- My most popular video went viral after uploading this street dance to Pharrell's Happy, which he went on to use as inspiration for his stage show in the UK. In this video passers by joined the fun and it created such an uplifting video. Pharrell Williams saw this video and contacted me to appear with him on stage at the Brit Awards to dance to his song at his performance inspired by this video. Link below
My video was inspired by Pharrell's 24 hour video he made of this song. I created a version and it is the World's first 2.4 minute northern soul video inspired by Pharrell Williams "Happy". Northern Soul Friends, just keep watching til 0.52 - second track by Velvet Hammer, a Northern Soul Classic. Subsequently the song got loads of love again and one of the original band members, Clifford Frazer of Velvet Hammer contacted me and we spoke about the record and how delighted he was to hear it being popular again. You can hear an acapella version he sent me on my Facebook Videos, its amazing!! This video is filmed in one take at Broad Street, Staple Hill Bristol. Welcome to my channel. I make lots of music based videos, mainly dancing to really nice music. My music choices are based on having a first love of Soul and Funk music, although I love a lot of different types of music and rhythms. I enjoy sharing this love and making videos to re-imagine those tunes. I try to mix up classics with tunes not so well known, and putting creative and artistic visuals to the tunes can be fun and interesting, and the process of making videos is part of my journey which has led me to do lots of different things. I have released my own CD through Universal Music, and I have worked with many different companies and style brands where Music or Dance has been part of the campaign. I have worked for the BBC on Strictly as a choreographer, and danced with Pharrell at The Brits. I have had Music Radio Shows and I DJ as part of @streetsofsoul and sometime we put on events too!!

😘@@IfThisIsLev yes and I was wondering if and I know dancers can just be in their own zone : ) and perhaps for the video you were focus on that, though it would have taken the video into a much higher happier place. You know? So much that would have said...generations together, sharing the happiness by making eye contact etc. Is this type of dancing actually just done solo though sharing the same space? Asking truly cause I know here, usa Cambridge MA when we dance alone it's "unusual". I will say there was one club when I was an adult that on the Thursday nights when it got jammed packed, one girl caught my eye cause she would just get out there doing her thing an finally I realized what the heck am I waiting for...also I noticed women would hit the floor dancing together. Whatever, hope this doesn't cone across like I"m criticizing, I am not, just watching easy to have an "opinion", love ya!! ☮💖

People who don't like this or want to tell this young lady that she cannot call herself a Northern Soul Girl because she is not dancing to the right song or in the right place or at the right time are nothing but boring sad downers. Discover our northern soul period 1970 /80's we took all the music out of the bin from America that nobody wanted.we danced here in our little clubs 12pm until 6 in the morn.here in north west of UK we kept the dance rolling,thankyou to all the rejects artists from America they will prob never know where half of their music ended up.well its here in Wigan and Manchester.yeh.

I'm 60 about same age as the guy who joined in dancing. Great to see he's still got it, and great to see the young girl enjoying herself dancing on the street with a huge smile.

Hello. Not really sure where to start, to be honest - I used to be an actor (I was in a car accident which put paid to that), and in 2000 I was lucky enough to be in a play about Northern Soul, which toured around the country. I knew some of the tunes beforehand, and in order to learn the dance moves, me and the rest of the cast went to a few all nighters (Rotherham, Bridlington, Scarborough) while the play was still in rehearsal, and the thing that struck me, apart from the awesome music and the incredible moves, was the passion. The sheer, unbridled joy - a shared love and ownership of the music and all that it meant. And that, dear stranger, is what I just saw. Your absolute joy was so beautifully and perfectly communicated - it was so infectious in fact it got the passer-by dancing too.
I don't know who you are, and I know we'll never meet, but I want you to know that I love you to bits! Yes, there'll be detractors - I've read some of the comments below - but you've got a passion, and you're showing it and sharing it - first locally, then globally. Nice one. Don't ever change. xxx

Greetings from Bonnie Scotland - We up here also got "The Northern Soul Bug" back in the 70's, not in Scotland but in The North of England a 3 hour drive and we would be at Wigan Casino, I am 62 years of age now, but still Northern Soul Music has a big place in my Heart, if the kids of today stopped letting themselves being indoctrinated by the Crap Dance Music of today and make a resurgence of Northern Soul, they would never regret it. - Keep The Faith.
