I always think of the Aral Sea when I hear either this or the Sand Sea theme. The Aral Sea is a lot like a real-world version of Lanayru-- it's now a desert, but not 60 years ago it was a great sea, alive with fish and sailors. Abandoned fishing canneries and ghost ships, now homes to wild camels and tumbleweeds, still sit decaying and forgotten in the now-barren desert as unsettling reminders of what once was.

This song really provides a melody that not only enhances the atmosphere of the desert but also resembles the emptiness of the province itself. I will admit fully that I found this part of Skyward Sword to be somewhat boring. However I still enjoyed the challenge of exploration roaming through Lanayru desert as well as the beautiful melody. One of the best memories I have of Lanayru Desert was me always yeeting myself off of the Sandship because my Wii remote froze or always flying the beetle thing into the dragon - I still do it to this day and it's just as fun now as it was back then.
That opinion would be more appreciated if you gave reasons. My favourite Zelda game is SS because of the plot, the amazing soundtrack, the Lanayru culture (that includes the desertification and time reflexion), the dungeons, etc. In TP the dungeons felt so lonely and dark with the ambience, non-melodic music; but in SS the music is much livelier and more pleasant to hear. I enjoy going to the Thunder Dragon's place and play some Boss Rush to get a challenge and see if I can improve my records.
I *love* all the music from Zelda games (especially Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword), but this one has been stuck in my head for a few days. I needed to hear it without having to play the game because I have to get work done...and if I turn SS on today, the only "work" I'll accomplish will be slaying Bokoblins and finding treasure. :)
Certainly, it would be interesting. Personally, I was disappointed when I found out that all I could explore in the past was Hylia's Temple and Realm. =( Wanted to see the Lanayru province in its glorious state. Oh well.

Video game music is composed the exact same way as any other type of music. The only reason some orchestrated pieces arent praised enough is because they dont have such a pretentious following of hipsters.
This game I have such nostalgia for. It was my first ever zelda game and I think it's my favorite. I remember when they had the commercials for it on tv I said, "Dad I need this!". When I got it for Christmas I couldn't play it because I didn't have the motion part for the remote. So I couldn't play it for awhile until my grandparents sent me 2 of them. I loved the game when I played it, I still do.
I remember my last playing session being nearly 5 hours long, and it was when i did the whole desert area. The atmosphere of the place just was simply realistic. The desert that stretches way beyond horizon, with nearly no life forms to be found, and you all alone wandering in the heat. God, my eyes hurt after that.
Every zelda game is a 10/10 in my eyes. I liked so much qualities of all the games, in this game the world through links eyes, this deserted beautiful world that's been hidden for thousands of years, Twilight princess with it's sense of impending despair and doom echoed through it's soundtrack and art style and story, Wind Waker in has it's mischievous and lovable characters and graphics, as well as one of the best plot twists in the zelda series, all Zelda games are different, but amazing too.
it amazes me that Nintendo is still so fresh and creative with this series. 25 years yet they can still take the same basic plot and make a brand new game that is as good as the ones before it
its a less dark zelda game or at least less focused on the negative aspects and is more adventurous therefore the music fits. it is the same top quality they always make just a different theme and setting
i dont see why people dislike your opinion so much,i agree with you,the Wii Motion was kind of a pain....it took me five times to beat the third fight of the imprisoned because the gameplay, but other than that, the game is really well written and specially the music, this game is by far a beautiful masterpiece.
in my opinion this is my favorite world because of just how cool the time stones are, its also the most sad one to me, if you check some of the papers on the wall in the places to unlock the temple, it will say, "plants drying up, help keep lanayru green" meaning they new the place was becoming a desert, i wish there was a way to heal the place in the present, not just going to the past, maybe if nintendo makes a legend of zelda skyward sword 2 they could add that feature.
I doubt they would make it - Nintendo Zelda was always about vicious cycles that repeat themselves over and over again.. :/ The realization of the timeline somehow is that you cant stop evil, it will always return and you need to always fight for peace no matter what. Some kind of ying yang stuff I guess. And I guess this is applicable to the real world as well, we humans will always have that weird personality trait that tells us to do evil and harm when it suits us. The tragedy of this fact gets represented in these games very well, I think.
@AlphaCrucis Faron is a nice region because of its greenness, but I am not that fond of the woods. Well, it's cool battling Bokoblins and other creatures, but I always got lost and... a bit bored. However, Eldin volcano put up a challenge. It lacks subregions, though. By that I mean: Faron had the Sealed Grounds, the woods and the deep woods; and Lanayru had got the desert, the mine, the gorge and the fantastic sand sea. I'm in the sand sea now in Hero Mode, and I'm going to re-enjoy it so much!
Fave dragon is Eldin, although he doesn't seem to do much other than give you a song. Your right about the great ambiance of this track it completely fits.
Faron is my favorite region, then Lanayru, although I was totally expecting a water area when I first read that Lanayru would be the next area. What a surprise it was to find a desert. Then, it made sense by the fifth dungeon.
@ACMilanW960i Fire Sanctuary had some cool features, but Earth Temple was great fun (though short; I would have liked it to be much longer). Nothing to do with Skyview, I don't like it as much as the other dungeons. But if I have to choose between Ancient Cistern and Skyview, I'd sure choose the latter. My most hated dungeon was exactly Koloktos's. I couldn't stand the music. Lanayru had the best dungeons IMO, with the mining facility being friggin' brilliant. The Sandship was very charming. =)
I totally agree. The only downside of it was that you had to reset it for every menu you opened unless you had it pointed at the screen all the time. But at some points, like with flying or diving, I would have liked an option to just have you control link with the analog stick.
Both titles have linear dungeons. The exceptions would be Snowpeak Ruins and Lakebed Temple in TP and the Sandship and Sky Keep in SS. Easiness, however, is subjective. It still stands that the enemies don't do as much damage in TP, which is a part of my preference.
@Posby95 my favorite area is eldin volcano because overall it was great. Fighting the lizalfos was cool and so was the music. I didnt like lanayru mining facility for some reason but i thought the sandship was one of the best dungeon.
Zelda and Nintendo games are always about the gameplay and the beautiful atmosphere, something every nintendo player knows about, wind waker had the same negative response at first ,but then Miyamoto said "the game is fun ,please don't judge it before trying it" ,and he was right,it was an amazing experience,im not trying to be judgmental here, but i honestly dont think you played it because you wanna play em all,but cuz deep inside, you knew it could turn out good,i could be wrong tho . Peace ^^
Good good, you seem llike a smart person :) ,i know many people who couldnt finish the game. anyways i love it too and gotta say ,it saved me from depression ,few games can do that ,zelda and mario are my best series EVA! ^^ Peace and always Smile :D
I prefer SS to TP as well, for similar reasons, however I felt the dungeons got weaker towards the end of SS. I was also disappointed there was no final dungeon before Demise. An epic final level is a MUST before fighting the last boss!! That is one area TP was better than SS - it had a GREAT final level. I wasn't that into the WiI remote so I'm not sure that I prefer SS to Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker, but hey I love all the Zelda games. SS had the best individual scenes and music.
Although, considering this is a fandom, which can sometimes get over reactive sometimes (happens to all fandoms), it would probably be better to say "I preferred Tp over SS". You're opinion is fine, that's just a recommendation of wording.
+Kyanna Frazer Yep. It's a great game to play. Give it another shot and, if you still are stuck, you can always look a guide up for that specific part.
I'm not sure if the price has gone down, but you do need wii motion plus to play this game. So I guess you'll have to save a bit of your money for a while. If the limited edition of the game still existed, you could get the golden Wii Remote Plus and solve the problem...
i don't like how the whole area is an obstacle course. they should have added an area that was more of a neutral area for the lanayru desert but still keep every thing.
I prefer Skyward Sword over Twilight Princess because TP was way too easy, and in Skyward Sword, enemies actually do damage (taking away a heart or more, not that 1/4 or 1/2 a heart crap; double on hero mode). Also, I enjoyed the concentration of the temples. In TP, they used large and expansive temples, whereas in SS, the temples were small and concentrated but took just as long. It's just a personal preference really. The music was good in both games.
Lanayru Desert was easily the best area in Skyward Sword.

