Just appreciate how NATURAL this guy films his reviews, no mambo jumbo stupid video effects and dumb setting that bigger reviewers use. Hope it keeps the next ones like this. Thanks for a natural, fast and well structured review.
Nice. Just bought a new one for $230 unlocked and no contract. Love the removable battery feature! I hate it how removing the battery on other phones is a pain in the ass...
Calling that "2x optical zoom" is very misleading. The tick mark that you were talking about is the tick mark for the primary camera, which is a completely normal field of view/zoom for a phone. Anything less than that tick is using the wide angle camera, which is the actual feature that makes this camera setup fantastic.
lg is my favorite company for smartphone camera's. I had 4 already. I now have the lg g5 and the LG V10 love them. I am looking forward to the LG V20. thanks for sharing your experience with us.
LG: the only flagship smartphone company too keep removal batteries. 👌👍 Apple: Meh, let's remove the headphone jack and they will think we're innovative.
Yep and sales are in freefall. They have kept removable battery when 99% of consumers dont care anymore and of course the G5 is now selling at a lower price than the OP3 as sales are stagnant. Of course Apple led the way as they have to, as no OEM wants to take that first step. Of course they were proved right. They have got rid of the phone jack and its only a matter of how long before other OEMs will move to this better tech (Bluetooth or USB-C headphones). Of course the ones that listen to a few whiners that insist removable batteries are so important will suffer the consequences, I notice that Blackberry and Nokia kept them and they are both as good as closed down. Now i am not saying that its bad, as i think there is a place for some power users phones to have removable batteries, like the V20 and N7 (should have) but for the mass market it is dead.
5:28 Settings > Fingerprints & security > Fingerprints. That lets you add multiple fingerprints. 7:20 Tick mark in the Zoom - that's the point where the camera's switch. The "zoom" makes use of the wide angle camera then switches to the standard the closer you get it. There's a delay when you switch, which I didn't realize would be annoying until I saw Apple (of course) has their 7 Plus set up to do the same thing with no delay. Maybe this will encourage LG to update the camera app! (not gonna hold my breath). Source: LG G5 owner contemplating an upgrade.
Thank you for this video. It is well done and informative. It looks like the little battery is the main issue with this otherwise very nice phone. I was wondering how the outside housing is holding up with normal use (scratches? smudges?). How's the screen for smudges with no screen protector?
Quick point. Phone does NOT have an optical zoom. What you are experiencing is the change from 8MP wide angle camera to 16MP 75 degrees main camera. That is the tick in the zoom. G5 has the same interface.
the button in the top center of the camera interface is not a quick zoom to max optical zoom but to switch the cameras from the first sensor which is a wide angle cam to the second one which is hi res one.
Good thing they give out an H3. Here in Korea, they give a bundle collaborated with B&O, yes, it is not a bad earphone, but not good as the H3. Instead what LG did, they sell the V20 about a few hundred dollars cheaper in Korea.
I have had very good service from my LG G3 which I am still using. My only reservation is LG's software upgrade record. I (and from what I have read - users around the world) have never gotten an upgrade to Marshmallow, which is now two generations back.
my lg optimus g e 975....till now still my favorite....mother of all highend g series....well build phone made by lg...beautiful display ....truely ips
This phone is the best of both now and the past! I really hope it's successor keeps the ir blaster and removable battery.. And sells it in the UK! Great review :)
Would you mind giving a thorough walkthrough of the software so we can see what's new or different compared to older LG phones and maybe also compare and contrast what's changed from stock Android?
hey Tim someone on UA-cam have taken your video(this one) and posted it. under the UA-cam channel named Saif just letting you know. I reported the video but do what you gotta do. keep up the good work
Kinda made a mistake there, the 16mpx camera doesn't have 2x optical zoom. The button on top you pressed is to switch from wide angle to regular camera.
Are there really no LG Headphones/Headset in the smartphone-package ? that sucks, I know they are cheap and most people dont use em but even if they are cheap its good to have them.
I prefer my G5. I didn't like the removable back, felt cheap and plastic, especially on the G3. The all metal body felt more premium and expensive, with a really gorgeous display and screen on G5.
Is the power button/fingerprint reader capacitive or is it clickable? Does it need to be clicked to register the fingerprint? I just wonder how durable it is if it's clickable, as power buttons could fail in the long term on some older phones.
It's a very good phone for value that doesn't mean it is cheap at all . I think you should review Sony Xperia XZ too . I have a penchant for the latter brand
I'm disappointed that LG went away from having the volume keys on the back. That was one thing I liked. I still don't get why they got rid of the app draw. That makes no sense.
Hows the button does it wiggle like the v10 did.... also does the case work with fingerprint scanner... the v10 did not you had to grip the metal sides?
+exiledfrommyself I own a G5, the G5 has an 8 megapixel wide angle lens that has ~130 degree field of view. The main 16 megapixel lens has a normal 75 degree field of view. The iPhone 7+ has a second 12 megapixel 2x optical zoom lens.
Delici0usFlav0rs Switching between the 16 megapixel and 8 megapixel cameras leads to zoom as Tim showed in the video. I don't know anything about the iPhone setup.
Nice review, could you please let me know if this b&o earphone is better or akg earphones which comes with Samsung phone? Please let me know I mainly looking for bass. Thanks
Dear Tim...... Would you please make a video about why android doesnt add "open with..." option for all file extensions like we have on Windows.... It would be great
You mixed up the 2x zoom lens on the iPhone 7+ with the wide angle lens from LG on the G5 and V20. And I haven't heard anything about the camera having OIS, just two different types of EIS.
I OWN the G5, it has a wide angle camera and not 2x optical zoom. GSMarena is wrong, check any other website. The V20 has the same camera as the G5, except without OIS, as mentioned in the announcement event. The V20 has EIS and DIS, instead of OIS. Watch literally any other video and check literally any other website. GSM arena does not have their facts straight about either device.
If it had optical zoom or OIS there would be a big fanfare as these are great features. I have not seen one review suggesting the V20 have either so I would suspect it hasnt. LG led the way with their cameras but they have seemingly run out of ideas and others have caught up and now match or beat it. Saying that, it still is a great camera phone and probably my favourite Android phone released this year. Though it is sad that with all these Android OEMs none can ever produce the perfect phone, all the premium ones tend to fail on a handful of features that would have made them a true champion. Maybe 2017.
That charger alone is a big plus unlike the Moto Z and Moto Z force with theirs that doesn't have a detachable cable come on it's 2016 even my Note 3 had one .
Does the UK has the same sound with the B&O has the US version. and what the difference and if I get the UK one with B&O is it the same sound as the US version

