the greatest team i love the core 4 and Joe Torre was icing on the cake. a great leader and manager he knew how to run the team to get them to be a championship team.
Someone needs to get on the Frontier League STAT. No fears- I straight up contacted Mickey Mantle camp. They don’t have a President and it’s REAL important for a Leader to actually LEAD right now and make VISITS to actual Frontier League Games. I own Fritos but do not eat Fritos- please eat my Fritos. Yeah no. God bless our boys. 🇺🇸⚾️♥️👏🏻👏🏻
What a great interview with the core 4 and the skip. The 98 team was relentless because of what they went through in 97. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Thank you for the memories.
The 1998 New York Yankees started their season with a 1-4 record. They finished the regular season going 114-48. In the playoffs, they were 11-2 winning the World Series. Moral of the story is keep going even if you have a rough start. It's not how you start, but how you finish. This applies to life and baseball.
i agree i used to look at it as is how you start is how you finish but i realize no it's not how you start it's how you finish the end result and the 98 Yankees did that.
....my friend and I (on a whim), bought tickets to a Marlins night game when the Yanks made a rare appearance here in Florida....prolly in the late 90s What a game!!! Triple play and Torre got ejected!!!
I had almost forgotten that the Fab Five were not only Great Baseball Players, but above it all they were and still are Stand Out Humans. With Torre as the Ideal Father Figure.
Torre still doesn't get the respect he deserves for the job he did with the Yankees. He had two hall of fame players in Jeter and Rivera. Clemens wasn't pitching anything close to HoF levels while a Yankee. Neither did Raines play at that level. Meanwhile, Bobby Cox is lauded was and is probably still considered to be better, but he had Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Chipper Jones, and McGriff. And Andruw Jones may wind up in the hall. And they won one WS, losing to the Yankees twice.
Well the Braves made the World Series 5 times in the 1990s. Especially the 1993 they lost in NLCS to Phillies would have been 6-8 World Series appearances if they had beat Padres and Marlins in 97-98 NLCS. Tim Raines was a role player who was already an all star from the 80s but his responsibility was help the lead off spot, hit and get on base to steal bases. He's a hall of famer after 10 years on the ballot, he had a tricky time getting in because he didn't have 3000 hits but he had enough of everything else to get in. Meanwhile Roger Clemens was good but Clemens didn't come until 1999. Yankees rotation was stacked with Cone and Wells, Pettitte. Roger was good for the early 2000s run. Especially the 2003 WS Yankees team. You can say about the Braves all day long but they had so many years to win multiple titles. They didn't even win back to back and 3 peat. The Braves had dominant pitching with solid Lineup that decade but they choked in big moments except 1995. Especially they threw away 1996 World Series vs Yankees up 2-0 in World Series. Then getting swept by Yankees again in 1999 and losing to them in World Series. Yankees dominated the late 90s and Braves did the early 90s but were consistent making playoffs the entire decade.
Where's Bernie Williams? He was only the Best Switch Hitter, Batting Champ, Post Season Home Run Champ, R.B.I. Machine and All-Star defensive Center Fielder.
Love when I see The Core Four together!!! 💙💙💙💙 And, I totally feel Derek(excuse me, The Captain!!)! My 25th high school reunion is next month and have no clue how that happened!! 😬😬😬
Jeter: Nope! And that's the main reason he's there. He stated before he hasn't swung a bat since retiring.. Think about that! So, if it was a traditional old timer's day with game, he wouldn't be there at all. Bit of a D. Ain't he?
Aaron Boone is the worst manager of all times. He played Stanton with a wet grass plus he can’t run. He won’t give the riot act to his new outfielders no hustling today on the field. He left Loaziaga in there when it is obvious that he can’t handle Milwaukee. Milwaukee did not beat us, Boone beat us. Enough is enough!
Bernie Williams should be part of the Core Five. Let’s not forget his contributions.
Hi 🎱
Yes, it was a Fab Five, NOT core four.
Bernie had shoulder surgery&couldn't attend
Where was Bernie?
I don't remember the whole Core Four stuff until 2009. Bernie came up in 1990 while the other four debuted in 1995.
the greatest team i love the core 4 and Joe Torre was icing on the cake. a great leader and manager he knew how to run the team to get them to be a championship team.
Those guys understood how important contact hitting was. And it definitely helped having that mean rotation and pen
I wished one of these legends managed the current Yankees.

