Personally, I've truly enjoyed the "little" projects ... I think they truly reflect the home hobbyist and the odds and ends we fill our spare time with. No apologies needed! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
You have NEVER put out a crap video! You keep on doing what you are doing and we all appreciate the tremendous effort it takes to produce a video of the excellent quality of yours!
Matty you do not owe us an apology for giving your time for us all to enjoy. Myself I enjoy the little bits and I complement you for using what materials that are available. I remember when I was so poor I retrieved an old bed frame from the city dump to make a cart for my toolbox. Never apologize for saving your money.
G'day Matty I second this comment. None of your videos are ever shitty to my mind, they're what ever comes up for you to do mate. Some jobs are big, others not so. As you so often say and it's true, "It is what it is". One thing I'd really recommend that you do urgently is to take the repaid feed unit apart, and clean and grease it up, as it doesn't sound really happy. And check it over thouroghly because that other gear stripped for a reason. Also get that new cover off even if you have break and re-make it, and get that gear greased up pronto or it will get buggered very quickly. I'm looking forward to this new big build Matty. Cheers from the UK , Sam

Truly appreciate your kind words Terry, I’ve been in the same boat many times trying to find enough material to make something, appreciate you watching as always to mate
Gday Sam, I’m going to pull the power feed apart and see if I can work out why it’s a bit noisy one way, I did put grease on the main gear when the cover went on, appreciate you watching
Yep, I'll be here for them. Those are the jobs that we all have to do in our workspaces. They sometimes even give me ideas for fiddly jobs I may want to do.
That's the GENIUS of Matty's Workshop, figuring stuff out... It's the process: thoughts, and actions, obstacles and remedies. THAT'S HUMAN INGENUITY THAT CANNOT BE OVERLOOKED.
Hey Matty, Shed Time us a relief... Videos don't make themselves, it is a gift that you give to us. Do what's best for you and your better half, the rest will be sorted out "in the wash". Great to have you around brother
Gday Joel, it’s quite a bit of work making videos each week but it’s enjoyable especially the interaction with the viewers, to hear the videos are helping others is I’d say the best part, I’m only self taught so I’m always learning myself hence the screw ups that happen, thanks for watching mate
Matty, the content is what it is. We are glad we can follow you. Small jobs can also be very interesting. Not everything has to be a turbine blade from a jet engine! ;-) Relax; take good care of yourself; and we'll be here!
Looking good Matty, I don't mind watching you make all the fiddly bits and pieces needed to set up machines - there's always a few useful tips that can be used for other stuff
Matty. Thanks for the vid. Mate, please do yourself a favour and stop being so hard on yourself. We love those short vids too - everything you post is worth watching!!
Matty We enjoy just seeing you and knowing you're doing so much better. We look forward to your future builds and we are still praying for you and your family. Thanks for what you do.
Matty, one of your most endearing traits is that you talk about your family as if you are bringing another family member up to speed on what's happening. The metalwork is just great be it small or big. Looking forward to that new project. 👍
Can’t wait for the boring & facing head series, been looking forward to that since your last boring head build. Thanks so much for all that you do, Matty
No need to apologise Matty. I enjoy your videos, particularly when you include the small stuff ups that we all make from time to time. Please keep them coming while you can.
Matty mate, Don't ever apologise for the content you put out. I would happily watch an hour long video of you sharpening pencils for your exceptionally high quality finishes you get, Your trying different methods to get the best cut and of course your fantastic dry humour. Keep on keeping on as Harold would say.
Hey Matty. No apologies required. Nothing wrong with posting content and sharing it with us. Good to see the power feed up and working again. Big thanks to your viewer that helped you track down that part 👍. Cheers Aaron
All good Matty. These little tasks and fixes are all leading us somewhere and we're happy to follow along with you. Even that big boring head job is just going to be a series of smaller jobs that all come together in the end. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Mark, I’ve had not complaints yet really, I did quite some time ago on some older videos but I did say that they should show how it’s done and for some reason they never replied 🤷🏼♂️, thanks for watching
G’day Matty. Looking forward to the boring head build. The power feed works a treat with good slow feed I would agree it seems to go slower then the H & F variety, it should be good. The new sticker on the lathe looks a million dollars.
