Parkwood Estate was the home of the home of Col. Sam McLaughlin. He founded the McLaughlin Motor Company. The firm was bought out by General Motors and formed the basis for GM Canada.
Went this Saturday to Friday Harbor Resort, a BIG THANK YOU! for recommending this place, spent the whole day with the family there. Just wanted to give you a heads up, the public beach access is now being charged to enter- it's $20 adult and $10 for kids. 😌 Just wish, if they are charging, it should include a 30-60min use of the kayak, otherwise it becomes very expensive. $60 is alot of money for a small family of 4, but eases the mind if the kayak/canoes are included, helps the small family run business there as well.
Thanks for the kind comments and feedback! Wow $20! and that beach is tiny!! Agree on the kayak idea, but overall surprised at such high fee. Do you get a lounge char or something for that amount?
@Ontario Road Tripping No lounge chair/towel nothing, it's acces to the beach, yes the beach is tiny....hope more guests express it should be free access, it becomes a option eat there at the restaurants or pay for the beach, doing both is expensive. Beach does not rely on income reaturants do.
Love your suggestions that you recommend, I will surely check out i most of these very interesting places here in Ontario. Thank you very a very well done video, your descriptions are well thought out👍👏👍
Just found your videos -- fabulous!! If you haven't already covered it, as I've only seen just a few of your Ontario videos, there is a trip to Prince Edward County that would be terrific to cover, access from 401 at Trenton, or from Hwy 2, at Belleville and Deseronto; has its own airport: Mountain View Airport; there's so much to see: conservation areas; a lavender farm; the Oeno Gallery where artists have works on display, and the outdoor sculpture gardens; vineyards and wineries and brewing companies; craft shops; Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory; all sorts of B&B's; Sandbanks Dune Beach; Sandbanks Provincial Park; Pete's Stained Glass Studio; all sorts of quaint little towns with all sorts of shops, ie. Wellington, Picton (where the Crystal Palace is located); Bloomfield; there's The Waringhouse Inn and Restaurant and it also has an OnSite Cooking School; the Lake-on-the-Mountain; all sorts of interesting venues, way too many to list here -- great for a getaway to a B&B and shopping and/or siteseeing, or for a longer vacation.
Yesss!!!! I love PEC but haven't done video on it for sure a must thank for suggestion. My only issue with it is if you go in summer hotels are astronomically expensive and line ups for any worthy restaurants are hours. Sandbanks also very hard to get in. I guess that should be the theme, accessible PEC :))) have you been to Amhurst island next to it? It's very cute too
This was a great video. Lots of nice & pretty small destinations to go visit & spend part of the day. I am not watching anymore videos today, but I have seen a few more of yours highlighted that I am adding to my list of videos to see in the near future. (I have of course put a "like" on this one, because this should be shared with people who live in the region & drive & are looking for nice things to do on a weekend day.) I hope that you continue to enjoy the great things this province/country has to offer yourself.
Says on their website "gardens are open to public"/free, please don't spread missinfomation (tours of the inside the estate are paid and you must pre-book).
@@ontarioroadtripping I drove there for over forty years. I’ve spent two hours trying to get to the 401 on a long weekend. Getting across Eglinton is an achievement in itself. Then everyone piles onto the side streets and that is the beginning of the end. Once a truck wiped with hazardous materials at the 400/401 cross and all of the hwys were shut down in all directions. 6 hr delay. Mind numbing. But of course your numbers do work but you have to be on the road before 6:00 am.
The content is great. Unfortunately, it makes me dizzy to watch your videos. Need to move your camera much slower and hold your camera more steady. Looking forward to the improvement as I like your content. Thanks !
I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. I'm so sorry for Canada. Canadian and Canadian Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe or the United States. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian-Indonesian or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beach. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.
hehehe you moved to Canada? why? are you still in canada? why? btw, you mentioned videos, how about on this above video, did you see garbage on any of the cited places? did you see a gram of garbage at all? :)
Gairloch was a random discovery for me and oh so pretty. You should visit Paletta Lake front, 2268 Lakeshore, and Coronation ☺️
Just what I need for my family. Thanks sooooo much 😊
Glad to hear! enjoy your summer!

I agree! This Canada sucks in 2024!!!! I am appalled when I visited! The traffic! It's horrible?! I feel that its Punjab..except Punjab is cleaner!!!!

Parkwood is Not Free (maybe it was before)

It is free to walk in their gardens. It is not free to tour the house.
An hour and a half will get you to the 401
Not if you know the city and how traffic works 😁

I don't even see a reason to comment on this, completely disagree with every single word.
You win the award for the most biased comment of the year.
I've seen this guy comment the same thing, copy paste, on other videos. Troll
