nice work and a challenging tree... Knowing what you can and can't get away with brushing the other plantings without any significant damage and making it work is a sign of expertise and nothing to apologize about! A lot of it has to do with how fragile the species is.. And nothing wrong with the rip, as long as YOUR CLIMBING LINE OR LANYARD IS NOT UNDERNEATH THE CUT. You mentioned earlier that putting a notch in with the intention that the hinge would possibly slow the piece down. A rip will generally do far more to that end than a hinge. And it was interesting to see the rip, and hopefully learn something from it. Definitely unexpected.. perhaps due to the very slight differential between the two cuts, species, or the architecture of the limb at the bend... It may seem relatively insignificant, but trying to glean as much insight out of every little unexpected occurrence can reap a wealth of knowledge in this industry and no better way than video to examine such events. Thanks for sharing .. Keep em coming!
for sure. I figure the time of year/ hydrology + weight of the limb contributed to that tear. few species get so bad they'll peel even around ur wing cuts. then there's the heavy wood that splits, if the splitting starts in the wood before the depth of the under cut it'll chase down the limb past it (if that makes sense) crazy stuff
Great work Lawrence!!! I'm always waiting for your next vid. Thanks for sharing your work with us. Keep rocking my tree brother!!! And always stay safe. 🤘🤘🤘
Great video title. Love watching Reg and no doubt why this came up for me. Constructive criticism is all. A link to the exact video you’re referencing would be really great. Thanks for the share.
same, he's a legend. vid was inspired directly from Reg, only meant to add to the points he was making, i asked his permission. his vid was called "How to Zipline a Spreading Tree"
I have that quite a bit here in the northern Midwest.. Have resorted to an extra score cut 2/3 the way around centered on the front side about 6-8" under the undercut to help stop the peeling.. Especially on more parallel to the ground bigger branches.. Any advise from years of experience would be appreciated..
This guy's great ! He should totally upload similar style videos weekly ! Seriously ,You're a charismatic person and a skilled tree man . So you come across very well on camera . Appreciate the content Lawrence … Tell Pfannerman he's my hero . Don't tell him he has a creepy fan , just a respectful stalker .
Lawrence!!! Great to "see" you again! Looks like you had some challenging site conditions to deal with. That setup you used seemed to work really well. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experience along with the video clips. I eat up everything I can like this that helps me learn to work safer and more efficiently. I've got so much more to learn, seems like the more I learn the more "new" stuff gets posted up and or discussed. 😜 Hope all is well with you out on the left coast(you're still in Cali right???). Thanks again and keep yourself safe my friend! 😎👊 Randy
Versatility will always be an advantage. Anytime I get a tree on a hill, speedline is on my mind. Trees don't get that tall here in Oklahoma but they look like that oak you're in. Spread out and all over everything. Nice bombs!
Nice vid man! I wish you would do more vids you always get pumped to climb! It’s an awesome career to be a climber I don’t want to do anything else! Take care man!
Yolanda Bertaud it’s a Stihl 201 I run a 16” bar on mine I’m just a contract climber here in North Ga got to meet Lawrence at the tree expo super cool guy.
Kenny Sanchez stay safe bro? Stay safe dude. Did I mention stay safe? You have to say stay safe. Stay safe. Stay safe. It means you really care. Stay safe. Stay safe.
nice like the way ya think" bit more pissin about but heaps better one every one, check out reg solo cedar i think, using winch to pull speed line up" i like it
Serious undercuts... I appreciate the commentary and insights. Was working in NYC a worthwhile venture? Obviously working on trees there would be a unique experience as they presumably of high demand. I love your videos, have for years..
@@peterbannister5083 ah yes, thank you. I forgot the old correct way. Cactus =1. Cacti = more than one. The misuse has gone on for so many years, that modern day internet sites say it's okay to use either in any situation; which, I don't think is correct. Thanks.

Tree parts expedited 💪🏼
That rip was pretty crazy, considering it looks like you were halfway through with the undercut.

Cut the ears ??
The reason I'm here watching this is Reg shouting out guys like August and yourself. And I'm glad he did. Your vids are good mate.
Great job Lawrence! I always enjoy the content & the explanations are always a welcome addition. STAY SAFE
Thanks for sharing!😁Yeah me and my crew try to use the zipline technique every chance we get! Fun times💪😁
Great example of what Reg talked about, thanks for putting this together!
Nice to see you putting out some videos again. Thanks

Nice work, great job! What's the make and model of that small chain hand saw? Thanks!
Yolanda Bertaud it’s a Stihl 201 I run a 16” bar on mine I’m just a contract climber here in North Ga got to meet Lawrence at the tree expo super cool guy.
U look and sound like Reg, coincidentally?! I think not, follow your path brother. We all have our inspirations
Great commentary! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your time with us fans any part of the country you have to be careful with tare off just saying nicely done
What was the average of those tops you were speedlining? Just wanted to get an idea of wood density from here to there. Great video!
New here. Stumbled onto this because I saw Reg Coates in the title. I wonder if he knows he's officially click-bait now. 😁 Are you on the Island too?
LMFAO! We should ask him, question is how to do it so he answers it in a video , hmmm....
I asked his permission first. I'm down in Cali tho I'd like to visit there some day
Very odd shaped tree for sure. I'm sure the ground crew was very happy with your system.
Thoroughly enjoyed that!
You are a genius
Wow you guys move fast
Clever title
Dude, it makes such a headache to, eh not so bad. The crew and you can work efficiently and effectively. Any idea to why the oak was leaning?
gravitropism I reckon
not a speedline on reg vid, but if its strong reckon can pull it up in use gravity as you said, thanx bro
Lawrence U r a humble bad ass🍀🤙🌲

What kind of spurs are you wearing?? I'm looking for a new set my steins are rubbing my shins to death...
They were the KK2's, was just testing them for a friend. currently using Aluminum Distel's 👍

I'm pretty sure that's a Cactus... not an Oak
Coates-tails
Use a cable instead of rope... things fly
Serious undercuts... I appreciate the commentary and insights.

That's not an oak tree Lawrence, that's a cacti. Take some ID classes or something.
