Technically people just code switch between Scots and English a lot. Using different amounts depending on situation. With friends/casual situations will be more scots, but we’re taught in school that formal situations (including school itself) require English.

“Dree-kit” said as it sounds (With that double “e”), means the weather isn’t nice. Overcast or typically both overcast and very rainy. Additionally, “Crab-it” it’s pronounced as spelled here :) Also “dafty” is a name you call someone, so the sentence would most likely sound like “he’s a dafty” rather than “he’s dafty”. That wouldn’t make sense.. funnily enough as I’m sure for a non-Scot, none of this probably does haha! Lastly.. Can’t deny.. Having a lovely jobby, you people would be very surprised ;) thanks for the screenshot at the start my man.

Watching Americans trying to pronounce Scottish words is comedy gold ahaha. Most Americans can't understand my Scottish accent.

For another video idea, you could have them name scottish cities/towns or do a true or false session on scottish history.

As a Scot, I always am shocked by how many words others don't know the meaning of. It's ingrained in our brain so it's common sense to us. Good try with what you were given. Hard to know what they mean, how they are pronounced or how they are used by just reading it.

Dreekit also means dreich which is ready for rain or it has been raining , it's pure dreekit .. or it's looking dreich (dreek) but pronounced the same as loch ch together at the back of the throat.. only Scots seem to be able to pronounce this properly.. loch Ness not lock
