Joe was the absolutely perfect fit to be the manager of the Yankees in the George Steinbrenner era. How can you not respect that man. What you see is what you get.
Joe Torre equals 100% class. The greatest manager of my lifetime. And manager of the greatest team in my lifetime the 1998 New York Yankees who won including playoffs 125 games and lost only 50. Probably will never happen again.
Life long Red Sox fan here - during the game hated them all including Torre...but in all honesty, Torre and the Core Four are some guys I admire more than most others in MLB history.
53:29--"As I say, anyone who tells you that you're on the back 9 or starting to get to the end at 55-years old, don't believe them, because that started to be the beginning of the best part of my professional life."--What an inspiring comment! I'm 50-yrs and would like to upgrade a few things in my own life. No wonder why he had so much managing success with those last two teams he helmed. Millionaire players could trust this dude!
As a Braves fan in the 90's, I always hated Torre because of who he managed. You never know what someone is going through. This interview was very eye opening and I am now happy for the guy. Buck does a great job.
Yes..as a Dodger's fanatic..(at 66 no longer)...I also didn't like the Yankees...BUT during that era you mentioned I grew to respect Derek Jeter and Joe...BUT I really loved the diamondback victory over the Yankees in that WS...and the Red Sox win in that ALCS..✌️😁
Truly as a native New Yorker myself, I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Joe Torre's life story. We simply do not realize all the things that someone has gone through in life. Without question, God's good hand has been upon you Joe. God bless you the rest of your days on God's green earth.
As an Oakland A’s fan I admired Joe Torre. His sharing about his childhood, helped a lot of abused mothers and children sense they are not alone. One helluva manager.
I was born a Yankees fan - even though they weren’t particularly good for the early part of the 70’s when I started watching. Joe is by far my favorite manager. What a humble, authentic guy. You’d never know how many all-star games he made or that he won the freaking MVP - as a player! C’mon, how many people do that? He had an elegance and grace that I’ve never seen before or since - Bruce Bocce might be close. It also shows that no matter what you have achieved the ghosts of your past constantly haunt you and need to be overcome. Love this guy and love this show.
Wow, I am a die hard Mets fan and it was hard watching the Yankees win all of the time but how can you not like Joe Torre? We are all human beings with problems and no matter who you are we're not immune to it. Man what a great interview and a great man!
This was the most riveting interview I have ever seen. Joe doesn’t hold back on anything and tells it all. Some people would be embarrassed to say the things he said but he was down to earth in addition to being humble all the way through this. I know it must of been hard for him but he shows how much character he has which explains all the success he’s had. His players loved him very much and he had a knack of managing difference personalities perfectly. Don’t forget what he said towards the end about the 55 year old guy having things turn around for him and that goes for women too. I’m going to bookmark this video for the future because it speaks to us all, you don’t have to be a baseball player to understand Joes message and words. Just awesome! 🍾🏆
I was never a fan of the Yankees, but they had stars littered throughout their roster when Joe Torre managed those WS Championship teams in the 90’s. The notoriety and mystic of the NY Yankees is a shining beacon for MLB no matter how old you are.
I started in 92 as a Yankee fan. Scott Sanderson was the ace and Matt Nokes was the catcher. Donnie baseball was the only star with Roberto Kelly in Right. Bernie Williams was a rookie and Mike Gallego was at short with Pat Kelly at second. I was there when Jim Abbott threw the no hitter and it was amazing but seeing as a teenager what they did in the late 90’s will stay with me forever. Joe Torre always portrayed that dad who you knew no matter what as long as your safe it’s all good. He had a quiet confidence about him. God bless him and his family
People who neglect motivation as part of the process to achieve success don't succeed. Joe's story proves that it provides freedom from psychological scars that our parents were kind enough to impregnate in our minds as children. Great story. Thank you, Joe. !!!
I grew up with the Yankees 90s dynasty and in my bias opinion Joe Torre is the greatest Yankee Manger in their history. I know there were other greater skippers for this Organization but after watching this interview shows you why Torre is the best.
Joe Torre is likely the best manager to wear a team's uniform. I have great respect for this man, and his quiet easy manner in managing. I was always a big fan while he was in NY. His method is imho unmatched.
Not the first round of applause i gave this guy, but clapping at s video screen says a lot. And i’d do it again. i strongly recommend his audio book, btw.
No matter whether you hate the Yankees or you are a Yankee fan, then you know this is a very true statement, the Yankees had more class and respect when Joe Torre coached, he is the greatest coach the Yankees had ever had in the modern era. Class act

