My son's hair is a little more curlier than your son's. But his hair was doing the same thing and I thought I was doing something wrong. It's nice to know I wasn't and I am glad you put this video out. I searched so many videos for his hair type and couldn't find one.
Bredren, have you thought about braid locks? Or what I call straight and twist locking? I have pretty straight hair as an Asian. But I have braided my locks. And from the roots on out, I am twist locking with aloe locing gel. I can send you some photos. But they are coming out pretty good. And I make sure to use a cap when sleeping and showering. And just keep twisting and loc gel it up. If the the braids get loose, I just loc them up with more gel. But where the braid ends and where the hair leaves the scalp by the roots, I have about 2-3 inches of locked, (controlled matting) of hair.
Common misconception i found is that Hair does not have to be wavy or curly or kinky to loc. It helps for strands of hair to weave and wave in together. But even straight hair over time stick and lock up together. Cause hair on the microscopic level have barbs, and they hook together and lock up to the point where if you pull them apart, they can break cause they are so stuck together.
I started by making them real small braids. Over time I will take the middle and bottom sets thicker by braiding 3 smaller locks into bigger ones. The ones on top of my head I will keep as the original smallest sizes. But as you go down my scalp towards my neck and bottom hairline, I start locking smaller ones into bigger ones. Where the biggest ones are at the most bottom. The layering braiding of smaller into bigger makes the locs even cooler and and interesting intricate layering of braids and locs.
those are tangled micro braids ngl, you can't just tangle your hair and call it locs, you may be able to convince yourself that you have locs but you have microbraided matted tangles with aloe vera gel
Love it!! 1st I’ve seen on UA-cam with the same hair as me!! I know the coil method takes longer for 2C hair but I love how full the locs are. I want to loc up one day but I’m afraid of them being really skinny and sparse looking.
His hair looks amazing. I'm almost 16 now I got my dreads roughly 1 year ago and as a young person my adition to fast reward was huge but now I have patients I think it's great for him ( sorry for bad grammar English is not my first language and I'm dyslexic)
DeAnna Mayes I interlock my hair and it’s 4b/c. I just love the way interlocking maintains my frizzies. I had to interlock in the beginning to keep them together. But what do we know. 🤷🏾♀️💯
Hey Gunther I need a video about how to attach a ripped off dread from the root My dread got ripped out from my scalp No it didn’t fall out some one ripped it out
I got hurr similar 2 shorty & wen i started i started wit small azz singles [individual braids] lol & then 2 hand twisted mah singles 2gether & braided same way as dreads & before u knew it tha roots started budn lol 💯💯💯 took bout 2months mah shit wuz lockd.....
Put them in two strand twist first and let them stay in for a few weeks then in ravel then. The locs will be a little tighter. My son has the same texture hair but a little curlier
I mean he's still young...my pops wouldn't let me cut my hair for almost 5 years, it kinda sucked but it taught me so much. So I would say that you should let him have fun while he's young, I'm sixteen and I decided to grow my hair out again 😂
i think it should be up to him. if he likes it he feels good about it. no one else should try to change what u want. my mom tells me to cut off my curly hair or really short but i lose my confidence. there for i keep my curls/fro at a mediamish length
I have really thick and long hair and I want dreads And I don’t brush my hair so it’s going with freeform dreads and I don’t really try to make dreads should I go to the barbershop/salon or?
I think that y'all should for sure let him at least keep his finger coils and let them lock up, they look really good and suit him well but exactly like you said, as long as he wants them for HIM and not just because you have dreads.
Let him make this decision. It’s not going to hurt anyone and if he ends up not liking them, it’s a good lesson on thinking things out all the way. My son wants to grow his hair out again ( he’s twelve) and it’s at this horrible stage it looks like a helmet on his head or something 😂 .. But he doesn’t want to even get it shaped up. It drives me crazy 😂 but I want him to figure out his own style, so I’m letting him. Lol. Of course I’m giving him my input, but in the end it’s his hair. 😊
I had to wait for my first set of locs. I wanted them when I was 6 but mom said no. She finally said yes when I was 15 and I got them for my sweet 16. Mom got locs as well but took them out because beeswax was used and she is allergic to that. I took mines out when I was 17 or 18. I now have my 4th or 5th set of locs that are hightop locs no product just oil when I remember and feel like putting oil in my hair.
bruh- chill out. he's a kid, his hair is part of his self-expression. he will make mistakes with it. he will experiment. he will find what works. let him.
Do you think anyone can look good with dreads? I'm a black male, 18, and I asked some classmates if I would look decent on me and they said "don't get dreads" but I think it's because I've had my hair short for so long so they can't imagine me with any other hair.
They look good you'll should start slow with a synthetic install around his reals hair or even if yall dont want them for him do that so he can have a feel for what dreads are like
I think the 2 strand twist would work better for his hair type... understand your family is still debating whether to keep this style that's why the twist would hold up better and you can take down if your not happy with it.. but he has really straight hair.. so dreads are not for that hair type but love the video of course
I feel like you should make them a little more uniform at least the same size sections, and a bit smaller so that they can last with the method you suggested .. at least allow him that so that in the future if he wants it a bit more undone and uneven he can do that himself.. but this is my first video of yours and idk where he’s at with his journey today.. just my opinion .. also the products you are using causes build up which can In the long run have your locs become so heavy and hard.. Incase you didn’t know.. 🤓🕊

He's young, if he wants to do something with his hair you should let him. And so what if it looks "messy" they're dreadlocs.
I kind of agree, but he's still the father, so he should choose
You're totally right
Its Treasure nah he shouldn’t the kid needs some space to make his own decisions
Him being young is all the reason why he shouldn’t choose his hair style. The parents definitely should decide.

Starting his with 2 strand twist might work better.

His hair is so beautiful, I'm honestly envious 😂
Would you recommend 2 strand twist to start with his hair type?
I don't think he's going to like them with the weight/maintenance.

Hey Gunther I need a video about how to attach a ripped off dread from the root
My dread got ripped out from my scalp
No it didn’t fall out some one ripped it out
That's like asking how to put your arm back on if it came off, it won't work, shaving your head and regrowing it evenly is my advice
RoyalToonz I guess
Naw you don’t have to cut all your hair. I’ve had a dreadlock reattached with a crotchet hook and needle. It’s possible and will look like the rest.
@@kybrown2434 You can crochet hook it back on if the hair strand is long enough, but it got completely ripped out
@@tairengosal7546 Actually, I got an idea, wait for the section that was ripped out to grow an inch, then you can crochet hook the dread back on
