This was my second FA Cup final to watch on TV following the previous years win for Spurs over Leicester. They won this one and another in 1967 and sandwiched in between was a European Cup Winner's Cup success. From the media coverage, to the style of play, to the way people watch it, to the money floating around at every level, football then was in a completely different place. So was the game better in those days? Well certainly I enjoyed it more then, mainly because there were no egoistic players throwing themselves around looking for penalties. However because the game is far more diverse in terms of the amount of different nationalities on show, it can be said it offers a better perspective.
Time stamps 2:22 Jimmy Greaves goal Spurs 1-0 Burnley 4:52 Jimmy Robson goal Spurs 1-1 Burnley 5:20 Bobby Smith goal Spurs 2-1 Burnley 6:33 Danny Blanchflower penalty Spurs 3-1 Burnley
Regards to your family and my sympathy at the passing of your father. A Spurs legend who made a difference to football both at home and in the World Cup. My best wishes to you.
Note the gaggle of press photographers crouched on the ground at either side of the goals. No need for 'em nowadays. Replaced by a row of continuously-running video cameras behind the goals, not a human operator in sight.
What No ripping the shirt off after they scored. Racing towards the corner flag ,sliding on their knees . Making the sign of the cross on their chests. Pointing up to heaven ? Football must have been boring then 😁
Loved seeing my great, great Uncle Arthur Caiger in the white suit conducting the orchestra.
The community singing was a wonderful tradition back then.
Made you proud to be British
@davidpendry7731 it sure did.
My mum went on a date with Danny Blanchflower long before I was born. Apparently, all he did was talk about football. There wasn't a second date! :D
If there was something, you wouldn't be existing
Knowing our Dan, she'd probably have had trouble getting a word in whatever the subject!!
Very quaint. I would love to be able to time travel and sample those times

A legend who scored a world cup goal. My best wishes to you. What a family legacy!
This I think was the last final played with the open stands before the full roof was built for the 1966 World Cup.
I'm a spurs football fan since 1962
Where did that Britain go?
Ask the politicians

Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur!
The magic feet of Jimmy Greaves...
My great grandfather, Charles 'Charlie' Charles, played inside half for Burnley.
I saw him play as well. It was almost as if the ball were glued to his feet!

Why did they think we’d want to listen to two minutes of community singing before the football? Tip: fast forward.
Part and parcel of the FA Cup.
"Up the Clarets" 2022/23 Season.