Hey thanks, I appreciate that!
Tim Schofield (Qbking77) i agree. It feels relaxing ...comfortable
I wonder if it works overseas like in China?
Added bonus... It has an IR BLASTER!
thank god !
That's good to hear! 😃
Tim not being a hater but the lg v20 is kinda butt ugly remind me of those older Nokia phone . now I know it's all metal but . lg does metal sooo bad
really and truly it isnt ugly
Ramon Scott well beauty is in the eye of the beholder
LG V20 review is now live! ua-cam.com/video/xvnFc3gDKcQ/v-deo.html
Nice. Just bought a new one for $230 unlocked and no contract. Love the removable battery feature! I hate it how removing the battery on other phones is a pain in the ass...
Think these may be a very underrated device
yes!
I think so also.
last year it was but this year it was highly anticipated and received a lot of press coverage. I expect it to sell very well

Tim, out of all the tech reviewers you are one of the few who also has a great personality. You seem approachable. Genuinely nice guy. Thank you.
love this phone look. The only flagship phone with removable battery.
koat news

LG: the only flagship smartphone company too keep removal batteries. 👌👍

and??
Apple has removed something like LG with that removable bettery
That's why I love lg more than any other OEM...

What a good video man. Definitely a new subscriber.
Appreciate it!
+Tim Schofield (Qbking77) Me too . Damn where have I been all this time . Good review !

i choose v20 over iphone...make it available in europe plsss..
I know right
Does the V20 have the same camera sensor as the V10 just with improved software or it's a new improved camera sensor??
+francob911 g5 camera or better
Quick point. Phone does NOT have an optical zoom. What you are experiencing is the change from 8MP wide angle camera to 16MP 75 degrees main camera. That is the tick in the zoom. G5 has the same interface.
THANK YOU LG AND TIM. Will be buying!!
awesome, first real unboxing and preview of the v20, waiting 4 the full review.
the button in the top center of the camera interface is not a quick zoom to max optical zoom but to switch the cameras from the first sensor which is a wide angle cam to the second one which is hi res one.
You deserved more subscribers. And, i,m one of new guy here.
Keep up the good work!
This device seems like the only option that stays true to what every android user loves, specially all that audio thing seems amazing.
looks extremely fast and buttery smooth
Wooo, new place! Already?! That's amazing dude. Really looking forward to this phone. :)
Shot to shot speed on the camera was incredible. I hope it holds up once the phone has some mileage. Good review vid, thx.

