Thanks for the vid Matty and good luck with your treatment, hope it doesn't knock you around to much, there is a light at the end of the tunnel having been though this myself.
Vevor do supply a lot of acceptable quality products. The same vice in the UK sells for £84.99 which is around Aus $162. The vice looks good and the tests you've done show it to be parallel and square so not bad at all. Look after yourself mate, I've been in hospital twice recently for them to probe and poke. Nothing to do with the Pulmonary fibrosis, but hey it got me out of the house 😂. Hope your next chemo is gentle on you, regards to you and family 👍
Gday, I was really surprised how flat this vice was and next to no jaw lift, for the price I think there a good thing, the last chemo really hit hard, it took over 2 days to make this short video, normally it would be done in a couple of hours, take care mate, cheers
@@MattysWorkshop I kind of knew the chemo would hit hard, as my friend I used to take for his Chemo was affected worse each time. He spoke of not receiving his last 2 chemo appointments. I literally begged him not to as it was a lifeline, between his wife and I we were able to get him to continue. He was a good friend and also my assistant at work, so we had a lot in common. Take care of yourself Matty, regards to you and your family ❤️
Hi Matty you did go for the 5 inch good choice I got my 6 inch version from Machinery Warehouse and I bet it came from the same place it is exactly the same just an inch bigger I should have opted for that one. The six inch VERTEX vice is $429 so big difference any hope he enjoys it.
Gday, I brought the 4" vertex from Hare and Forbes and it wasn't cheap and the the quality wasn't any better then this 5' vice, thanks for watching, Cheers
I agree Matty for the work I do a good import vice works fine for me. I have Two import vices. One 5 " that I bought from Precision Mathews (Quality Machine) and one of the Vevor 4" vices without the coolant trough on it. I made my own Hold down clamps for it but with the flat parallel sides it can be used like a screwless grinding vice or as a Vice in a vice. or turned on its side on the mill table with strap clamps. Thanks for the review. The biggest issue people had with the old-fashioned Bridgeport vises is part lift when tightening the vise. And of course, the outside mounting of the Jaws. Kurt solved the problem with the half round ball you showed. I do think they should have put a key all the way across the fixed jaw and surface ground the machined surface that the jaw clamps to but other than issues like that they are Clones of Kurts except they did not Clone the price. Thanks as always for bringing us along.
Nice review. Not to much time on the unboxing :) Great that you pulled it apart and checked out the quality of the machining. Seems like a very reasonable price as well. I’d watch your reviews again 🤠
It seems that Vevor has really hit the sweet spot between price and quality. With very few exceptions almost every review of their products have little to no complaints, which is fantastic. My only issue with my 5 inch vise (not from Vevor) is that there are no accessories for them. For the 6 inch vises you can get all sorts different jaws. Keep them coming Matty.
I have a 4" Targa vice which like you mentioned has very little in the way of accessories available. BUT If I need a custom jaw or stop or something, Having a mill and a lathe I just make what I can't buy. 👍😁
Gday Mick, I think they have nailed this product for the price, I really couldn’t fault it at all, I’m looking at a 6” vice for the Cincinnati now, just have to sweet talk the boss lady, thanks for watching mate, cheers
Thanks for the review, I recently bought a 4" vice, Not vevor brand, but likely same place that made this one and it seems to be working well too. I apprecaite your in depth review of this one. I need to debur mine and stone the sharp corners. Cheers.
Gday, more then likely came from the same factory mate like many import tooling companies, the sharp edges weren’t really that bad and didn’t take much to remove, thanks for watching, cheers
Hi Matty, I have the 4" and 5" similar Vises, can't fault them. The cast in balls on mine protrude out, opposite to the Kurt and the one you reviewed, possibly done to not infringe copyright from Kurt. Works fine and absolutely no jaw lift. Just used the 5" to make a compound Sine Bar. Will not pay for UPS postage, way over the top .
Good to see you up and about, hopefully the next hit of chemo doesn’t knock you around to much. For the price of that vice the quality doesn’t look to bad.
I have the vevor 6" which they don't do in Australia any more, 2 x 5" vices & a 10" rotary table from them. Way more than adequate for home use and really good value. I hope your doing ok too.
Gday, Ive seen the rotary tables get good reviews and the indexing heads as well, I really cant fault this vice at all really, The last chemo has really knocked me around a lot this time, It was a battle to do this video mate, Thanks for watching, Cheers
Thanks for another great video Matty, I am about to start restoring a 50-year-old drill press, and I am looking for a vice to go with it. Stay well and strong Matty.
G'day Matty, nice review of that Vevor vice. Trev will be stoked with that! I watched John Mills aka doubleboost do a review on the same vice about a month ago and he came to the same conclusion about how good they are for the money. They are £85 here in the UK but out of stock, probably due to John's review lol. The same vice without the swivel base is £68. Hope you are soon feeling better after your treatment last week. I read your reply to the guy saying it knocked you back. Hopefully not too much longer to go on the grog they're putting into you and is there going to be radiotherapy as well or are they going to decide that after your chemo? Keep at it mate, cheers from the UK. Sam
Gday Matty, nice detailed review.. Import tools are improving but there's still a lot of dogs out there. It's good to know which ones make the cut... Best wishes on you improving health 👍🙏 ATB....Cheers....