Gday Tom, I pretty nervous about the new project but getting excited at the same time, getting the smaller jobs done and out of the way just has to be done mate, appreciate your support mate
Happy days, everything works as it should 👍 Matty I think I can speak for at least 98% of your regulars, when I say you have nothing at all to apologise for. We are quite happy to watch you making stuff from stuff you had before. You sure as hell haven't offended anyone. Looking forward to your future projects, regards to you and family 👍 take care.
Thanks for showing my sticker Matty, it's much appreciated. I showed your sticker in my video last Sunday. I for one don't mind what you do in your videos, big or small, I'll watch every one. I try to use scrap materials when ever I can. Save the pennies Cheers Nobby
Gday Nobby, much appreciated you showing my sticker mate, I haven’t gotten to watch it yet sorry, sometimes using scrap material is a lot more interesting then using new, it makes you think a lot more I found, appreciate your support mate
Hello Matty, glad I could help out with the drive gear. I hope you found the bits of paperwork I squeezed between layers of that foam board packing material 🤔. Looking forward to seeing this boring and facing head project. It’s ambitious! 👍
@@MattysWorkshop I bet. I'm using you as my giny 🐷 to build one because I can't afford to buy one and not smart enough to design one from scratch haha. I am building up my arsenal of machines and recently picked up a 1957 Scharmann WB75 horizontal boring mill for a great deal. Although it has a facing head on it which I can't believe it's still there, along with the tail stock, having a smaller boring and facing unit will be easier for some operations I'm sure instead of using the 12 inch diameter head on the mill with a big bar hanging in front of it. Plus then I can use the quill feed as well as the table at the same time for better positioning, giving me more options and greater reach. Plus having one for my bridgeport style milling machine will allow me to make internal and external groves while not trying to figure out how to fixture odd size and shape ie.(not round) parts on my lathe. The boring mill has a morse taper 5 spindle so next project for me will be making a davis style morse taper lock similar to what Josh Topper and Brian Block on UA-cam have for their boring mills. When your all done your build I'll definitely be bugging you and your partner helping you design it for a copy of the drawings and build notes. 👌 as always keep it up and stay healthy friend.
You don't need to apologize to me Matty. With everything going on in your life. In just glad you are still at it . I have cone to really look forward to seeing you.. God bless you and yours
Gday Matty yeah wouldn't be too worried about the content of your videos mate it's just good to see someone do something and have it turn out how they plan it to it can be a nice change at times, those round limit switch stops are an awesome idea my mill came with these junky plastic L shaped ones that flex up even with the spring loaded plungers, I'll be doing something like that now so cheers for that idea
I like the control that you have on your power feed. Really slow for a nice finish and really fast to get the table back to where you want it. On my 'to do' list I have a project to add power feed to my Chinese mill. It has been on the list for a long time and every time I'm milling a long part I kick myself for not doing that project. I will get to it some day I'm sure.
Gday, I was lost when I started using this mill when the Cincinnati has power feed on all 3 axis’s with rapids, I wasn’t keen on winding the handle all the time, I’ll end up putting one in the knee too at some stage, thanks for watching mate
I've done my right wing in atm, I can just get the coffee cup up to the inlet..not allowed to do anything according to the surgeon...and even less than that according to the Boss of everything......so I'm reviewing yours and Kurtis's videos a bit...thanks for keeping my sanity in check😂😂
G'day Matty. I was surprised that the drive gear for the Power Feed is Nylon, & not Brass. Other than that, excellent video for all the things you accomplished & especially the X motor run very well. Looking forward to see you tackle your New Project.