Thanks for an informative review. Seriously looking at LG V20 for my next phone.
The packaging is so nice and pleasing 😌
I have had very good service from my LG G3 which I am still using. My only reservation is LG's software upgrade record. I (and from what I have read - users around the world) have never gotten an upgrade to Marshmallow, which is now two generations back.

Just the video I wanted, Thanks Tim!
Would you mind giving a thorough walkthrough of the software so we can see what's new or different compared to older LG phones and maybe also compare and contrast what's changed from stock Android?
This is the best phone I've seen, on the market
hey Tim someone on UA-cam have taken your video(this one) and posted it. under the UA-cam channel named Saif just letting you know. I reported the video but do what you gotta do. keep up the good work
AK V lol
You just gain a subscriber. Great video man
If you go into the settings in Home Screen, there's an option to include an app drawer.
The tick mark is where it switches from the normal camera to the wide angle camera.
try the fingerprint reader with a case on v10 had an issue with Case's
Do test the DACs on the phones. Pretty excited about it. Could be the best audio experience on a smartphone. Thanks.
no it couldn't you have htc 10 and axion7 in competition
Oh it's very possible when you have a quad dac.
Myhologram : ni
The new camera for LG V20 is for Zoom-out (wide angle lens) and not for Zoom-in(like Iphone 7). It is similar to LG G5 camera.
oh, my old G3 :-( i want V20 sooo muchhhh
I have the LG G4 but this phone OMG AWESOMEEEE????
i got the g4 and its still a beast but i will probably wait until lg drop their OLED displays and put some water proof then im in for sure
+Mohamed Omar Water resistant**
Golden Pixels what ever m8 :/
Mohamed Omar Don't like your own comments :/
Kinda made a mistake there, the 16mpx camera doesn't have 2x optical zoom. The button on top you pressed is to switch from wide angle to regular camera.
This is actually beautiful!!!!
Pumped up for the full review!
u got a new subscriber bro by the way love the video
FINALLY an LG phone that looks like it has a decent display panel!
Lg always had good panels
+Trollers gonna troll Well maybe except for the G5
LGs panels are already fantastic. What are you talking about
The LG corporation makes the display panels for iPhones, ya know...
Lg displays makes the world best LCD panels "Quantum display" so what are you talking about??
Great review Tim, and also very good-looking guy! :-)
thank you .
good video.
i just want to ask you about the camera ? before that i buy it ??? thank you again
Great review as always will the viewing angles be great In direct sunlight
Great video man. Subscription added!
if the battery life is good I'll consider it... I'm liking the functionality of the 2nd screen and the Note-like features.
Great video. Greetings from Argentina!
Are there really no LG Headphones/Headset in the smartphone-package ? that sucks, I know they are cheap and most people dont use em but even if they are cheap its good to have them.
Thanks for the unboxing video. This will definitely replace my V10
I prefer my G5. I didn't like the removable back, felt cheap and plastic, especially on the G3. The all metal body felt more premium and expensive, with a really gorgeous display and screen on G5.
i heard the g5 display is dim, eg compared to the galaxy s7, is this true?
I wouldn't call Aluminium premium.
neither is glass.
The V20 has a removable aluminum back cover though... And its not covered in that thick layer of paint that the G5 has.
Why did they ditch the dual front-facing cameras? It was a great feature!
thx for sharing! very impressive sound recording in ur video😀
thanks Tim please tell me which one would you prefer personally
lg v20, galaxy s7 edge or maybe other options?
I'm actually mixed up between these two
wonderful cant wait to get this type of quality n features in lg g6
How's battery life compared to the V10? Can you get a full day on it?
Sweet! So pretty much don't use the phone at all and you should be good!
lolollol so... it lasts if you don't do anything with it! ehehehe
battery life has been amazing for me
+James Bond Oh man I had a good laugh after reading your comment. Thanks man!!
I buy it a lg v20 a month ago and i liked is a underdog for the price its good to have one i not have issues with my v20
This actually looks pretty awesome
Man, this is a HUGE phone! Wow! I like it 😆
Two of my cousins have this (mother and son) they said in April it was great on Batttery life
