  • The Weasel 2 (or Wiesel 2) Light Recon Vehicle (LRV) can Roll-On/Off (RO-RO) from U.S. Army C/MH-47 Chinook and larger aircraft to include by parachute drops so a 6-man Cavalry Scout/other Team can X-Country Traverse the Battlefield under COMPLETE environmental and enemy fires protection that Open Wheeled Trucks cannot do. Can be sling-loaded by a UH-60L/M Blackhawk helicopter.
    THE JLTV CANNOT.
LRV Cancelled for Wheeled JLTV Truck that Can't Fly by C-130s Armed! Can't Carry a 6-Man Scout Team! JLTV Height Lies: CANNOT PARACHUTE DROP WITH WEAPONS STATION FROM C-130s

    Objective Reality Check:

Take that guy on the far right...say he is 6 feet 4...his head does not even reach the window much less the ROOF TOP...

    What Oshkosh Claims:
    www.military-today.com/trucks/...
    sales.jltv.tv/images/salesShee...
    1.9 meters = 6.23 feet = 74 inches LIARS!
This is just a few inches taller than me! This is only the HEIGHT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE JLTV DOOR HANDLE--put the weapon station on and see how high it is!
We need a PHOTOGRAPH OF A JLTV AND WEAPON STATION BY A No-SH*T HEIGHT SCALE.
ONLY 102" of HEIGHT is tolerable for rolling off the rear ramp of a C-130 during parachute airdrop......don't forget the JLTV has to sit atop honeycomb shock-absorbing stacks on top of a Type V airdrop platform...
    CONCLUSIONS:
    * JLTV with Weapon Stations CANNOT RO-RO from C-130s
    * JLTV with Weapons Stations CANNOT LVAD from C-130s
    * JLTVs CANNOT RO-RO from inside CH-47s or CH-53s--even the new CH-53K
    * JLTVs CANNOT TRANSPORT EITHER A 6-MAN SCOUT TEAM OR A 9-MAN INFANTRY SQUAD
    * JLTVs CANNOT go CROSS-COUNTRY AT WILL to avoid ROAD/TRAIL ambushes
    * JLTVS CANNOT tolerate ACTIVE PROTECTION SYSTEMS (APS) if payload is already maxed-out with just 4 men
    * JLTVs CANNOT fire large, powerful weapons systems much less be transported in a C-130 with them
    * JLTVs are TOO TALL to be effective scout vehicles
    * JLTVs are TOO TOP-HEAVY and will easily turn-over
    * JLTVs are TOO LIGHT to not be TOSSED IN THE AIR after suffering undermine blasts

"Scouts need a specialized vehicle with enough firepower to destroy enemy recon formations, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, director of Army Capabilities Integration Center and deputy commanding general of Futures at Training and Doctrine Command, told an audience at the 2015 Maneuver Conference at Benning.
The LRV would also allow scout units to provide security for light infantry on an approach march in ground mobility vehicles, McMaster said at the time."

Active Protection Systems (APS) can make Wiesels and other light tracked tanks like M113 Gavins ATGM and RPG protected. ONLY light tracked tanks can traverse through CLOSED TERRAIN or fly easily by available aircraft for 3D Maneuver. The TRADE-OFF is LIGHT TANKS or NO TANKS. No tank you. Light Tanks for the WIN.

U.S. Army Chief of Staff, General Milley Admits URBAN Megacities are CLOSED TERRAIN therefore we need LIGHT TANKS like Wiesel 2s and Super Gavins. His "memo" not received yet by his generals lusting for wheeled road/trail-bound crap JLTVs that can't even traverse through or over city rubble! www.foxnews.com/us/2017/03/21/chief-army-will-need-smaller-units-for-megacity-combat.html

electronicgrinsch: "The Wiesel is bulletproof up to 7.62 mm and gives
protection against shell splinters. Besides, most people here don't
understand the role of the Wiesel. It is used and was designed as a
    support vehicle..."

Not clever from the Army to cancel the project. It's not like they need huge amounts. A fleet of 300-400 of these will do the job. For Special Ops, Special Forces and Seal air drop sting operations against hostile groups and for freeing hostages vehicles like these are essential for dominance. Take 60 seals and 6 of these equipped with 20mm cannons and the Benghazi US Embassy ordeal would not have went down the way it did. They could have shut down the whole city with that little force.
