Mr. Robert Redford, A soul who has always cared for this planet. Sharing his Powerful voice for action. Too bad he was so badly upstaged by the man on his phone in the bg, focused only on his ego. Symbolic of the "...messes of ego consciousness...", Joseph Campbell so eloquently pointed out years ago in his book, "Hero of a Thousand Faces." The man buried in his own self importance, exemplifying the ignorance and missing the message. It's time to get conscious of all our actions, in every moment, or we all fail. Thank you Mr. Redford--A great man, Activist and Leader with your convictions as a great Actor for all life rights.

i notice the man in the background as well. I am sure everyone noticed. The message an important one didn't seem to be worthy of his time. Maybe they all should be instructed to turn odd their phones and listen to the person speaking.

There is recent evidence that shows our solar system in general is heating up,while I don't disclaim what Robert is saying there might be more things at work creating our changing environment than our thirst for fossil fuels.

Mr. Redford makes only one mistake here. He says that the future of our planet is at stake (paraphrased). The planet will be FINE. That is, after it shakes us off of itself, forever.

You got that remark from George Carlin and it is great humor, George rocks, but the humor does not do much for reality. The truth is that we are damaging the earth with what we are doing. But it is not the use or the burning of oil. Fracking is far more dangerous and will wreck our planet in far less time than if everyone was burning 10 gallons of oil daily. When the aquifers are polluted here in America the American people will have to find another place to live. The poisons sent down in the massive quantities will wreck one of the most important resources of our land.

I don't have a clue what George Carlin said about this but my comment was not an attempt to be funny in any way. My point is that humans are nothing more than a pimple on the butt of this planet. We will eventually die out and after a few billion years there will be no trace of our existence. We are racing towards that oblivion as fast as we can. And BTW, this suicidal genocide will apply to all humans, not just Americans.

Actually, Michael, your hyperbole falls on welcoming ears alone. In the last century, air quality has improved dramatically and so have many other life necessities. Food has improved and the availability of food. Knowledge has improved radically. Life on planet earth has improved radically and people now live to 90 years of age.
How many times have I heard your hyperbole??? This is stated in total disregard of history. One large erupting volcano does more damage to our atmosphere than all the cars trucks and locomotives together since Ford built the first car. The reason is that our earth is perfectly able to handle the damage we cause because it does not all happen in a short time. The volcano delivers all its offense in one day or so.
We are all for a better / cleaner world and so am I, but improvements and adjustments are being made every day of the year, at least here in America. But there are industries which are destroying our planet and it is not oil! And there are so many of those. Disposal of toxic waste is one, and Fracking is one of immediate concern whose delivery has a direct impact on living things.
Go to Europe, France, Greece Italy etc... and especially China and preach that sermon there. They are still in the industrial age and China is the greatest offender by far. But the Pacific ocean is able to dilute that offense and California has little repercussions from them. So, your sermons are all weak. Deal with real problems. Pointing the finger at a trivial issue and letting the birth of a pernicious engagement such as fracking, chemical storage in leaky containers destroy the aquifers, our principal source of fresh water is insane.

So, any reason why avocates of natural climate change are never invited to speak at the UN? Still not convinced it's a crisis, still not convinced it's our biggest enemy? We can impove the environment but I'm not buying in, too many have provided near term warnings that never came true. So there is some truth in there somewhere, and I wish the two factions would come to a consensus rather than bicker and scare people.