Oh Mat you just keep doing what you are doing. I like the no frills . We want all the frilly bits we go to Max in Perth .. you must drop in when ur in Canberra
Gday Mark, I try and keep it nice and simple here, being self taught a lot of the times I learning as I go and hope it all works out in the end, I have to catch up for sure, cheers
No need to apologize for the content M8. We will take whatever you put out. Most of us identify with all the small jobs because that is what most of us do. To be perfectly honest some of these really long projects get a bit boring to my mind. I follow Quinn Dunki and Adam Booth and have done from day one of their channels. BUT the long series they are both on at the minute do not really grab me. I tend to watch a couple of episodes then not bother for a few. So I probably only watch about half or even less of the series. You can bet I will watch with interest whatever you put out, but on a long series I may duck a few episodes. Take care Stay well. ATB regards from the UK
Gday, the new project will be a series of videos but I’m going to try to put as much as possible in without going stupid, the videos might be longer then I normally do as well , cheers
Hi Matty. Both the power feeds I added to my mill operate the same as yours little noisy in one direction. Looking forward to your big build coming up. Thanks
Hey Matty , check the gear on the feed screw for shimming . Those power feeds seem to always be noisy , but that output gear may need the shims checking . Cheers 👍
Hi Matty. All your video's are good. Small jobs or big projects. I always look forward to watching. Great result on the X axis feed. I keep meaning to post a new sticker to you. That one has faded badly due to me making them myself. New ones are pro printed. Steve.
You could always build another Wobbler? Lol , Make it 2X scale? P.S. on that blue dust cover, maybe it's just stuck on from vacuum? Poke a small breather hole in it and see if it comes of easier?
Hey you can get leads that go from a US plug to an IEC plug from jaycar. I had to repair a power feed so I cut the IEC end off one, stripped it and wired it into the powerfeed. Probably too late now…
Hi Matty, looks like the same gear on my power feed, 113 teeth, don't have a compound indexing head to cut the helical gear. Got mine on ebay from Canada. Has warning on my cover NOT to use silicon grease on the gear, just normal grease, have to get your cover off to grease.. More than interested in the build of the boring/facing head, always wanted one but can't afford 8 grand for a Wauhopter
Good to see you got the power feed sorted Matty. You may want to replace the rubber boot for your rapid feed button, it looks like yours is gone? If coolant should happen to spill on there, it may not end well.
Gday, I need to get a new boot for the rapid button pretty soon, Im still not happy with how the power feed sounds in one direction so a little more investigation to do there mate
@@MattysWorkshop Maybe try playing around with the thin shim washers that set the engagement of the bevel gear mesh, up where the power feed couples to the X lead screw. That may help with that noise. Cheers mate!
A lot of us if not most do little jobs, especially in the UK where big workshops are rare. It’s these that I get the most useful ideas from. Enjoy the the big stuff but the small stuff is my league. My only criticism is you criticise yourself too much. All good stuff mate…
Gday, I’ve noticed that UK channels don’t have big workshops, it sounds like a lot of viewers enjoy the smaller jobs as well, the new project is pretty much a ton of small projects that lead into one big build, appreciate you watching mate
Matty, I can't afford a DRO, but I could wrangle 1/20th of a DRO, if I had a way to get it to ya. I'd be glad to help the channel. DRO should be able for us guys to help the channel, I'd rather help you then let my kids rob me. 20 of us guys could have it done in a week if you let us, mate.
Gday, thanks very much for your offer mate, truly appreciated, I’m hoping I’ll have enough saved in the next few weeks and I keen make a start on the new project, it should be a good series I hope, cheers
Curtis from cutting edge engineering sent me this way. If he recommends a channel I know it'll be good! I'm looking forward to checking out some videos!
The content was good. Most I build is in the same range or lower (to be honest). It is not importent what you build, but how, which tips and tricks are shown, where the pitfalls are and why you do it this way and not another.

Gday, sounds like your not aloud to leave the lounge chair mate, I’ve been there a few times now and it drove me nuts every time, take it easy
G'day cool video Matty
Thanks mate, cheers
No need to apologise matty you could make a video about cutting grass and it would still be interesting. Top job as always 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate your support
Any video is better than no video, I'm kind of going through the same process at the moment, but hey, sometimes it just has to be done. 👍
Thanks for watching mate
@@MattysWorkshopYou're most welcome. 👍
I enjoy watching your videos although I am not a machinist
Great to hear you enjoy the videos mate, much appreciated
glad to see you back at it :)
Back in full swing pretty much mate
Hi mate.