Seeing how the organization treated this man toward the end of his service might as well call it the curse of Joe Torre since they never really been a winning team ever since. Until Cashman is replaced I think the curse will continue to be active.
The homecm run by the Yankees in game 4 to tie the game changed the entire decade. The Braves were destined to be the Team of the 90s and it instead became the Yankees

Such a classy program . . . who’s the genius behind the inane “5 Questions” idea. Torre having to hypothetically pick between hot food or hot showers. Duh
Bad Teams don't win. What would you like? Bad teams to be celebrated? Easier to manage a bad team or a bunch of egotistical alpha males. Hint, it is easier to coach a bad team. No expectations. And I HATE the Yankees.
The great Michael Jordan once said, "People remember the winning team. No one remembers the other team!" Hopefully, it makes sense. That's the way it goes, bud!
I watch this show because Joe Buck has great guest but he inject and interprets too much. Great broadcaster, borderline interviewer. Ask the question and let your guest complete a sentence.
Terrible manager. Only succeeded because the Yankees were loaded. Had some good talent in LA too but could not manage. He has all the rings in spite of him.
Joe was the absolutely perfect fit to be the manager of the Yankees in the George Steinbrenner era. How can you not respect that man. What you see is what you get.
Joe Buck always does a good job in these interviews .
Joe Torre is one of the most incredible people in sports. Not for his remarkable achievements but for the man he is.
Joe Torre equals 100% class. The greatest manager of my lifetime. And manager of the greatest team in my lifetime the 1998 New York Yankees who won including playoffs 125 games and lost only 50. Probably will never happen again.

Joe Buck great interview with a most personal man Joe Torre.
Excellent interview. Would have been interesting if Joe Buck had asked Joe Torre what, if anything, Torre would like to see improved in today's game.
Man, this was good. JB is a hell of an interviewer.
Hearing Joe Buck, brings me back. Watching the Yanks in the JT era in the postseason
The Yankees are a team you love or you hate. It's really difficult to hate Joe Torre, even if you aren't a Yankees fan. Nice show!

Had the Yankees at the bar at hotel
I worked Torre always nice guy
Had the whole team there 95

When Mr. Torre was named manager of the Yankees, many of us thought it was a huge mistake. We were very, VERY wrong!
Excellent interview

Best managing job ever by Torre in my opinion. In 1982 win the Braves won the Division. :) Great guy, great job.
Being from NY and Joe Torre being a fellow Giants fan, lets go lol.

Yes Joe it is a good show, appreciate the no language brother
Joe has aged well, looks as if he could manage a big league team today ..

Great manager and ambassador for baseball!
I'm a dodger fan and I remember when he was the dodger manager. He was a very good manager and the dodgers did very well under him.

Joe was best as a Cardinal.
The homecm run by the Yankees in game 4 to tie the game changed the entire decade. The Braves were destined to be the Team of the 90s and it instead became the Yankees
These episodes are all about “who you know” every one makes the MLB like it’s nothing 😂
i think player-manager's shouldn't count towards the roster count. that is they should be a bonus player.
He wasxa better coach than Bobby cox - my Braves!

He probably got the idea from that genius Michael Kay. A really stupid idea.

so Joe torre's hated the yankee's? I always got the feeling Joe Buck hated them also every time he does one of their games.
I always laugh when a manger is considered great when managing a bunch of all stars and great players. What about the bad teams?
