That's how I treat every single TCG set I buy cases for, or even single booster boxes of. They aren't "investments". They aren't your 401K or whatever other nonsense people like Rudy want to claim they are. They are cards meant to be for games. And if they crash, I still have stuff I can open and have a blast with cause I love them regardless of their monetary worth.

My point was I personally give no care if my TCG stuff crashes or spikes. I bought it cause I love it. I saw that a new Weiss set is based on Shakugana no Shana and I am 1000% buying a case of it. Or just any future Pokemon set since I buy a case of each set. If they come out and "go to 0" and never go up again, sure it might suck, but I ultimately don't care one bit cause I still love it.

Not even a new concept about Overhated Pokemon sets becoming high valued collectibles in the future: Even before Evolutions the most well known example of all is the e-Reader series, specifically Expedition, Aquapolis and Skyridtge. these sets were LOATHED at the time due to things like dropping the number of cards in packs and lowering the power level of all the cards inside of them, but fast forward to now and you have Aquapolis and Skyridge cards being possibly the most valued and sought after Pokemon cards in history.

Seems that when you keep the market satisfied with product at MSRP the tcg's can be corrected back to the way it should be which is collect for the long haul and you can see your collection go up but not in a couple months because everyone is just buying and holding but no one is playing (Metazoo cough). Astral Radiance is the sleeper set in Sw/Sh.... it's criminally underrated. Fusion Strike is most def going to be up there with Evo Skies.Fusion has a ton of alt arts and is one of 3 sets that have VMAX alt arts with Intelleon, Gengar, Espeon, .... the ultra rare V/VMAX pokemon being Pikachu, Tyranitar, Gengar, Cinderace, Chandelure, Intelleon, Rillaboom, Lucari, and Genesect... These 2 sets are bar none the biggest sleepers. Chilling Reign is the most criminally cheap price set on the market.... its my favorite. It has over 100 secret rare and high end collectable cards in the set. There are chases from Alt Art, Full Art, Gold, Rainbow, and the full art trainer is the most of any set and to me, its the best trainer lineup of any Pokemon set.
Interesting stories. Doesn't surprise me that manipulation happens, if it happens on Wall Street, why wouldn't it happen on a community-run unregulated market? But the best take away is that understanding market psychology is key.

I have been telling people that Fusion and Chilling were going to go big for over a year. I put more into those two than any other set. However, I also thought Brilliant would be huge a long time ago, and almost put as much into it, so there's that prediction. And, I love hearing the inside baseball on the pricing schemes because I have been seeing that, but there is so little public discussion that it just remains a hunch without evidence. Buying from Fairy and Frog make the hackles on the back of my neck stand up.

Don't forget Lost Origin! For me it's one of the best sets in swsh behind evolving skies. Chilling Reign/Fusion Strike and Lost Origin are really strong sets and in longterm you have now the best opportunity with lost origin, because the price is still under 150. Mark my words.

I'm a proud owner of 3 Chilling reign cases. Got em during the crash. 2 of em had a pretty low cost basis for the time even, I think they were like 450 after taxes and shipping. One of em I traded a small collection for. The set always had staying power. 170 dollar Blaziken. Legendary birds. Golden Snorlax. There's just too much to track. I don't understand why people think the pattern will ever change. Sets that are primed to do well are very clear if you pay attention. 151 to the moon.
