    I think Bob already realizes this, but man does that screechy, loud solo guitar work utterly destroy this version of Westchester!!! Whoever played guitar back then on this take really sucked....except that his argument would be that the screechy, note bendy guitar licks were de rigeuer at the time....lol. More contemporary performances of Westchester have featured wonderful but more muted brass/horn arrangements for the fills/turn-arounds....and even in Fourplay, the guitarist has tuned it down to better fit or accentuate the composition. Westchester is one of Mr. James' most pleasing tunes....but this early rendition was just plain nasty and not in a good way.

      Sounds like Hiram Bullock and he wouldn't have been on the gig if Bob didn't want him there.

      If Bob didn’t like the track it wouldn’t be here. That guitar solo sounds pretty good to my ears in 2023. Vernon Reid sound but earlier.
