. I bought a new house in the Hudson Valley and have been super busy with that and the family. I have a few things queued up just the editing takes time. Def still riding around never gets boring

Honestly never had an issue in Manhattan Brooklyn or Queens. Only time I had an issue was at Jacob Riis Park - you can find the video on my channel. However the ticket I got was for a closure violation and didn’t really have anything to do with the bike anyway. You should be good as long as you ride respectfully

Just ride it around stock at first then determine what you wanna upgrade. Everyone has it different!

Congrats on the milestone. Have you watched the “worth it?” video on juiced joyrides channel?, he talks about the upgrade rabbit hole sur ron owners go down lol. Your build is basically equivalent to a 125/150cc moto/moped. Have you ever considered a moto/moped?. I live in nyc too, and I can’t decide btwn the two. Mopeds are more responsibility and have a bad rep currently in nyc, but it would be nice to not have to worry about range anxiety, and dropping another 2.5k on a battery upgrade. Sorry for the essay, but I would love to hear your thoughts
Hey man thanks! It all depends on what works for your current situation! For me, the Surron is super lightweight and easy to charge. So I can bring it inside my apartment no problem to keep it safe and charging costs next to nothing. Plus I’m a big fan of the way it looks, so I may be biased in my opinion because of that - it is a badass looking bike. Also, having the torque that it has helps me get ahead of traffic at a green light, and the suspension is great for handling curbs, potholes, and unexpected terrain that you can come across in the city. Plus it’s quiet and discreet. All of these factors really add up to why I really love this bike - no other bike interests me tbh
@SurronNYC thanks for the detailed reply. I finally have enough saved($3450) for the red talaria x3 that I’ve been lusting over lol, but I’m balking on pulling the trigger. I see used sur rons on marketplace that go for that price, also a 150cc moped is only $1500. How much would you pay for a used sur ron, what yr, and how many miles?. I have a car, I’m just looking for something fun to ride, with the ability to do uber eats for a couple of hours after my main job.
@jayowen286 I debated on getting a used surron but decided not to. Main reason being is that you have no idea what that bike went thru. Maybe it got submerged in water and you never know. I opted to get brand new since I will know all mods that go into it and I will own my bike. (Plus there’s nothing quite like a brand new shiny Surron).
If you were to buy used anything under 10,000 miles should be fine. 2022 and 2023 models are better.
Thanks for the advice, so as high as 10k miles is still a good buy huh, I didn’t know that. There are many on the market place that meet the criteria you listed, what’s the most you’d pay for used?. What’s your thoughts on the x3?. I think it would be a good starter bike that would hold its resale value, and down the road I could upgrade to a sur ron or segway xyber 😏. I just hate that the x3 is priced so closely to the price of a used sur ron
@jayowen286 idk I heard mixed reviews on the x3. Some love it others not so much. I can’t really speak for it myself as I never tried one. I think used most I would pay is 2500

Question though 🤔... why is a bike like this speed allowed on a slower bike lane? A main safety goal is gained bij not mixing these to transport modusses. It does not matter which tool you use.
And i even see that you can use the highspeed freeway as well .

In NYC, E-bikes are allowed in traffic as long as they can keep up with traffic

Hey man, how risky is it getting a moped style ebike like a ghostcat with a pedal in Brooklyn/Manhattan? I really want a ghost cat but i also dont want it getting impounded 😂. I don't care riding 20mph going to work and all that. I can do the crazy stuff elsewhere 😂
