  • Right-wing leaders and organizations, including Moms For Liberty, have taken up new targets against fluoride in drinking water to stir culture war, which will only prove to be detrimental to everyone's health. John Iadarola and Sharon Reed break it down on The Damage Report.
    Read more here:
Medical freedom vs. public health: Should fluoride be in our drinking water? - www.nbcnews.com/health/health...
"The culture wars have a new target: your teeth.
Communities across the U.S. are ending public water fluoridation programs, often spurred by groups that insist that people should decide whether they want the mineral - long proven to fight cavities - added to their water supplies.
The push to flush it from water systems seems to be increasingly fueled by pandemic-related mistrust of government oversteps and misleading claims, experts say, that fluoride is harmful.
“The anti-fluoridation movement gained steam with Covid,” said Dr. Meg Lochary, a pediatric dentist in Union County, North Carolina. “We’ve seen an increase of people who either don’t want fluoride or are skeptical about it.”"

They probably use sea or kosher salt, one of the reasons why they might have higher cancer rates and poor childhood brain development. Iodine was pulled from many bread products and substituted with potassium bromate, so they went from using something with certain cancer retarding retarding properties and required for brain neurogenesis to one that promotes certain cancers.

I thought that was good evidence for my point that fluoride is good. He came back with how he believes our grandma had perfect teeth to her dying day, and she never had fluoride in her water. Grandma had false teeth.

I was born in 1950. Every child had cavities and had to have teeth filled on a regular basis until nearly everyone I knew had 70% to 100% of non-incisor teeth filled. Then fluoride was finally added to water (county/city decisions) in King and Snohomish Counties (Washington State) beginning in 1968. Result: Children in counties with fluoride no longer had more than one or two cavities during their childhoods. However, adding fluoride in King County was first proposed in 1951 but was not implemented until 1970. Why? Because right-wing conservatives claimed fluoridation was a "communist plot" to take over the U.S.
My family began individual fluoride drops each morning around 1961-62. My younger brothers and I never had another cavity after about three months of treatment. (Individual drops were ended when the water supply became fluoridated.)
Why would anyone with an ounce of empathy for children and a modicum of sense oppose adding fluoride to water? Such a program comes under public health for the community. Right-wing/MAGA conservatives continue to be bonkers.

The mouth is an organ. It needs to be treated as such. I'm wondering when our own government will figure that out...🤔🤔🤔
As a Cardiac ICU RN of 30+ years I have seen deaths from endocarditis...from gum disease and pyorrhea. Millions of bacteria are released every time you brush. Decay is opportunistic to them. I have seen surgeons refuse to do surgery until teeth are addressed. Anesthesiologists have had to discuss oral issues with patients regarding their dental dangers when being anesthetized. It's a question asked in several places of pre op history questionnaires for those reasons. The mouth...is an organ.

IMO, fluoridated water being mandated is no different really than laws around having children in the car. Child seats, riding in the back until reaching a certain weight or height, these are all based on scientific data to protect children based on the design of cars, and how crashes effect the passengers in the car. Because children don’t have the education or reasoning skills to make these decisions for themselves. Once they are adults, they are free to make ignorant choices for themselves if that’s what they want to do, but children shouldn’t suffer for the ignorance of their parents.
I also wanted people to be aware that last year, I had the water pipes coming into my house replaced at no cost to me. It was part of the “get the lead out” program in Denver, funded by the infrastructure bill enacted by the Biden Administration. I live in an older neighborhood, and because of this program, my neighborhood and many others in Denver have safe drinking water.

Want to see something really heartbreaking? Look up Obstetric nurses talking about the awful still born and newborn deaths caused by the anti-hospital propaganda of the moronic “Sovereign Citizen” people. Modern folks who haven’t seen the full spectrum of mother & infant deaths that can occur without proper prenatal and delivery care have come to think that humans can delivery babies as easy as dogs and deer. They can’t. Before modern hospital births and antibiotics, the rate of women dying from pregnancy in 1935 was 6.8 in 1000 births- which sounds sort of low…until you realize there wasn’t any legally available birth control for married women, and that statistic applied for EVERY. PREGNANCY. And a woman might have 5 or more pregnancies in her lifetime. Then infant mortality was 60 per 1000 births. That means 6% of babies didn’t survive their first year- and the majority of those deaths were at or shortly after birth. Never mind the horrible lifelong pain or incontinence that can happen to a woman without medical care after giving birth.

There is a range of Fluoride that is optimum for dental health. Some drinking water sources have enough. There are a few locations where there is excess Fluoride (and some places other minerals) and removal is some places done. Most areas, in the USA have inadequate Fluoride, and adding some fixes this. Fluoridation (& removal) adjusts the amount of a mineral, which is naturally there to the optimum amount. It is not medication it is treatment of sub standard drinking water. I'm a retired Engineer who has professional knowledge of this.

I'm unable to get 5g. I'm unable to get high speed internet. I'm unable to get cable. I do have satellite TV, unless the weather is bad.
All of the culture wars these "conservatives" are trying to start don't affect me or my neighbors
As for the gas stove thing I agree with them needing regulations; especially in restaurants. My grandma already knew that breathing in that gas wasn't good for you so if we did alot of cooking or baking she'd open a window. Even in the middle of winter

I’m so sorry. My extended family still works the farm in Mississippi, and I know the actual needs of our rural voters are woefully underserved. I know you guys need internet, the right/ability to fix your own farming machines instead of being ripped off by John Deere, and from what I’ve heard, a decent nationwide cooperative for access to affordable building materials for home/out buildings wouldn’t go amiss either. And too many farming families have to have one adult work a corporate job so you guys have access to basic health/dental too.
Is there anything else I could write & nag my congress member about on your behalf? You guys grow our food- and we’d be hosed without you.

What about consent about micro plastics in everything we buy and the environment? Or consent for all the pollution that companies pump in the air water or soil. All about consent until they want to remove their truck exhaust and go coal rolling. That pumps chemicals into the air that do nothing to clean the air and people are forced to breath it and the drivers even coal roll on civilians or other drivers that irritate them. And their often the same people that hate fluoride but love all the corporate food and drink ingredients that the rest of the world has outlawed for decades because they destroy human health.

Your kid cannot be enrolled without the forms completed by a certain date (at least in my state). In the mid-20th Century, it was noted that people in Italy had considerably fewer calories than those in most other countries. It was determined that the natural presence of fluoride in the drinking water was responsible for the health benefit; hence municipal fluoridation. Stannous fluoride in toothpaste and mouthwash can also be beneficial, but the crazies will probably avoid that as well.