Mickey mouse would be an improvement
i would love to see jeter or mo i think either of these guys would implore that leadership we need currently need to win

@@johnpestano22 Amen!
Bernie Williams should be sitting up there with these guys.
It's nice to see all the guys
Torre so smooth with the media, like they just came off the field after winning the World Series.
Man I miss that run they had in the 90s and 2009.
You guy Boone 😅😊😂
Last comment Derek made, you play to WIN.
And we still lost that’s embarrassing to these guys
@@jayrudadamaga4709 embarrassing and pathetic
THIS Yankee team was the best back then. These guys, nobody can beat them. THIS group was unstoppable.
Bernie should be at that table
I love Joe Torre oxoxox
This is so vintage Yankees right here
Without 51 there….it feels empty….
where is bernie he was great also
I believe he was recovering from a surgery
@@romeotruheelheat In the 30 minute interview why was it his name mentioned at least
It felt like old timers day wish they played instead of a Q&A
No, the field was too wet to play on and risk an injury.
This is my childhood right there.
Very appropriate for Jorge to be the only one not wearing a cap
....my friend and I (on a whim), bought tickets to a Marlins night game when the Yanks made a rare appearance here in Florida....prolly in the late 90s What a game!!! Triple play and Torre got ejected!!!
Wow, I totally forgot about that!!!
All these Yankee fans asking where’s Bernie? Did you watch the ceremony or not?
I had almost forgotten that the Fab Five were not only Great Baseball Players, but above it all they were and still are Stand Out Humans. With Torre as the Ideal Father Figure.
Why do theyleave Bernie out .He was a very important part of those championship years.

Bernie was best player on 98 team he should part everything
Where's Bernie Williams? He was only the Best Switch Hitter, Batting Champ, Post Season Home Run Champ, R.B.I. Machine and All-Star defensive Center Fielder.
He couldn't make it. He made a video to show the fans before Old Timers Day. Heard he had should we surgery and that was why he didn't come.
Totally agree he belongs there
to bad the new yankees aint great and professionals like these guys.
The greatest baseball team ever.
This should be a commercial 😂. Classic right here
I HATE THE FACT THEY ALWAYS LEAVE BERNIE WILLIAMS OUT.
He had shoulder surgery.
Jesus Christ did you watch the ceremony? He wasn’t there!
No Bernie?
I grew up watchin the 98 yankees..best team ever.
Love when I see The Core Four together!!! 💙💙💙💙 And, I totally feel Derek(excuse me, The Captain!!)! My 25th high school reunion is next month and have no clue how that happened!! 😬😬😬
LOVED THIS 98 TEAM!!!!!! NOBODY WAS BEATING THE 98 NEW YORK YANKEES!!!!!!!💯💯💯✊️✊️✊️🙏⭐️⭐️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
No idea why Paul O’Neill wasn’t part of this group I have no idea ! Should have been the core 5 lol
This team wanted to win
Hey, Craig Counsell was there to greet all the 2001 Yankees! How about that! Good times!
Jeter HAS to be GM
Everyone knows it.
Bernie was here first ( Not hating on the Core Four)
Jeter: Nope! And that's the main reason he's there. He stated before he hasn't swung a bat since retiring.. Think about that! So, if it was a traditional old timer's day with game, he wouldn't be there at all. Bit of a D. Ain't he?
Cashman drafted them ALL and hired all the coaches thst made this team a dynasty.
Gene Michael made that 98 team. the team 2023.. bad trades and signing.. fire his @$$
Stick Michael
Hi 🎱
Now even old timers day is ruined. Awful.
Why. Didn't. They. PLAY....??
What a joke.
