    All metal design and still have the capability to remove the battery is a big win for me. Sure, the design isn't all that flashy but I buy phones for functionality, not for looks like some of these phone gurus.

    For the nearly four years I own this phone, I had a 10800 milliamp hour extended battery, and never once have let me down. I just recently retired it couple weeks ago for a note 9 because the hardware of my v20 was starting to become very tired. it will now spend its retirement in my home theater AV setup as a remote with it's IR blaster, and ability to use Chromecast.
    I still miss the upper second screen, I still find myself reaching up there to swipe away a notification or grab a shortcut that I used to have only to remember that I no longer have it. My opinion is, the upper second screen was a great use of a notch.

    3 years later, the last good smartphone with a removable battery, IR blaster, and audiophile quality. Still a decent phone in 2020, although lags behind now in features. Wish LG would make the V70 like this but small bezels and it would fly off the shelves

      But I wish the design was as brash and bold as the V10 though.

      Yeah basically, but this has a bigger screen. That friends module was the worst gimmick I've seen from a phone manufacturer.

      +gladwin miguel At least they tried something new.

    • @yoassgoinhateme
      @yoassgoinhateme 8 років тому +3

      +09Mrsubaru trying something new.? Lenova/Motorola also tried something new with thier version of how modular design should be, and thier version is a much much better way of implementing modular design.
      And it's obvious that lg recognized the failure in the g5 modules, because they didn't incorporate a any kind of modules for the v20.!
      LG is still sticking with a removable battery design. I guess there's a small market there, but a removable battery is not that important I think. Look at all the phones out there that sell much much better then lg phones, almost all without removable battery. But better battery life and fast charging. And with non removable batteries comes other features like awesome fit and finish and WEATHER resistant..! I think that's more important then a removable battery.!

    • @XBlazinKush420X
      @XBlazinKush420X 8 років тому

      +gladwin miguel that "weather resistance" (do you mean water proof?) only applies to you currently. Having a removable battery means that you can replace the battery when it dies. and trust me, it WILL die and only a matter of time. not only that but lg is marketing this device to be durable which cannot be said to the note 7 scratches and battery.

    • @MySavageDynasty

      segun serrano most likely not. I'd keep the iPhone 6s, it's a more than capable device and iPhones have the best support. I'm an Android guy, the G6 isn't here, but I know it'll be a huge upgrade because LG messed up with the G5 so much.

    In my opinion LG should takes some notes from other smartphone manufacturers. Try to slim down your Android skin not make it less and less like stock.

    • @SunshineLanxy
      @SunshineLanxy 8 років тому +1

      new drop down is really close to stock. even the animations are the same. unlike previous versions

    • @ericmilroy1968
      @ericmilroy1968 8 років тому +1

      uh, bro..
      LG's UX overlay is the closest to stock out of all of the OEMs.. not counting BBM maybe. But still BBM doesn't sell enough units to be relevant in terms of that anyway. what LG modifies are apps like camera, message, phone, etc, adds features to menus, but sticks to material design and tries to keep icons and animations in line with vanilla/stock. they are good at it but alas could be better. tbh they should polish up the OS' UX overlay that they use and optimize it better but what they should really truly focus on for the G6 is the physical design of the phone. they need to get this next one right or it could spell doom for the LG Mobile division.
      I have confidence that LG can make this the one that turns it around for LG though!

    • @eagletalon9735
      @eagletalon9735 8 років тому

      +Eryk Iliewski You make good points but in my experience with LG devices I've definitely felt a more stock feel out of HTC Sense or even what's running on Motorola (Lenovo) phones. Hell Motorola's UX is basically stock Android with a couple software tweaks

    • @ericmilroy1968
      @ericmilroy1968 8 років тому

      Okay I have to agree with you on this, but you have to admit that Motorola is bound to be close to stock due to it have been a division of Google for several years. HTC sense only recently has opted for to go more stock. I remember one of the first android phones I got years ago was HTC sensation 4G and boy was that a heavy UX overlay xD

    • @eagletalon9735

    This phone is great for sure. I'm just bummed that they went for "A bigger G5" route design-wise. I loved that standout design of the v10, same as I loved that original sandstone back from oneplus. Companies always seem to start with something unique then slowly blend in.

    • @Molejules
      @Molejules 8 років тому +1

      Hear, hear. The look is sleek, if boring, but there is a composition mix: the metal is an aluminium alloy with silicon and magnesium while the corners have silicone-polycabonate (think of the V10's back). I still have to applaud LG for that.

