I love this guy! I heard he was a respected trainer... totally looks like the awesome coach type. I bet his kids really work for his enthusiasm. We need more dads and coaches like this!!!!!! Encore - post more vids!
My son (Robby Garrison) trained with him while we lived in Texas. He is one of the best trainers around. We were very lucky that they took us in and trained him on his pony (Dreamer). Thank you John!!
John DeLeyer of Spring Texas area at North Fork Farms. John is the youngest son of Harry DeLeyer who was a famous that bought a horse headed to the glue factory for $80 and made it a famous jumper. There is a book called "The Eighty Dollar Champion" by Elizabeth Letts that tells the story of the famous father and horse.
This was absolutely wonderful to watch! Comical, sure, but mostly just made my heart happy to see a Dad living every stride out loud with his kid. This is what the other 99% of show Moms and Dads are doing in their heads when their kiddos are up, I'm sure. Love it!
This is just great! I love it and yes the music is a perfect fit! If only more parents showed just as much positive enthusiasm at their children's events!
I remember being stabled beside the DeLeyers at horse shows years ago. They were each and all a pleasure to be around. Song is PORCELAIN BLACK - THIS IS WHAT ROCK N ROLL LOOKS LIKE
At first I was thinking this was some neat new adult potty dance! This is so great though, I love seeing parents honestly excited about their child showing and not yelling out insults or 'encouragement' if something doesn't go picture perfectly.
I just happened upon this video , too funny. I worked with John back in the early 80's at Stony Hill Farm. He had a horse he called Dutch Star at that time. We had a lot of laughs and he was good to work with. Always cracked me up when he said "hosses" instead of horses. Nice to see he is enjoying his children and they they are keeping his dads legacy flowing.
This kid will love this when he's an adult. He'll know how invested his dad was in him. All parents should have that much enthusiasm for everything their kids do :)
Sure, Dad may look like a complete goober but his body language is saying "Get AFTER it, Son! I'm right here with you all the way!" I wish more children had such an obviously supportive & caring father behind their own competitive efforts. I love this vid...and the musical accompaniment is 'right on', too!
That is hysterical. Wish my Dad had shown as much interest in my riding activities. Love the way everyone around him is killing themselves laughing but trying so hard not to show it. Fantastically embarrassing video but great to see ; )
Go dad>>>>>Just so great, Way to ride that course>>>>>Thanks for sharing>>>The music fits it to a tee.... they should enter it in Homes funniest videos!!! Father shoud get a blue ribbon.... More Dads shown be doing so!!!

My coach does a toned down version of this. She's so committed that she jumps with me! Also, can anyone explain was "Children's Adult Jumpers" are? Seems like an oxymoron.

i would love to see my dad do this, lmfao
He seems despite a disability to be ever so not embarrassed to come and support his son.
