- Today I am making a start on my fabric book with all the blocks I received during our Slow stitch collaboration organised by Susanna from Vintage Blend studio. I'm thinking I will put my fabric pages in a hard cover. Inspiration for the pages came from Charlotte Lyons.

I kept looking at that block thinking something had gone wrong with my brain....surely you wouldn't have a block upside down!
That's so funny! Lucky i noticed it!
Such beautiful work. I have not the knowledge to even think I have any suggestions. Now knowing me you KNOW that’s unusual for me to say.
Thank you! 😊
I have never seen such beautiful hand stitching. You and the other ladies are so talented. I am lucky if I could do a tag. Making a book is brilliant. Thanks for sharing 😍🌴💕
Thank you so much!
Rachel, I don’t think you need to worry about detracting from the pieces. You are like a weaver putting the pieces together and amalgamating them. I love what you are doing with this. How wonderful to have something so beautiful to work on and enjoy.
Thank you so much!
You do great work. I’m inspired to get to work. SoSo Beutiful. ❤
Thank you so much 😊
PURE GOLD RACH!!!...Huge hugs...Maxxii-Michelle xxxxx

WOW 😍😍❤️❤️ this is truly amazing, a true TREASURE!!!! I’m in awwww ❤️❤️❤️ you are all so very talented 👍👍👍 love the fabric ❤️❤️ thank you so much for sharing 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Thank you so much!
This border reminds me of Sarah’s Christmas journal you made. You created a bag for it and used this concept around the edges. I think it was the Christmas journal. Maybe it was her birthday. Lol I can remember exactly
Oh Rachel!!! So lovely! I think your borders make it all one cohesive story! Your expertise at paper collage is showing in your talent for collaging fabric! You have quite the eye! Thanks for letting us watch!
Thank you so much!
I think that looks nice with the border.
Thank you so much!
I like the added fabric on the edges. The boarder fabric ties all the pages together.
Thank you so much!
This is going to be a wonderful book what it is finished.
Thank you so much!
Rachel, my stuff's still in storage, but I've been watching. I've gone through three phones in two months, and my son got tired of not being able to call, so he bought me this huge and expensive phone and put it under no questions asked replacement warranty under his phone, so now learning to use it. The sales person told him I could fly the international space station with this phone. And he replied. She just wants to watch UA-cam craft videos and scroll through pinterest. So, when I logged on this am, this video popped up. Oh my goodness, is this drool worthy or what? 4th of July is my favorite holiday, since my kid quit believing in Santa and ruined it for both of us. You know the rule., stop believing he stops coming. I know you've been having my too long comments withdrawal. Ha. This is beyond wonderful. I'm up early this quiet Sunday morning, still snuggled under my warm blankets, and about to watch how you created this. I know you and Sarah and your mom (who must be thrilled) have broken the internet with your slow stitch project. My arthritic hands have issues, but I still love the videos. I've been invited to spend a month, or longer, with my daughter from another mother, ha, and her lovely family. Her daughter is turning 13 in March. One thing we're going to do is go through her mother's clothes, whom died 11 years ago, and she was so heartbroken she couldn't bear to throw/give away her clothes. I'm taking my sewing machine which also embroiders and quilts and we're going to make quilts for all the grandchildren, and I told her, it doesn't have to only be fabric, you can slow stitch, etc. And her 12 y/o daughter's eyes lit up to be included. For her birthday I'm making her a needle keep and a stocked full of gorgeous colors thread box. You only turn 13 once. But I've introduced your channel. And hopefully she will love creating with textile and paper art, or combos, which I hope she continues throughout her life. I don't call you the Martha Stewart of UA-cam for nuttin'. OK. My fingers are cramping from holding this giant phone and texting, so this comment will have to suffice for awhile, ha. I hope everyone is well, Hugs, Patricia
That's so lovely your son bought you a phone! So pelased you are well and safe! Thank you so much!
Hi Rachael, wow do I love your new under construction embroidery book! Awesome 👏 I like your idea of framing the pieces, but using the same colors drown out the pieces. I think a plain color would show off he pieces more. But that’s just me🤪I may be wrong.Maybe coffee dye the cloth first? As you would say, “It doesn’t matter”, I’m sure it will be beautiful as all you do is. Hugs.
Thanks so much! 😊
This will be so beautiful Rachel❤️
Thank you so much!
Epic really!! I kept thinking the most beautiful largest snippet roll ever!!! Love following you ladies with these!! The stitching Goddesses/gods are salivating for certain! x
Thank you so much!
simply gorgeous love your work
Thank you so much!
Oh wow this is so beautiful!!!
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you very much!
