Mate, calling it a Camry engine is an insult. The 3.5L V6 is the identical engine to the Lexus GS350 and they're still using the same engines to this date. I've got a 2006 Athlete with the 3.5L 2GR-FSE engine. (320HP) It's bloody fast. 0-100 is 5s flat in a full-sized luxury sedan!! That's quicker than a lot of other larger 6L+ V8 cars we have in New Zealand and Australia.
This car had the 3L. That's where he got the Camry reference.
@@nzmarco gotta say the 3L is pretty damn quick too. Smokes most standard SUV’s and sedans on the roads. And that’s stock. 260hp on the 3L athlete (what I drive)
@@nzmarco It's even more wrong if that's the case. The 3.0l from that era Camry is the anemic 1MZ-FE, which is nothing even close to the 3GR
What upgrades does the crown Athlete have over the standard crown?
afaik sport suspension, 18inch rim, sports seat, dark wood trim, and sports cosmetic including 4 circular ring tail lamp. also 3.5L variant had mono block 4pot caliper in front.not sure 3.0L tho.

Just registered my crown athlete in the netherlands. They drive really comfortable. And with the other engine decently powerfull with 315hp. In the back you can have options like a fridge and heated seats.

If it is the GRS184 Crown Athlete, the engine is a 2GRFSE with direct injection + port injection, which means - if it works as intended - no carbon build up.
Pretty sure it's a GRS182
It's got a 3Gr FSE
Helpful tip you don't have to put the key you can keep it in your pocket, I have an '04 Crown Majesta pretty similar

@@deathrager2404 from what I can tell you can't but depending on your model it seems as though you can at least lower the volume, I have only been able to cross reference the lexus GS430 manuals from the time to get a lot of my information

yeah! I've got a 2006 Athlete with the 3.5L 2GR-FSE engine myself. I've always thought it looks like a Mercedes S-Class from the sides due to the curves of the door, roof and rear windows.
@@velvetthundr its like a mixture of bmw and mercedes, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more reliable and lookin slicker than both.

Crowns are pretty reliable as they have some of the best engines built in the world, however, depending on where you live some parts may be hard to source

When it comes to grading which one is higher between a Toyota Crown and a Lexus GS/LS. Toyota themselves said neither is better than the other. Crown is for Japanese taste and Lexus is for Westerner taste. Personally, I'd go for a Majesta or the new 2020 3.5L G-Executive which is a cheaper LS500h with the identical engine and similar interior but the price of a GS450h.
The Crown and the GS are the same platform. The LS is a larger platform so the vehicle is larger.
I have 2005, 2007 and 2015 toyota crown is about to come home.