Is the power button/fingerprint reader capacitive or is it clickable? Does it need to be clicked to register the fingerprint? I just wonder how durable it is if it's clickable, as power buttons could fail in the long term on some older phones.
I wish they made this in a smaller form factor...ditch the second screen too. G6 maybe?
looking forward for reviews, not many phones have the IR blaster anymore.
Miss my v20 a bet after upgrading to the s8+ :l
It's a very good phone for value that doesn't mean it is cheap at all . I think you should review Sony Xperia XZ too . I have a penchant for the latter brand
I'm disappointed that LG went away from having the volume keys on the back. That was one thing I liked. I still don't get why they got rid of the app draw. That makes no sense.
The cameras are 16MP and 8MP. Not quite two 16MP units, but still good.
Dude you were wrong around 755 when you were talking about the 2xZoom...that's the wide angle view from the G5.
Very much like the replaceable battery. Size wise looks similar to my Note 2. Shame it doesn't have the V10 rubber back.
Hows the button does it wiggle like the v10 did.... also does the case work with fingerprint scanner... the v10 did not you had to grip the metal sides?
I think you need to lower the device's brightness next time, so it will be more visible on video.
Wait, 2x optical zoom? Are you sure you're not getting it confused with the iPhone 7 Plus? It's only a wide angle cam from what I've heard.
You are correct.
It has 2x optical zoom and so does the G5.
I don't know anything about the iPhone setup.
exiledfrommyself That's not zoom, that's just switching between a standard angle lens and a wide angle one.
Did he just show headphones with a 3.5mm jack? My great grandad used to use that!
Hey Tim that's a nice video😉😊
Nice review, could you please let me know if this b&o earphone is better or akg earphones which comes with Samsung phone? Please let me know I mainly looking for bass. Thanks
great video, great place and super great phone. thanks!
I just want to know about RAM management and Battery Life and overall performance.
Does the V20 have the same V10 camera sensor with improved software or is it a totally new camera sensor??
Can you test how well the phones handles high quality headphones eg: AKG 7xx/Sennheiser HD 600, 650,800?
nice ..when it come with earphones.. my did not. Does the rear camera come with a clear cover you have to remove it? Tks.
can you do a comparision video between the cameras of LG V20 and the Note 7?
This one is not yet available with US carriers right? I don't see it in AT&T, t-mobile sites
thanks 4 posting ... how many more moves will we make with you?
im either getting this or LG G5 plus 360 camera ok which one should i buy
upgrading my g5 to the v20. I can't wait .
Dear Tim...... Would you please make a video about why android doesnt add "open with..." option for all file extensions like we have on Windows.... It would be great
Could you please find out how long the limited time B&O earphone addition would last for
You mixed up the 2x zoom lens on the iPhone 7+ with the wide angle lens from LG on the G5 and V20. And I haven't heard anything about the camera having OIS, just two different types of EIS.
You can check the specs over at GSMArena. It basically the same setup as the G5. Both the G5 and V20 have 2X optical zoom and OIS.
I OWN the G5, it has a wide angle camera and not 2x optical zoom. GSMarena is wrong, check any other website. The V20 has the same camera as the G5, except without OIS, as mentioned in the announcement event. The V20 has EIS and DIS, instead of OIS. do all of them come with the headphones or is it just for you? if they do I'm gonna buy it for surr! otherwise maybe I'll buy pixel xl
I wished LG came up with this nice design with the G5.
I already have mine so far I like it.
I'm glad you are fucking with this phone... your photon work was top notch.
That charger alone is a big plus unlike the Moto Z and Moto Z force with theirs that doesn't have a detachable cable come on it's 2016 even my Note 3 had one .
Good stuff... thanks Tim!
IR blaster?
Yes
No one ever highlights the fact that it has one!!
+Blue Berry it is a very useful feature
like what to be precise? :/
Pro Noob like a remote for any device ex. TV's even old and small TV companies basically a remote, turns off and on projectors too.
Do you get to keep review devices or do you return them after a certain amount of time?
And! Good review brother 😁
Tim,
Do you think this will be out in time to swap in a Note 7 before the recall ends?
Does the UK has the same sound with the B&O has the US version. and what the difference and if I get the UK one with B&O is it the same sound as the US version