Nice review Matty. These vices are great. I've had the small 3 inch Vevor Aculoc vice for over 2 years now. I made a speed handle for it, as I was not keen on the large one that came with it. I have the rotating base, but haven't used it yet. Hope you're feeling better now Matty, after the last Chemo. All the best to you and your family. Cheers Nobby
Gday Nobby, I was really surprised how flat the vice was and next to zero jaw lift was even better, the chemo really hit hard this time, not good mate, thanks for watching, cheers
Matty, I have had one of these for jut over a year and have found it reliable and with a couple of modifications it has made a good replacement for my old milling vise. Apart from taking off the razor sharp edges I added a brass split collar on the lead screw as I didn't like how the supplied one was just driven onto the threads and then, after machining the inside of the front through hole, I added thrust bearings to make the operation alot smoother and increasing the clamping pressure. I have not used the swivel base and mounted it straight onto the mill table but did find that the mounting bolts had to have a big overhang on the front so that I can fully use the cutting depth.
G'day Matty, I bought a 4" vise pretty much identical to yours. The only difference (apart from the size) is that mine is not a Vevor. Made locally in China, I have also removed the swivel base. I use it all the time on my mill, it's a really good budget vise for just over $100 posted. Keep your chin up mate, always look forward to your videos.

They were probably made in the same factory. I brought that vice 2 years ago and it was $329. I just had a look at the current prices and it is $385. You have it pretty good over there, I could buy almost 3 of these vices if I lived in Oz for the same price as one vice in NZ.
Gday John, things are definitely more expensive there in NZ, say compared to a vertex vice I think this is every bit as good and a fraction of the price, thanks for watching mate, cheers

I wish you had checked the jaw play from side to side. Maybe I'm the only one but there are a lot of vises out there that are just crap and many machinist waste their time fixing them because they can't afford a Kurt vise. Understandably so, but when you see a 5" vise for $69 to 100$ US, rest assured, it's going to be a shoddy made vise. This is an utter waste of metal, labor, and shipping cost to bring such vises into existence. They may as well send us the castings so we can take pleasure in machining the vise better and save ourselves the trouble of trying to fix what often cannot be fixed.
Thanks for the vid Matty and good luck with your treatment, hope it doesn't knock you around to much, there is a light at the end of the tunnel having been though this myself.

Great review and you would make a great salesman Matty! How goes the chemo treatments? Bear.
Gday Bear, I was surprised how good this vice was, the last chemo has really knocked me around, I didn’t know I could feel that crook and still have a heart beat, take care mate, cheers
👍