So very beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
I think you thought of every thing , awesome project start to finish, it has gotten me hooked. Enjoy stitching with you and the others from the challenge!
Thank you so much!
This is already beautiful
Thank you so much!
So beautiful and inspiring. Xx
Thank you so much!
I love this idea, Rachel! I think it's lovely how you're putting them together. The fabrics along the edges don't feel too busy to me. I framed all of mine in shadow boxes but watching you is making me want to work with them by hand. I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Sew on!
I think they sound lovely in shadow boxes. I hope it works out well! Thank you so much!
This is looking great Rachel, l was just thinking l had better put mine together and your video came up. What a gorgeous book this will be, l just love it ♥️♥️♥️ Hugs Susanna xx 😄🧵
I can't wait to see what you do! Thank you so much!
Hi Rachel - Have you thought about tea dyeing the white sheet? I think it would look pretty. I like the fabric borders you are adding. I think the fabric border on Jeanette’s piece takes away from her piece. Maybe use some solid or small print fabric around her piece or even lace. I’m sure whatever you decide to do will be beautiful. I’m not being negative just being honest. This will be an amazing book once you get it all together. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
Thank you so much!
I would have perhaps coffee or tea dyed the fabric first. I would then maybe have just out the odd piece like a cluster on one or two of the edges and blanket stitches around that page. I’m really not sure as I have to play as you do when I prepare a page. Am sure whatever you decide to do it will be beautiful as all your work is.
I have horded yours and Suzannas fabric for my first 2. I believe it would be really fun to do them while John recoups from his triple bypass.
Oh I saw Moda fabric salvage. I love Moda fabric. The French General I have that fabric.
I love their fabric too!
Wow, this is absolutely stunning!!! 💕💕💕💕
Thank you so much!
Love it!! Love it!!!
Thank you so much!
Love how you have decided how your pages will be. It looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing this project thank you for sharing Rachel 😊
Thank you so much!
I love this! I was so hoping you would use the book form, to be able to see each piece on it's own. A thought--use archival paper [like museums use] between each stitchery, folded like any journal page, to protect each one? Then you could include maker information on the paper itself, or add a pocket for the extra bits, but between the paper sheets, not touching the fabrics themselves.
Thank you so much!
@@roxycreations679 Another thought with this idea....pages between could also feature pictures of the pieces YOU made for each of the ladies. And then possibly pictures of how each lady 'finishes' their own pieces.
Stunning! Can’t wait to see the final result. BTW, I finished all the videos of the 100-day project! They were so inspiring and so much fun to watch. Thanks again for your willingness to share your time and creativity with us.
Thank you so much!
wow, so pretty and such a lot of work. It will all be worth it in the end though and I can't wait to see it all finished 👌
Please do some of it on camera as I really do enjoy watching you stitch! I find it so relaxing and very therapeutic to watch 😊 xoxo
Thanks so much! 😊
Amazing, wonderful, extraordinary. Very exciting project. Makes my fingers itch to stitch. Love the book cover. Very unique finishing on your part. Well done to all you inspiring ladies. Thank you 🙏💙💙💙💙💙💙
Thank you so much!
I love this idea! The hard cover book is fabulous! The fabric piece frame looks great and highlights each piece! What a wonderful project! 😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!
Wow Rachel, you never stop creating such amazing projects.......I am so grateful too be able to watch you. 😘😘❣️
Thank you so much!
Stunning!💕
Thank you so much!
What a wonderful way to display them all . I am sure that it will be a cherished family keepsake that will be admired and bring joy for many years. Lulu will remember her Auntie Sarah‘s panel as well as the other amazing ladies that contributed and her mother’s inspirational talent in creating this treasure.
Thank you so much!
This is going to be a humdinger of a project. Every page is stunningly beautiful. I like your framing of each block. It reminds me of how Gayle edges her coffee dyed papers. I’ll be interested in seeing how it is attached to your book cover. Have fun!
Thank you so much!
That fabric frame is inspired. And it takes nothing away from the pages themselves. What a stunning fabric book this will be, very very inspirational. I’m looking forward to seeing this progress. I’d love to do something similar but thinking about creating so many mini art quilts is slightly daunting. It’s best as a collaboration! 😊💐
Thank you so much!
Can’t wait to see how this turns out. I love what you have already done. Beautiful
Thank you so much!
Absolutely beautiful! I would tea dye the white fabric and then each piece of work would be framed and remain the focal point of the page. Stunning x
Thank you so much!
I love it too. You know Sarah is going to kid you about that. I suppose she very seldom makes an error.
Thank you so much!
