We make butter at home using a cold mason jar and a cold marble. This looks a lot less exhausting. Maybe try rinsing your butter in cold water though to get out all the extra buttermilk. We squeeze the butter into a ball with our hands in a bowl of cold water and keep doing that with fresh water until the water stays clear.

We make butter every Thursday for bread day and we have been using the same butter churner.....this past Thursday we had our first accident, with the partially churned heavy cream falling on the carpet..... well, we turned the accident into a good lesson as we scrubbed and scrubbed that carpet to make it clean!!!!! My only complaint about that specific churner is that the lid doesn’t screw therefore if I move I need to always remember to take the jar with me..... nursery children can be very strong and zealous and then it all flies in the air! I love how you flavor it.i leave it plain because not everyone wants honey but I hadn’t even thought about adding cinnamon..... thank you!

Fun! I’ve made butter as a child and with my own children, by taking turns shaking the cream in a mason jar 🙂

I love sharing this activity in my parent child classes on bread day. It's a great, easy to use, easy to clean butter churn. Thanks, Sarah--I've never thought of shaping the butter into a block before, or of adding cinnamon. YUM!

We did this with a kilner we bought online from Amazon (it was $10 cheaper I think than Bella Luna-which is where we buy all our items so that was a disappointment) it’s so easy and it’s so fun! We made a video during pioneer week! So fun!

For a preschool class of 18 would you use the large butter churn? How long does it take in the large churn?

They used to add salt to the new butter. Don't know if it was healthy or not, but it tasted great on home made bread and gooseberry jam

I have never churn butter before and wanted to ask, will this work in warmer climates?

Is there a reason why you add cinnamon all the time? Or just taste preference? One can just leave the cinnamon out

At three years old, my little one was able to do half of the cranking and shaping of our butter loaf, and then make buttermilk biscuits with our fresh buttermilk slathered in homemade fresh butter. Yum. Love this. drive.google.com/file/d/11Fgz4v6MoydN_DR_w4V7d0cgavCYnlqc/view?usp=sharing

Raw milk and raw cream! It needs to be said, stop feeding children gross pasteurized milk and give them what their body needs ✨

Why is salt added? Does it need to be?
