Well said August Well said! Reg is in a class that most great tree men can’t hold a rope for. It takes great mental fortitude and physical endurance to persevere through jobs like that.
Couldn’t agree more. Reg is the Ace Ventura in the tree world. Including dry british humor 😂 And a nice pile of the most expensive firewood in the world, well done!
I love watching your videos August they are insightful and contain quality tree work, but man when Reg releases a video you know it’s a job that makes you think. You are both a blessing to the tree community stay safe man.
Heck ya couldn’t agree more August has amazing editing skills and tree skills. That being said I see a Reg video come across my feed it’s like Christmas.
The decision of walking under the madrone or walking around was crazy timing and a testament to how you’ve survived decades of hazard tree work. Awesome video
Brilliant job Reg , proper professional work,I think it's important to mention how much patience you have as a lot of people wouldn't want to be in the harness and spikes for that long, and would have taken more risks and done bigger pieces to go quicker.older heads are smarter heads, fair play buddy 👌👍
Some of Reg's vids have me nervous as hell. I'm sure I'm more worried watching than Reg is working. and a good look at the prussic in action. In fact this vid had everything you want in a tree vid. top marks from me.
It's curious because I have the opposite sensations. I have the feeling, while watching this videos, that things are under control, calculated, pre-decided as much as they can be... which is, obviously, never 100%

I sure wish videos like this would've existed when I started climbing 30 years ago, it would have been a lot easier to learn rigging and dismantling skills. Reg that was an absolute masterpiece! Thank you for taking the time to set the camera up to give us such a variety of interesting vantage points. You're a master and I learn so much from your content that I take with me into my own work.
Hey Reg, I’ve been following your work and career since I started tree work. I’m originally from Bristol UK. I’m now living in Australia, and have been here for over 7 years. I’ve been running my own show here for 2 years now, supporting my young family. Things can be tough sometimes, the stresses of staff and looking after everyone. But I find real solace and inspiration in your videos, they always level me back out and make me proud of the hard work and passion I’ve put into what I do over all these years. Just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for the industry and for other climbers like me in similar situation. You’re a constant inspiration to keep going and being the best you can be. Hope everything is going well for you and your family out there. Thanks once again mate. J
@joedunwell7612 Thanks Joe. Good luck with your business. Just remember that if you are not seeing a decent profit and savings by now, then something is wrong and needs to be changed.
Well Reg, you do find some knotty problems to think through. And then make the solution seem an obvious one when it isn't at all. A very satisfying watch - thank you.
Reg, That… was Some job! A bit scary from here in some spots! The only thing I might have added was another 3000 winch to attach to that big tree in the back to tie on towards the front off the tree when you were bringing in down to the ground to pull it away from the shed. But as it turned out just barely touched the roof. Great JOB! I’m finally going to hang up my spurs at the age of 70 and a half😂. Now I just have to sell all this gear. The wife says that until I do I’ll keep doing it!😂….true story…..take care
I sometimes have in mind, while working, a phrase you once said in a video: "I'm not a chancer". The balance between time and risk. It's such a pleasure and a relief to see you working, to study the decisions you guys made, to wonder about other possible solutions (I always try to do that, just to jog my mind). Thanks for not making thrillers out of arboriculture videos and, if you feel like it, keep filming from time to time. Cheers!

I assume you mean the Cedar, Tom. In this case, if not for the Cedar being there the Arbutus would've fallen all the way and crushed the house, and then someone else would've got the job of cleaning it up. But as it was, the Cedar became part of the puzzle that also had to be carefully removed.

The way you sling off the logs with the prusic and micro pulley. The long tail on the rope. I’m assuming as a tag line? Genius. I’ve often used my tail as a tag line but with a mid line knot and steel carbine

Hey did i see the new mechanical descender/ascender device there? It looked good on this job! Can you tell a little bit more about it now it's in plain view?
@@Recoates Yeah it looked really good there. Very smooth on the descent and passing the rope easily on ascending. Is it also midline attachable and suitable for different rope diameters?
Awesome work, Reg. I wonder why people let situations like these to develop in the first place. I don't know how fast these trees grow, but they must have been there for quite some time. Why would they build the sheds in these places, or when the sheds came first, why did they let the trees grow so tall until it's almost too late? Well, at least, they called the right man to resolve it professionally.
