Awesome tribute to Captain Christopher Pike - Commanding Officer, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and Commanding Officer, U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031. Anson Mount's performance as Captain Pike has been one of the highlights of Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery for me. He is the best example of what it means to be a Starfleet officer. I really do hope that we have not seen the last of this version of Captain Pike.
same. You know at the start of season two Pike finds a fortune that reads "Every CAGE is not a prison, every loss is not eternal" or so... so I'm hoping real hard that that's a hint.

The fact that Christopher Pike got a glimpse into his future, saw how it was going to go, and let it come to pass anyway speaks volumes to his character. Can you say that about any of the other captains? I can't.

The best of Starfleet indeed. Admiral Cornwell is right. He is the best of Starfleet with everything he is and everything he believes in. Here's hoping CBS has the good sense to give us that spin-off we want and deserve. Anyway, love your tributes to him.

Wonderful tribute to THE Starfleet Captain......he is the legend they all aspire to be. Excellent video with great scene choices. Makes you completely forget about all the other story lines.........except HIS. The writers did a great job of sketching the outline of Capt Christopher Pike but Anson Mount brought him to life......his deep love for his crew, his ship, his dedication to Starfleet and his humanity. He led by example and the Admiral was correct: he was/is the very best of starfleet.

I absolutely cannot wait for this new new show.
One of the very best Starfleet ever had in a Captains chair. But, I have no doubt at all Kirk, Archer, Picard, Sisko and Janeway would take a bullet for crew and ship, let alone everything living, without hesitation or regret. In "Into Darkness", Kirk actually DID-he saved his ship and stopped Vengeance and Khan. He died in the process, but did what he had to do. Picard, although it was written out of continuity, saved millions if not billions of lives in ST:TNG by ensuring that the Enterprise C, accidentally brought forwards in time, went back to ensure peace between the Klingons and Federation. It cost him everything, including his life-but, again, he did what he had to do for the greater good. All of the greats have done this, lets face it.

I love how he accepts his future with grace and dignity I wonder it will show his accident before Kirk takes over the ship at the end of Strange New Worlds
His accident takes place a few short weeks before menagerie part 1 which is TOS episode 11, season 1. He will relinquish command to Kirk shortly before the TOS episode “Where no man has gone before.” At that point is assigned to Starfleet Academy and shortly after, command of a J class Ship used to train Starfleet Cadets and Midshipmen.
Nice video. Wish the music didn't drown out some of the dialogue, but I really enjoyed seeing Pike's story. I like Pike!
Anson Mount did a better job then Jeffery Hunter for playing the role of Capt. Christopher Pike. And make the charactor more respectable then ever before. Roddenberry would of been proud.

No speaking lines and he played the best character on the show, no less. Well, only one line at the end "Goodbye, brother."

Permit me then to paraphrase from Captain Picard:
"Don't confuse style with intent." Pike's easygoing attitude and lack of ego are part and parcel of his kind of leadership - he invites discourse, because he recognizes that he doesn't always have the right answer, and creates an atmosphere where his officers and crew feel comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions. People don't walk over Pike. They walk beside him. But I never forgot while watching him that he was still the captain.
