- Great Inagua Island is home to the endemic Inagua Woodstar, a hummingbird which can only be found on this sparsely populated island in the Bahamas. Many Burrowing Owls also call this island home.
My picture of the male Inagua Woodstar feeding on the Noni flower is my only surviving picture of the hundreds that I took on this island. Photographers beware! Always have several backups of your photographs, as it is not impossible to have both your computer and external hard drive fail.

Awww, I adore burrowing owls. I grew up in Davie, Florida and we had them all over the college campus at Nova. I used to ride my bike to see them after school and to take pictures of them. They're such endearing little characters. Also so neat to know that even the Bahamas have their own special species of hummingbirds. They were beautiful as always.

Carole both the male and female are so beautiful. The plane ride was amazing. I am glad you didn't have to climb a 12,000 ft mountain, or take a crazy boat ride to find these beauties. William's footage of the ocean is amazing, such beautiful colors.
