- In the Season 4 episode of MLP FIM, Rarity tries to impress Trenderhoof by being like Applejack. Though as we watch the episode, we realize that we shouldn't try to impress others by being someone we're not. We just have to be our true selves to make true friends.

Honestly, friends who care about who you really are, are real better friends than fake friends who only care about who they want you to be.
Applejack and Fluttershy episodes just designate the most to people in general (me including), speaking of Applejack, she reminds me of Tails til some extent by how she felt embarrassed and even inferior by asking or accepting that she needs help with how it is shown in Applebuck season. In which she overworked herself to the limit and only admitting that she couldn't do everything alone when she got to her breaking point of exhaustion.
That’s an interesting comparison. I can kinda see the resemblance between Applejack and Tails in that regard.

Yup, even though the message for this episode is similar to that of "Fake It, Til You Make It" it's still a good message! "You should never change who you are just to get someone to notice you."
Although i will admit that Rarity was right about Applejack look good in that dress, It suits her in a way like if she really was a fashion model!

I said something similar on your Fake It Til You Make It video, but it's worth saying again.
Changing for some because you're trying to be a better person for them is a good thing. The problem comes when changing yourself just to fit what you think the person wants.
Imagine if instead of Trend enjoying the farmgirl aesthetic, he talked about ... I dunno, he found it refreshing that AJ didn't feel a need to put on airs. She could be her authentic self without all the social decorum he has to deal with in high society.
That would've been a very different episode, if it were an episode at all, but it would fit right in with what you're saying. And yet, Rarity could've taken that lesson to heart and changed her ways to better fit that idea, and even if she didnt win over Trenderhoof it could've been a change for the better.
Once again, it's not about not changing yourself. It's about what you're changing and why. Thas where the difference comes from.
There is a time and place when we need to change sometimes about ourselves.
An example I can think of is if we’re trying to be better about how we spend our money. Some may be too frivolous or too conservative with how they spend money, and in order to break that pattern, we need to make conscious efforts to spend more wisely and joyfully instead of just go with the status quo. It could involve some “fake it til you make it”, and it eventually can become natural.
If it comes down to changing our personality to win other’s approval, there’s definitely a detriment to that.
It’s all a balancing act at the end of the day. Thanks for the feedback
Amazing commentary!! I'd love it if you did a video next about the season 5 episode "Tanks for the memories". I think it has one of the most mature morals in the series and a strong message about friendship during hard times when we have to let people go 💙
Oh yeah, I remember that episode. Where RD had a hard time parting ways with Tank because he had to hibernate.

Not sure if this would be in the same topic but sometimes, I’m always thinking if I should move on from Sonic or not since I have friends that have done so or that aren’t and i tend to try to be like them sometimes. It’s a confusing situation for me tbh

I Know is hard to be yourself at times heck when I first went to film school the first 2 weeks i was trying to fake how I was to impress my teacher but one day I said forgot it and I was myself and more and more people became my friends and...I even found my GF though that ❤😂 but this was another amazing video mate and I can't wait to see what new projects you have in store

As someone who’s started putting herself out there, I often put on this facade of being louder or funnier, because 1. I love laughs and 2. I am a mix of hyper and chill, mostly being quiet all the time, and thinking that I need to be louder to be liked. People I know have told me that I need to speak up, so I have tried. It’s easier when I don’t have to, and even better when I can focus on making quieter types of videos. It’s always better when I’m doing that because it reflects who I really am a lot more, so it’s likely I’ll keep doing that into the future ^^ Even better when I don’t have myself speaking in videos at all (like my slowed music videos) where I can completely focus on the video I’m making instead. I can relate to Rarity’s struggle and even Fluttershy’s, especially as a young person who’s starting to feel the need to fit in with older adults, and sometimes stresses about how I appear (like having too many pimples or messy, “scruffy” hair as an example) 💖💖

Like I've said before, I don't fit in with the brony fandom, so making friends that love MLP is difficult.