I think you’re right regarding Trev’s HM48B x-drive.
I can’t get mine to run as slow as yours either.
👍
Robert
Gday Robert, yer I found it to be quite clunky to at low rpm, seem to have zero torque as well, thanks for watching mate
Your crap is miles better than my crap Matty lol. I wish I had your patience. That feed works a treat, ultimately variable as well. Nice one......Tony
Gday Tony, I seen some really impressive job that you have done and wish i could do the same, truly appreciate your support mate
Hi Matty. Both the power feeds I added to my mill operate the same as yours little noisy in one direction. Looking forward to your big build coming up. Thanks
Gday, I thinking I’ll take it apart and check the inside out and give it a good clean soon, thanks for watching
Hey Matty , check the gear on the feed screw for shimming . Those power feeds seem to always be noisy , but that output gear may need the shims checking . Cheers 👍
Well done mate 👍
Thanks mate
Hi Matty. All your video's are good. Small jobs or big projects. I always look forward to watching. Great result on the X axis feed.
I keep meaning to post a new sticker to you. That one has faded badly due to me making them myself. New ones are pro printed.
Steve.
Gday Steve, I truly appreciate you watching and commenting mate, the sticker lasted quite a while before it faded, cheers
You could always build another Wobbler? Lol , Make it 2X scale?
P.S. on that blue dust cover, maybe it's just stuck on from vacuum? Poke a small breather hole in it and see if it comes of easier?
Gday, that would be a big wobbler, the cap has a small lip at the top that locks in to the main body, it’s certainly stuck on mate
@@MattysWorkshop Ah, I see. Take care Matty
Hey you can get leads that go from a US plug to an IEC plug from jaycar. I had to repair a power feed so I cut the IEC end off one, stripped it and wired it into the powerfeed. Probably too late now…
Gday, the nearest Jaycar is Canberra from here, I wish we had shops like this in town
Gday, thanks for letting me know about the grease, the new build will be interesting mate, thanks for watching
No apologies needed, all machining is good content!
Thanks very much mate
Maybe the noise is originating from some old dried up grease inside the power feed gearbox. Maybe worth having a peep inside?
Gday, I’m planning on pulling it apart to see what’s going on inside the main unit, you could be spot on there mate
@@MattysWorkshop I've never seen inside one of those, so if you get around to having a look inside, snap a photo or two :)
@@paulhammond7489 no worries
Hello Matty hope your doing good
I’m going alright thanks mate
Just to set the record straight You have never made a Crap video..
I SECOND THE MOTION😎
Thanks mate
Matty, I can't afford a DRO, but I could wrangle 1/20th of a DRO, if I had a way to get it to ya. I'd be glad to help the channel. DRO should be able for us guys to help the channel, I'd rather help you then let my kids rob me. 20 of us guys could have it done in a week if you let us, mate.
Very generous
Gday, thanks very much for your offer mate, truly appreciated, I’m hoping I’ll have enough saved in the next few weeks and I keen make a start on the new project, it should be a good series I hope, cheers
Curtis from cutting edge engineering sent me this way. If he recommends a channel I know it'll be good! I'm looking forward to checking out some videos!
Gday, thanks for checking the channel out, much appreciated mate, hope you enjoy the content
@MattysWorkshop I'm enjoying it so far lol wish I had more time to watch keep up the great videos bud!
The content was good. Most I build is in the same range or lower (to be honest).
It is not importent what you build, but how, which tips and tricks are shown, where the pitfalls are and why you do it this way and not another.
Gday, I try and share all I know and I’m often learning as I go too, there’s really no right or wrong as long as you get the same results, cheers
Mate if you decided to hacksaw a piece of fencing wire in half we’d still be watching
EXACTLY 😎😎😎🇺🇸
Thanks mate, much appreciated
