Both powerhouses. Tina has such a lovely warm tone. I saw Jimmy on the teev last night, he said he would have done this one for nothing, he is a huge Tina fan.
One leads the other, in the performance and it gives a duo that exudes controlled strength and the happiness of singing together...RIP Anna Mae Bullock AKA Tina Turner... Thanks !
Jimmy was a Tina fan (I think he first went to see her in concert at age 13 or something) and he was apparently really nervous about singing with her. But as you can see, the result was fabulous. 😊 I also suspect Tina really liked doing that song with Jimmy. He's her male equivalent and there wouldn't have been many of those around. I tend to think this was her best duet with a male singer. Better than that one with Bryan Adams. I may be biased of course! 😂
Okay guys, we're going to pan across to the studio, when I get to you two guys (Tina and Jimmy) just be dancing and having a good time.’” “Has anybody ever seen me dance? It's not attractive to humans. She leans into me, and she just she could tell that I was just in panic, and she whispered, ‘Stand still honey, I'll make you look good.’”
What a priviledge for an Adelaide boy, he rose to the challenge didn't he? Remember, Chisel were only really known in Australia and New Zealand, whereas Tina was a world-wide sensation. P.s. Your mum had great taste :)
RIP Tina. Such a great song and performance, that guitarist is Diesel Jimmy’s brother in law. Next you got to check out Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Johnny Diesel “when something is wrong with my baby”
Tina was Magic! Nobody delivered the electricity and energy to the stage like she did, even Mick Jagger was paled by her. What a fantastic talent and a humble, warm and inviting human being. I got to spend around a half an hour alone with her once before a show. I could not believe how down to earth and sweet she was. You would have thought we had been girlfriends for years. She will be missed around the world. R.I.P. Tina and thanks for all the great music.
Rip to the Queen of Rock and Roll. I saw Tina perform in 1986 and she was incredible. She’s an absolute role model to survivors of abuse around the world. Rest easy Tina, your legacy is secure.

This is the best version of the song. They complement each other so well. Jimmy is the only one who can match Tina vocally. Two Australian songwriters convinced her to record their song "What's Love Got To Do With It" and the rest is history. Tina loved touring Australia and was adored here. RIP Tina.
The one and only "Queen of Rock" - Tina certainly deserved that title! I've heard her say that this is one of her favorite songs to perform, Rory. Tina was a powerhouse - so much talent...so much energy...so much fun to see her enjoying what only she can do. Loved your reaction. Thanks.
Yessss, i used to listen to Tina Turner when I'd be cleaning the house singing my heart out and then my kids would join in. "Whats Love Got To With It" i used to sing my lungs out because my ex-husband was a brutal man, i love Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome Tina singing and sax player oohh my goodness!! This is a beautiful powerful video! There both a force of nature!! GOOOO Tina and James!!! I really enjoyed that thank You Rory and the awesome person that requested this 😊💓🤘✌️RIP Tina Turner 😇💝🌹
As a survivor of abuse myself I have always held Tina in the highest regard. I used to wait tables and one day I was cleaning my section and wasn’t paying attention to anyone around me and I started singing What’s Love Got to Do With it (badly) and the people in the next section started laughing and tipped me 20 dollars for singing loudly and badly! Lol
@@kellifranklin9872 we are survivors thanked goodness! I'm happy your still with us, can't believe what I lived through, music saved me, an escape! That was awesome that you got a $20.00 tip!! I hope you have a happier life now. 😊💓🤘✌️
Tina was magic. What a fantastic idea to bring them together. Just watched interview with Jimmy Re Tina’s passing. He smiled and laughed with happy lovely and funny memories of working with her. Tina may be gone but her voice and videos will live on - we’ll never forget her 😊💞
Thanks Rory, Great reaction. Tina is old school, the live performances often have more energy than the albums. You should check out her live version of the Robert Palmer song ADDICTED TO LOVE. RIP Tina Turner, we will miss you.
