One of the most convenient plot armors in anime history. I don't even comprehend how someone could lose with a Quirk like that. Well this shows that I am not missing much from not watching this series.
There are basically a few explicit restrictions (and if you aren't being pedantic a few implicit restrictions) 1. Only 2 rules at once 2. You can only apply the rule to the thing immediately touching you (air is a bit weird but she kinda dies before we get more clarification and what it constitutes as), so you can say air is poisonous, or stars and stripes fights all other uirks but you cannot say they kill you etc. 3. There is an upper limit (and it is pretty safe to presume "lower") limit to the properties you can imbue 4. Living creatures are MUCH harder to affect and the rule effects will weaken and you need to physically call the name the target themselves identifies as. Also implicit stuff like you cannot do extremities like "you die now" etc. For example she cannot strengthen herself to Allmight's level and she couldn't fully stop the decay affecting her. The reason she dies here is she basically didn't have the ability to force damage onto shigoraki and also protect herself at the same time. If she had others who could help her she could have probably won but...well all for one specifically went for her for a reason.

It sucks because it feels like an excuse to not bring other nation’s heroes for a united final stand. The heroes of the world mopping up the remaining villain army, Star and Stripes holding down AFO’s original body, while class 1A takes on Shigaraki/AFO. It could have been epic, but Star and Stripes was 20% too OP and Horikoshi was 10% too unmotivated to move on that idea. I honestly can’t blame him though. Most Mangaka get major burnout after going for so long. It feels like he peaked during the raid arc, and started half-assing arcs afterward.
The majority of the explosion is blocked by the earth surrounding the hole, some of the explosion enters the hole itself but it can only go so deep, the explosion isn't like water pouring inside a hole. So if you go deep enough itll eventually be too deep for the explosion to reach, but it's still going to cause immense heat thats easily able to burn off your skin.
Same way Star and all the pilots survived, plot. Every nuke in the US arsenal is vaporizing everything within a mile and killing everything with 10 and they sent a dozen.

Would the fight have ended differently if she stated "Shigaraki's body" instead ? Physically its still technically Shigaraki's body. And if so, she still should have destroyed the Shigariki part of the the All for One and Shigaraki combination which was still in shigaraki's body. Which would have left All for One's conscience without a vessel. They did her so dirty in this fight. That has to have been the thickest plot armor that I've ever seen in an anime. The end of this fight was the end of the series for me.

If AFO opposes other quirks like New Order, he would've lost control of it just like how he can't control New Order. Additonally, since AFO is the reason why he can steal and hold quirks in the first place, it's reasonable he'd lose control over all other quirks, too.

It did affect him tho, you can see him being badly damaged despite bottlenecking the explosion. Its just his hyper-regeneration quirk is very powerful

Dude, it literally show that her attack power isn't high enough to kill Shigaraki and her one touch kill move ain't work on him because she need to declare his true name to make it work, but bastard has identity crisis so she can put new order on him by using name "Shigaraki", "Tenko" or even "All For One"
Her power can do anything as long as her power can support it, the problem here is her power is limited and it not strong enough to just do everything as her quirk suggests.

1) yeah the quirk has limits on living things, including herself. she can’t make herself “a million times stronger than prime all might” because that goes beyond what new order’s strength limits are, she literally said it herself??
2) the quirk has limits on living things, which afaik, quirks aren’t, unless vestiges count. and even if that’s true, cathleen’s vestige/quirk was strong enough to severely damage shigaraki from the inside, *because* she can place rules on quirks themselves, meaning that even if quirks classify as living things, then the limitations on them are different from the limitations on a human.
