I came to live in Toronto in April 1986 and OH how i miss Yonge Street when it was like this! The open arcades were up and down the street and it was an incredible time for a young man just starting out and coming from the country side.

It is ironic how we have to turn to the "internet" to view the past and then wish we could turn the clock back and return when there was no such thing as the "internet".

@@thefozzybear You're right. I went to Ryerson in the late '90s and I miss even the charm the downtown had even just back then. But for real, the Toronto of 25 years ago wasn't so so much different than the Toronto of 50 years ago. Now, it's completely different. Crazy expensive and packed with glass and concrete condos.

Great archive. Though @ 9:43 I read somewhere that when monkeys are confined in a small space for a long duration they have mental health issues and it's displayed by a rocking back and forth motion just like what this elephant is doing. Not sure if this is the same. But I presume the space need for a elephant would be enormous that no zoo can ever provide.