Tina’s career started in ‘57 when Jimmy was one yr old but like a lot of artists who today credited Tina with their inspiration to sing, Jimmy was one of them. I think we first heard about Tina Turner in Australia in ‘71 when she made a hit with Proud Mary and then her stunning performance a few years later as The Acid Queen in the film Tommy by The Who - 1st time for me seeing something that was “fire” and on the big screen! It’s a good pick for today cos as you said, they’re having fun with the song and each other which is nice to see. I don’t think we’ve hit peak commemorations yet sadly. There’s still a few out there performing in their 70’s amazingly but you can’t go on forever.
Tinas manager was an Aussie...so she had access to our best guys.... Jimmys bro in law(Johnny Diesel) on guitar solo.....we really do have the best.... This has been my ringtone for yrs... Absolute magic 🎉❤🎉❤🎉 Beautiful chemistry 🎉❤🎉
Never heard of HIM, Rory . . . thanks. Tina Turner not to be denied, her contribution to music will never go away - is tremendous, may she rest in peace. 🙏 (Appreciating your commentary here! Thanks.)
RIP Tina. Been listening to her since the 70's. Then she teamed up with JIMMMAAAAY for this version. THEN...it became the song for the NRL here in Australia 👍🇭🇲 TOP song❤❤❤❤ and a legend lost😢 Didn't she team up with him for river deep...mountain high??
I'd never really listened to the words either, then Schitts Creek did it and the words easily make this one of the loveliest love songs ever and these two together just sound perfect. Their voices are so similar. RIP TINA
So you were pondering who sung first and I can say it was Miss Tina RIP. Jimmy is 67 years old currently and was born in 1956. Tina was born in 1939 so was 83. I had to google it but it says her first hit was in 1960 with A Fool In Love. By the way Jimmy was a teenager when he started, and his first band was called Fraternity even before Cold Chisel. He replaced Bon Scott in Fraternity, and Bon went on to be lead singer for AC/DC. Jimmy’s brother Swanee, was on drums and backing vocals of Fraternity. As far as Cold Chisel goes, Ian Moss, Don Walker and Steve Prestwich formed a band called Orange in around 1973, and Jimmy joined in around December 1973 and their final member Phil Small joined in 1975 ish. They became Cold Chisel in 1974. Earliest clips I can find of Chisel is in 1978. On another note, for female vocalists that sing like Jimmy, check out Knocking on Heaven’s Door, from the Andy Durant (from the band Stars) memorial concert, where Barnsey sings with Australia’s queen of soul, Renee Geyer (said Gay er) from 1980. Miss Renee also passed this year on 17 January. RIP to her as well. PS it also includes vocals by Broderick Smith who passed only on 30 April 2023 RIP to him as well. I’ll find a link if you wanna check it out. If you look through the comments I have the song lyrics up and who’s singing each verse….. ua-cam.com/video/lPXz4b4sRPM/v-deo.html
Like Queen, Tina was even better live. She did the best cover of The Beatles song Help in concert. Did you see her in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome? Even though she had little acting experience she played a convincing villain called Aunty Entity. The song from the movie was We Don't Need Another Hero which is excellent. She taught Mick Jagger the strut he does on stage. There is a very good documentary called Tina where she is interviewed. I'd never seen this duet before. Thanks for the reaction. Rest in peace, Tina.❤
"She did the best cover of The Beatles song Help in concert.". No. She Didn't. She sung John Farnham's rearrangement of the song. She sung it well, but not as well as him.
@@kane29842 While I think John Farnham has a great voice, I think Tina has an energy and charisma and raw talent to make any song her own. Everyone has their favourites and singing is always subjective. I would change my sentence to read "in my opinion".
Yeah he knows now what we’ve known for yonks. Queen are geniuses and so many of their great songs are simply overshadowed by the greatest hits. Jimmy always looks like he can’t believe how lucky he is to be singing with the legendary Tina Turner. Love it. Appreciate the song more now since Schitt’s Creek. It was played to death as the footy ad and I got really bored with it. Now it’s in my top five Tina tracks.
Never heard this duet before. It was the best. They both had such grit in their voice. Loved it.
Two legends at the peak of their powers - and then Johnny Diesel with the guitar solo!
Such an iconic performance for me. RIP Tina
Sound so great together, wish they had done more!
