    It costs 50 bucks to rebuild the engine. New crank, 2 bearings and 2 seals. Oh and a set of gaskets costs 8 bucks. So ..... i run mine every day more or less. 1984 apn 6. Quality mopeds. I also have a z750 but Tomos brings a different kind of smile to my face. Just love going thru gears and listening to that 2 stroke and carb sucking in air. Nothing like it. Great little run around town. Old timers love to see an old one running mint. Also great facebook Tomos comunities. You can get any part original . Someone always has it.

    1 thing i like about the tomos moped is its wheels are larger than scooter wheels, and it looks more like a motorcycle wheels. I'm more of a fan of the old cafe racer style frame than the sprint frame because I can see where you can modify it and do more customizing..50cc mopeds are great for kids to go to school on and are great for gas mileage

    I bought brand new in 97 a stunning baby blue sprint with white mag wheels, and put nearly 5000 miles on it with a Biturbo exhaust and eventually sold it for what i paid for it back in 97. I still miss that ped and it was built like a tank. Btw i had to adjust the points once,that was it. Ran Bellray oil in it. Never actually broke on me.

    I like tomos because they are easy to fix and dont consume to much time to do so. Also repair costs could be low.. And a tomos is easy to store they dont take much on space.
    The only cons are: They degrade to soon over time, like spots of rust, worn sprockets.. Grease all over the rear rim. Broken switches, worn cables.

    • @TomosAmerica
      @TomosAmerica  5 років тому +1

      Yes - we love them too, rallyscoot! And we find that's a big draw among tomos fans - that they are user friendly when it comes to repair.

      sad! I wonder what happened; they were quality machines. Had almost every year of gear-moped, i was the Tomos nerd in my area. Repairs, but mostly souping up, frame repair, engine overhaul. I got a workplace manual from the Dutch Tomos factory in Epe, bought a flywheel puller, toolkit, talked with other soup-up-nerds, and tested every idea that seemed logical. Owned a 4L, 5L, BT50S, NTX50, and an old 2-gear Puch-a-like. Also had Puchs, esp. a Jet50cc with about 8hp that I used to defeat Kreidlers, fast Honda's and Zündapps. I always made my steer high (chopper style).
