Excellent video, sir! My Lakland Skyline 44-60 is quite heavy, too, but it equates to the best tone that I've ever heard. It plays like nothing else I've ever had in my hands. I use a padded Comfort Strap, then play an hour and a half set with no problem. A Lakland bass through a DNA 1350 head and 410 cabinet are a magic combination.
I have that same bass, weight is about 10lbs 10oz, but it's so well balanced that the feeling when playing is just the same as any of my lighter Fenders that are a couple of lbs less. It's definitely not a boat anchor nor a feather weight; but it really is a very well balanced instrument. I play 3-4 hour gigs with a 4" padded leather strap and with no issues. The tone on this baby is to die for, and much oof it comes from that super resonant piece of ash plus the EMG Geezer's...
@@johnnyjones7796 This bass is completely passive, so no batteries on it, but those EMG's are really hot, and the output is hotter than my Fender Deluxe Active Jazz.
I have a couple Lakland Skyline Scheff 5's as well coming soon to a three minute review - also great basses, but Kent Armstrong lipstick pickups... The EMG Geezer's are sweet pickups for sure. Love the look, feel and sound of the Lakland Geezer model above...
I don't like the sound at all for slap.....but I ain't wanting this bass for slap anyhow. I'm gonna get a Music Man bass exclusively for slap. I'm wanting this bass for finger picking Luke Geezer does and to use with a pick, so no worries. I been wanting this bass for a while and plan to get coming up. Thanks for the video so I can hear what it sounds like using your fingers. I'm definately gonna get one....just not for slap, lol
I love the,"I always leave the tone all the way up." I mean, so do I like 99.9% of the time. So much time wasted on UA-cam bass demos with the tone down, to me at least.
Hi. Is the neck similar to the Precison bass or the Jazz Bass ? How powerfull is the EMG Geezer Pickups are they similar to the Seymour Duncan SPB 1 or the SPB 3 Pickups? Thanks
I have a chance to get one of these in the pink (not sure I will like the pink when i see it)...owner says its 9.3lbs - the thin nut may be my biggest hurdle. Thx for the videos - subb'd.
Basses are heavy. Relatively. But they should be. I'm sick of these featherweight basswood things out there. Neck dive outta control. Save up your money and get a real guitar like one of these Lakland.

Do you have the emg’s in 18 volt?

Nothing but love for Laklands. If the weight is too much put a set of those emg gzr pickups in a lighter bass.

Those are really nice basses 👍
I'd love to own one.

I sold this bass a long time ago and don’t really remember, sorry…
Nice back line

Ten pounds is too heavy for me, especially for a four-string.
One of the heaviest 4-strings I've ever played...
@@DaveOnBass You should try the Fender Steve Harris in 3 piece white...about 12.5lbs-it's a boat anchor!
