    I purchased my LWRC IC-SPR in April 2021 which uses the gas piston system. The fit, finish, workmanship, and quality of materials is excellent The recoil impulse of the piston is noticeably sharper than the Colt AR15 I used to own many years ago but it is still very pleasant to shoot. Outfitted with a Leupold 3-18 my best groups have been ,6/.7 in at 100 yards with match ammo. I prefer the relatively narrow handguard the rifle comes with so I have not added any pads or hand-stops. I mounted one of the picatinny rails it came with on the bottom for attaching a bi-pod. It's an expensive rifle but a very good value if you can afford it.

    I bought the A5 piston gun in the same color. High end rifle at a high price but no disappointments. As an added benefit it likes expensive ammo also! Went with a red dot-magnifier set up but a acog is probably in my future. Buy once, cry once right. Seriously if you are reading this and have not made a purchase yet stop looking. It’s really just this and the Danials Defence and the LWRC is way cooler. In this price range anyway.

    I got my M6IC DI in the Burnt Bronze. I got the same proprietary rail system and a lot of furniture with my rifle. The new ones have the option of MLok compatible rails, LWRCi branded grip and a shorter back end area on newer lowers. I run mine with a Ferro Concepts Slingster, Atibal Illumination A2 flashlight w/Surefire clicky and pressure pad tailcap running up to a 2 button pressure pad, Atibal Optics front polymer BUIS & Magpul Pro rear, Atibal Optics 1-10x30 FFP LPVO. I really need to get mine out and train, but that requires a trip to the mainland or trying to get hooked up with some friends with private land .
    Spiral flutes can help with cooling. I found out after purchase that they use a heavy profile barrel because they are in Maryland.

      @@ghengiskhan69 nope, im over the LPVO thing. The cheap ones are trash, and the nice ones are too heavy, large and expensive. Pass. For my 10.5-16" fighting rifles, its dot or prisim. I have the SPR, I replaced the stock because I found it was too wobbly. And I also replaced the grip because I didn’t like Magpuls rubber grip. Felt sticky here in Florida. So I went with another magpul grip, and the BCM gunfighter SMPD mod0 stock.

    Got mine off of gunbroker about 2 weeks ago. So far only 6 rounds through it to zero my Vortex red dot. I took off the forearm " grip thing", just didn't like it. Might change the trigger but you have to get the one they recommend or it will void the warranty.

    • @tonberryhugs6435

      Congrats, its an amazing rifle and it keeps going up in value. I was surprised how much I like the foregrip. I dont run vertical grips on carbines but with my flashlight it just feels natural. I didnt know that about the trigger replacement, seems dumb. Sort of like suppressing a SCAR voids the warranty.

    Spiral fluting also helps with heat dispersion so that there’s minimal metal expansion which keeps the barrel accurate

    Beautiful, and the ACOG and light are the cherries on top.
    Gonna add a piston to the armory.
    Then, deck 'em out like you did later.
    LWRC added their own pistol grip on mine, and it feels perfect.
    My only concern on the ACOG is the size of the reticle.
    Especially focusing/ranging on targets in shadows.
    How do you feel about this?
    You may have younger eyes, and that likely helps...but I'm scoping a 3.5x model with ACSS, and this is the thing I worry about.
    Really appreciate your feedback...

    • @tonberryhugs6435
      @tonberryhugs6435  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comments. I really like the Magpul rubber grip so I still might have ended up changing it out. The ACOG is super bright in daylight and still picks up plenty of light in shadows. Some people even put some tape over most of the fiber to limit light input. In complete darkness it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust but after that the chevron is easy to pick up again. The benefit being that although there is VERY limited eye relief, you get a LOT more field of vision with the ACOG that other magnified options. I recommend it. Keep in mind youll want to practice some 'both eyes open' shooting for closer targets.

    You make a good point about the need for a flashlight...I never thought of it that way, I've always just used the muzzle flash to light up my target at night, that way I get a real good picture of who I just shot. To each their own, I suppose.

    What do you think of the accuracy? I have a LWRC DI model and was getting only about 1.5 - 2” with Geco & Hornady .233 55gn At 100yards. I was expecting better from the premium cold hammer forged barrel.

      Can't recall to be honest but that sounds about right with what others have posted online. I was shooting 5.56 65gr though if I remember. Either way, for a self defense application that is plenty but each person is different.

    AR pattern rifles have gotten boring, every “new” feature is just like the last, idc if it’s piston driven or DI, they both present similar and different problems. I switched to bullpups out of boredom and I’ve actually had a lot better and faster target acquisition on my hog hunts, hiking in rough terrain has been less awkward too. AR’s are just my fun guns nowadays just to shoot fish in a barrel. This is a nice trinket just to show off with at the range, that’s about it for me. It’s nice though!

    This DI version is for folks on a budget. That’s known. Noveske and KAC put this gun to shame. I looked at these $1300 rifles and for me I would get into a Colt LE6940 before I would even consider LWRC. From your video cosmetically just doesn’t do it for me. Especially how bad the LWRC engraving is. It’s really bad but again this is for folks on a real budget and there is nothing wrong with that.

    • @tonberryhugs6435
      @tonberryhugs6435  2 роки тому +2

      DI has also been around much longer and works perfectly fine. You also start getting into diminishing returns on performance to cost ratio after $1200 or so, its just how you want to spend your money.