    Here in 2020, I'm still using the refurbished V20 I got 2yrs ago on ebay as my only vlogging device for my channel! It has a horrible tendency to screen burn, even though I exchanged the "9/10 condition" V20 3x & each one had worse & worse burn-in. If it were up to me, if I had ANY budget to speak of, I'd be using a year-old OnePlus 7T, or even the new midrange TCL 10 Pro that just came out & is shockingly good for the price...

    Damn, I was really hoping for that 4000 mah battery. 3200 is adequate-ish at best. I couldn't care less about the swap-able part, I'm not going to charge and carry around an extra battery. I just want a phone with a decent battery that get through a day of actually using the phone like I and so many other do. Oh well. There's always the Nexus to probably let me down too!

    This is awesome for me as the V10 for some unknown reason was never on Sprint, but Sprint confirmed today that this phone will be! Looksto be a great upgrade from my S5! It even apparently has an IR blaster!

      I might be upgrading from the s5 to this also, especially since it has an ir blaster.... I'm just not really liking the back design that much

      I had the V10 on Verizon and LOVED it. However, we switched to AT&T about a month ago and I didn't want to go to a phone that was already a year old, so I went with the Note 7, which is a fantastic phone in it's own right (aside from the battery issues). However, I don't like it as much as the V10. I didn't realize how much I genuinely loved the HiFi DAC. It makes your music sound incredible. I quit using Bluetooth audio in my car and started using Auxiliary audio again because it sounds fantastic. When I hooked my Note 7 into my car I immediately thought about how terrible the audio was. This was before I realized that the Note 7 didn't have the HiFi DAC. Apparently, the only phones that currently have a HiFi DAC are the V10, the HTC 10, and soon the V20.
      If audio is your thing, you will probably love this phone. I just wish AT&T would give a date when they will carry it that way I can return my "may explode at any moment" Note 7 it and get the V20.

    I love the removable battery is the best feature it has. And they did the impossible by still having a metallic back. Wish the Note 7 had done this.

    It's a bit safe but I think it may be the one to take the place of my G3. The return to a traditional removable battery is a plus IMO and oh my the lovely Micro SD. It's specs are very nice.

    I got this in late 2018 for 150 dollars "mint condition". It came basically new in its original box, I think it was just returned to the store or was barely used by whoever had it. It's been fantastic and the phone I'm typing on right now. Video on my channel is taken with it. Unfortunately the battery is failing. 50% capacity approximately and in cold temps, it just malfunctions and the phone turns off until I get it out of the cold. Its funny, one reason I wanted it was because of the replaceable battery. Unfortunately the price of a new one I don't think is worth seeing its almost a 5 year old phone now, so when the time comes I guess I'll be buying a new phone. But I love the look. Didn't find it boring, thought it was really sleek.

    Nexus 6P owner here. It seems like the battery management in Nougat is legit; I've been getting like 3 more hours per days with this guy. It used to die on me by 5pm from 7 in the morning... now it's 8pm and the phone is at 10%

    Although I understand why everyone wants the 2nd screen at the bottom of the phone, I can also understand why LG made the decision to keep it on the top: it looks cleaner.

    Hey Mike, thanks for the proper video. Any possibility to make a comparison video with the one plus 3? Feels as they are both on the same playing field. Minus removable battery. Of course 99% of phones out there are built on a permanent battery foundation. Thanks again!

    I agree about having the second screen on the bottom. This would be awesome because you could have your navigation buttons on that second screen instead of taking up real estate on the main screen. Also that second screen could span the whole width of the phone instead of being cut short because of the front facing camera. If the second screen was on the bottom, it would be such a hit. Also, I would consider using a different type of screen for the second screen, maybe using what they use for e-ink on the Pebble watch. It would save on battery, and would provide the same functionality, especially in terms of always being on.

    Some of mobile manufacturers mast make competitor for galaxy note line with a stylus. If the V20 have one it may be a very good option for those that dosen't like the edge display and samsung.

    I was hoping the V20 would have an even more rugged design with waterproofing. Especially for this being a Audio and Optic focused phone. A sidekick like this should have all of those characteristics.

    Micheal, you're right.. Maybe they should've kept the secondary display on bottom. But, I personally think we'd be totally hitting it instead of navigation bar, which is also in the "bottom". Just an opinion, but even I think it'd be looking cool on the bottom.

    The inside looks good and I love how they are catering to people interested in A/V, making that their own little niche. However, I like the V10's design more. The V20 at a glance looks like a mid-range Lenovo...
    I do agree that the 2nd screen at the bottom could serve more functionality than the screen on the top. I have the V10 now so I'm looking forward to their upcoming versions to upgrade to. Hope the V30/V40 would be a further improvement (more battery life please)!
