Excellent review. I have these sights on my duty weapon (G19) and my off duty carry (S&W Shield 9). Love these sights! I even qualify with a higher score with the HD XRs.

Good stuff. Defensive use vs target use is a great differentiation. Learning the more natural muscle reactions of drawing to pushing out grip, acquiring site and into trigger pull for center of mass in a fluid natural motion for CCW is so important. I agree these big tritium sites really help with that. Good video as usual.
Thank you InSight! Yeah, I used to try to be super accurate when I competed but I’ve realized that I prefer spending time on front sight acquisition and getting rounds down range. Plus, I am really impatient and shooting slow just isn’t as much fun, lol. Cheers brother!
I just bought mine ! HD XR yellow. I have to get them installed but im sure looking forward to it. The white 3 dots on my M&P 2.0 compact are difficult to see without squinting like crazy (im old). Cant wait !!

I had HDs on my Glocks for a few years until I started trying out other sights. I really like a thin front sight, so I'm really glad they started doing that.

I've had trijicon sights on my 226 for about 11 years now. They still glow on the nightstand next to my bed so much that I can reach for a glass of water and not need the lights on...no bullshit...They're worth the money
I'm not saying they make the whole night table glow. I'm saying that you can see the reflection of the sites in the water glass, glass not plastic. Just wanted to make that clear

Great review, I love the honesty of all your reviews instead of trying to push a particular product or products like some others. I don't have any HD sights but I was wondering if you liked the yellow or the orange sight better. I already know I would rather have the new HD XR's because I prefer more space in the sights kind of like the factory PPQ sights have.

Excellent review. For the G19 gen4 I have Trijicons HD and for the VP9 the Truglo Tritium Pro, both are excellent, I love them both

HDs on my G19 and G43. They are excellent, so good I switched from big dots to the HDs.

The yellow color has now been proven scientifically to be picked up by the eye many times quicker than the red. In fact EOtech's brand new holographic scope that came out last year is green.
I've had good luck with Trijicon in the past, but I don't think I've tried this particular model. Good stuff brother, have a great day!

Both of those provide a nice sight picture. (Nice camera work BTW with the clarity of the sights and rolled-in window.) I like the flat, serrated rear sights with the blacked out look. That really helps with front sight acquisition in regular lighting. I'm probably going to put the HD XR's on my M2.0's after I get the Apex triggers installed. My G19 unfortunately still has the lousy stock sights on it. But I think I'll stick with Meprolight's 3 dot Tritium night sights, as I already have them installed on my G17 and G21 for consistency sake. They're good night sights as they are very bright, brighter than most. However, I haven't compared them against the HD's yet, but the HD XR's will most likely be on my M2.0's. Thanks MileHigh! I agree, the fast acquisition is great with the XRs. When it comes to upgrading, it can be pretty costly to do them all at once so I totally understand the G19 sights, Meprolights are great options and very cost effective. I've been using them for years! Cheers brother!
Good review.Ive had the regular hd's on a few guns and I went with the orange because the yellow tends to wash out in glaring conditions,at least in my experience.

I've never put aftermarket iron sights on my pistols but I'm considering getting these for one of my Glocks to test them out. What Glock should I try first? G26, G19, G47, or G43x Mos...all comments welcome
Trijicon HD sights are great I have them on one of my G19's. I have TruGlo on my other Glocks.

Changing all my sights over to HDs wish the XR would have been out when I started but they were not so going with the standard. Just need suppressor height HD sights now

This goes for anyone who’s used both the HDs and HDXRs. In your honest opinion which model would be ideal for self defense? Ik most encounters would be real close anyways but if you had to pick only one which would it be? TIA

Have you heard of the Grip Force RTS rear sights that match up with the trijicon HD front sight?
The RTS rear has different angles designed to further drive your eyes to the front post. You should look jnto those and do a review.

Trigicon is too rich for me lol, I've gone with the ameriglo's on a few of my carry pistols, they are just as good imo and a lot cheaper. Good video as always dude!

The yellow HD’s that is.
Already own the orange on a G19. Learned from experience that, for me, the yellow actually contrasts way better than the orange. Certain times of the day the orange slightly blends with the background when in the outdoors. I guess bc ppl instinctively think the orange will show better since it’s iconic for that roll. That was my reasoning anyway.
Anyways. Yellow Trijicon HD GL101Y’s on sale at Amazon for $100. Compatible with all Glock 9mm aside from MOS versions. Think their are 8 left. Purchased a set for my G45.

Nice review, as always. Question: how have you set up your camera? It seems to be overhead with a tripod? I'm trying to find a better set up with my camera where I can get a good picture and look at what I'm filming at the same time. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Thank you 32! I use a Yi 4K Action camera and it sits between me and the table on a tripod. I have to wrap my arms around the tripod and a look around it all on the left side. I use my phone with the Yi app as a viewer so I can see what the camera sees and the phone sits just off camera on the left edge of the table. It’s decent but I want to upgrade everything at some point. I’d like to do a DSLR camera and shotgun mic. But for the money, that Yi is awesome. Thank you and let me know if you have other questions! I run the standard HD on almost all my pistols. I prefer the orange. With my old eyes and needing reading glasses (to read) I found I prefer the standard HD as that front sight is not "clear" when presenting my pistol even though I'm focusing on it and not my target. The new narrower style are harder for me to focus on...

Got the yellow based on a bunch of people saying they were "better" .... but wish I went with the orange. I had orange Ameriglos which were so much easier to see!
I love these sights but I want to remove them but that $150 I spent 🤬. The problem is the rear sight leans over the rear of the slide and it’s uncomfortable appendix carry because it’s sharp. If you carry appendix I’d choose something else unless you have kydex that covers the rear sight against your body

I’ve been using the HD XRs (Orange) for a while now on my G19. I finally got my hands on a 19X (been wanting one for a while!) and I had not planned on replacing the sights since it comes with Glock (metal) factory night sights out of the box. Well...I think I held out for maybe 2 weeks before I broke down and put a set on the 19X. I know sights are a somewhat personal thing. These just happen to suit me perfectly in every way. I have Truglo and Ameriglo as well on a couple of others - but the XRs just really stand out for me and have effectively spoiled me 😉
do you still prefer using the XRs? i'm on the fence about buying them
Ameriglo Spaulding CAP sights are the best defensive sights imo.

I disagree with the statement that glock does not come out off the box with anything good Yes they are not a competition gun but they are a dam good and reliable fighen gun As we all know or should know that’s what they are designed for I think some people try to take the glock out off the glock to much

For a defensive handgun, I prefer XS Big Dot sights.
I’ve only shot the XS sights a couple of times but know several people who swear by them. I understand that they are incredibly easy to pick up, especially when shooting at shorter distances. Thank you for sharing and cheers!

Did your XR come with a set screw? Mine didn’t for rear sight & factory one doesn’t fit
When it comes to Trijicon I believe the HD stands for Heavy Duty not High Definition . Idk like it matters .
9 years is the life on night sights after that it will slowly dim out
Some get as many as 12 to 15.
@@KSGunGuy01 i can believe it the half life is 12 years but personally i noticed a change right at the 10 year mark on my gen 3 17..real question is do i buy new night sights or a new gun ?

1776 or Bust I've seen your review on them. So you would choose the I Dot Pros over the HD XRs? Because those are the 2 I'm torn between. I'm used to 3 dots though & wonder if when pie'ing a corner & your gun is canted some aren't the 2 dots harder to know you're aligned correctly?
Glock doesn't come stock with anything good out of the box. That's why people spend another G to upgrade them. Glock perfection? Hey Glock fan boys, the new Glockphone 6 is coming out soon.