Boo to you..... I sent you a mega parcel, just forgot to send you the small scrappy bits 😂 they are still on my table so if you are lucky, I might post them
Hahaha I loved you parcel! No need to send anymore, I have plenty!!!
It’s such a wonderful pleasure to see these amazing slow stitch pieces again. All have such an awesome inspiration to them. I love how each has their own unique style. What gorgeous works of artistic talents. I adore your ideas for them. Thanks Rach for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I LOVE this!! Your book, your way. Your eye for design is always pleasing to me. I absolutely love this and how it's coming together. I will be excited to see the future video.. Please video as much as you can. These cloth books fascinate me. Love watching you create.
Thank you so much!
Would it be easier to just apply all your border fabric trim to the entire sheet, then go back to add your fabric pages. Less fiddly, but you do you. We always love the end result.
I will probably do that when I start sewing them. Thank you so much!
What a brilliant way to assemble all these stitcheries. I love it!
Thank you! 😊
Hi Rachel, perfect way to keep these beautiful embroideries, love that your framing them with fabrics you were sent, looking forward to the next instalment xxx
Thank you so much!
Create a pocket to write a note of the name of each creater and about the challenge. I have had to start writing notes to myself and do when I'm gone. My children know the story about my treasures. Why they were treasures to me.
That's a great idea! Thank you so much!
I love the way you are framing each page, this book is going to be delightful x
Thank you so much!
Rachel, I’m a new subscriber but I’ve heard so much about you through others I subscribe to. These are the most beautiful cloth pages I’ve ever seen. I’ve been doing a bit of quilting and crazy stitch embroidery on the seams with floss and ribbon and I’m loving it. This however is a new challenge for me and I cannot wait to try this out. I love the entire concept and I’m so glad I found you. I can learn a lot from you. Thanks so much for sharing and I can’t wait to see the final results. The extra material around each piece of art is beautiful, wonderful idea !
Thank you so much!
I can't wait to see the creation of this. I may make my nephews picture book with this method. I'm making it like my granny did for me. A fabric book with pictures cut out from different sources. She made mine in 1948. Your book will be so wonderful!!! Can't wait. I will watch closely how u do it.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this process with us. You’re the only one so far to share it like this. These pieces are so unique and beautiful it is a pleasure to watch you make the book. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Stunning!
Thank you! 😊
So Fantastic...and what an awesome way to showcase everyone's beautiful blocks!!! I love it with all the pieces of fabric framing each block!!! I can't wait to see it finished Rachel!!! xo
Thank you so much!
Beautiful Rachel xoxo
This book is going to be breathtaking. Your artistry will really shine. You have such a great eye for color coordination. The fabrics you have to work with are beautiful. Can’t wait to see the finished project.
Thank you so much!
Oh my it stunning! You have inspired me to try one. Tfs. Hugs V
Thank you so much!
Love the results of adding the bits around the edge. Lovely start Rachel 💖
Thanks so much! 😊
Or shabori some of the sheet. They look fantastic together . I’m sure you would not appreciate this suggestion but you could add in a couple of spaces to put in those “ extras” on some other pages on some clusters or slow stitch compositions . Just a thought.
I'm taking notes so I can think about them. Thank you so much!
This is stunning. There is something to be inspired by for years. What a treasure. Love how you are displaying those blocks.
Thank you so much!
This is going to be so beautiful! I absolutely can not wait to see your progress on this. A true keepsake! At least one beautiful thing came out of covid!

What ever you decide Rachel, it will be just amazing !❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
Cant wait to see the flip thru when it’s done. Lovely lovely pieces.
Thanks so much 😊
What a lovely collaboration! Love how it is coming together. Your borders of related colors and patterns work so well for the individual art quilts. Not busy and provides a good flow for the eye moving from one to the next art quilt. You have such a great sense of how color and patterns work together!
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed watching this so much, what a lovely idea, it is going to look stunning when finished. Look forward to seeing how you finish it, as I just know there are going to be some surprises.
Thank you so much!
So beautiful ♥️

What a treasure! I love how you are creating a book. Will you include the names of each of the ladies in the book?
I will, I'm just thinking how I will do it. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!
Loved watching you work this out and listening to your thought process. You’ve inspired me to do something with my blocks now! Interested to see how you attach to the book! 🍄
Thank you so much!
This collaboration is amazingly beautiful, and I like the book idea because it will help protect and preserve it. I just had a little, tiny suggestion (in case it's not too late and is useful). I was thinking it might help the flow of the book if Sara's piece was on the last page. That way the different direction of it stands on its own. I love all of your slow stitch projects - so unique and beautiful.
I took heed of your suggestion and have moved Sarah's to the last page! Thank you so much!