My most hated dungeon was exactly Koloktos's. I couldn't stand the music. Lanayru had the best dungeons IMO, with the mining facility being friggin' brilliant. The Sandship was very charming. =)
0:11 Melee?
nostalgic
This whole world from skywars sword acts so mysterious
oooh...hero mode is HARD! good luck, and hope you clear the dungeon!
Egypt Theme
@Internet Asshole I hope you're trolling
Omg this dessert was so hard to pass ;_;
I totally agree.
The only downside of it was that you had to reset it for every menu you opened unless you had it pointed at the screen all the time. But at some points, like with flying or diving, I would have liked an option to just have you control link with the analog stick.
This is the most underrated Zelda song.
Playing this on a sweltering hot night
I sleep to this shit
This gives me a lot of like Rare games vibe, Banjo Kazooie, DK64 evem the original DKC trilogy
I want to play this music while I visit ancient places like Puma Punku (which is a dream of mine) Ive never played this game but I feel like I should
I respect that a lot. I'm thumbing you up.
I like to sleep with this in the background.
lmfaoo I do it too
Both titles have linear dungeons.
It just saddens me these areas hadn't night time.
Peace ^^
Lanayru Desert (Present) is nice, but what about an alternate name? I came up with Judgement of Time. Any other suggestions?
I have a name to the past version of Lanayru Desert, tough, Lanayru Greens.
Anyone else think this sounds like a remixed version of the spirit temple in some parts?
Good good, you seem llike a smart person :) ,i know many people who couldnt finish the game. anyways i love it too and gotta say ,it saved me from depression ,few games can do that ,zelda and mario are my best series EVA! ^^
Peace and always Smile :D
I play left-handed and I do alright.
Most of the game is ok, but I had a really hard time with Koloktos
im really hoping they implement the motion controls in the new zelda
reminds me of how frustrated i got on this part. i never even finished it! :( pending if i should attempt again
+Kyanna Frazer Yep. It's a great game to play. Give it another shot and, if you still are stuck, you can always look a guide up for that specific part.
+Kyanna Frazer If you need a good guide, Zelda Dungeon has a website for walkthroughs and they're even here on youtube. You're welcome. :D
+Kyanna Frazer Really? cmon, have some faith and just think like Link :p
Reminds me of Age of Empires.

You cant give in.....YOU CANT GIVE IN!!!! >:O
I actually prefer Majoras mask just for the atmosphere, but SS is a close 2nd. It's just a blast!
I'm not sure if the price has gone down, but you do need wii motion plus to play this game. So I guess you'll have to save a bit of your money for a while. If the limited edition of the game still existed, you could get the golden Wii Remote Plus and solve the problem...
I found it to be really awkward at times when I meant to do one thing and Link did something else.
Might just me being motion deaf though.
dis is nice :)
aka The Bus Stop theme
This song and all the other presents songs sound so dead in a good way
i don't like how the whole area is an obstacle course. they should have added an area that was more of a neutral area for the lanayru desert but still keep every thing.
Both are nice games, TP was a little more original, this SS thing was original too, but i feel like i was watching an anime or something xD
Oh how funny pictures
really? because the motion plus combat was well designed, and it lead to some really creative boss battles.
