    Very simple idea that gives a good result. Something you can sell as a side business. Thanks for showing the requirements and the skillset you'll need to develop to be successful at this.

      Hi, great to hear from you. Simple little projects make up alot of the projects we create here at our family workshop. They allow us to make use of the scrap wood and earn us money too.

    The laminating of the woods to show contrast is a nice touch. Wood pendants were always tricky to me, because I didn’t know how to seal the the best way. Now that I know the shellac I think I’ll have more confidence. Nice video gentlemen

      Just as long as the recipient doesn't have any allergy or intolerance to shellac. 😂😂
      You could try something like bees wax mixed with linseed oil as a more natural finish.
      Good fun to have a go at making and a great way to use up leftover scraps of wood. Thanks as always, all the best from us all. 👍👍

      Hi Wendi, Great to hear from you. Without seeing the jewellery it's difficult to advise how best to sort the issue. If it was a piece I made I would sand off any rough edges on the back to try and prevent it from happening.

      Hi Ayoub, great to hear from you. We work predominantly in hard wood, including Oak, Mahogany, Teak, Ash, fruit wood, Walnut, Maple etc. For carving I would suggest working in hard wood. The examples that we made here are in Oak and Mahogany. The finish we used on the is shellac sanding sealer followed by linseed oil and bees wax.

    Does it matter what wood you carve? I can't imagine you can carve all woods, can you?

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  2 роки тому

      Hi, great to hear from you. Certain woods are definitely better to carve than others. We use seasoned hardwood for all of our handcarving. That includes Oak, Ash, Mahogany, Fruit wood, Teak, Iroko, Walnut, Elm, Sycamore and Beech to name a few. Hardwood has a closer grain so is usually better for handcarving but you always have exceptions to the rule.
      We always suggest trying a wood to see if it suits you. Thank you again for getting in touch. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍
