The first time I arrived in that desert and heard the song and I was like, couldn't they make better music? But then the more I played I started to love it now it's one of my favorites
Glad ya came around, it's for sure one of the moodiest tracks in the series. The complexity isn't much and the melody is simple, but the *mood* is undeniable
This song works for every desert in every game Like mute your games music and play this as you explore or even better if you're playing a game that lacks music then just put this on when you enter the desert it makes it a whole experience
Ngl, TP has one of the best sound tracks in the Zelda series (like somewhere in the top 3 at least), and in my opinion, one of the best tracks in video games in general.
tbf, the Gerudo Valley theme conveys the Canyon/Valley atmosphere, which is different from a desert. Valleys and Canyons fringing deserts often do have some nature, but have a more wild feel, while deserts are openly hostile. They made the song for Gerudo Valley's context, and just reused it for the Haunted Wasteland.
You're goddamn right. I love trying to snipe targets from as far away and as stealthily as possible in this part of the game. The song playing over all of it is just too notch.

dont wanna sound like a nerd but, actually, its a combination of islamic music with spanish music, the history behind the music of the gerudo is really interesting, but really summed up its basically spanich music before it was called spanish music, or before it was spashish music
I don't think it was weak, I just think BotW was trying to achieve a different affect with its music, one that accented the world and the mood as opposed to creating one. The older games certainly had more powerful and bombastic tracks, and I do have to say that BotW isn't my favourite Zelda track, but it's certainly not without merit

I personally prefer this over the Gerudo Valley theme. I feel it reflects the atmosphere of a desert better.
