    A little late in life perhaps, but I'm only just discovering the joys of basic Italian cuisine. My local supermarket has run out of Marinara sauce so I'm looking forward to giving this super-easy recipe a try, it looks absolutely wonderful. Thanks very much for the excellent video - subbed! _Edit: I have now cooked according to Justin's recipe and I can confirm that it is super-easy to prepare and really delicious. I'm in the UK so perhaps shouldn't have done this on the hottest day on record, but I enjoyed it so much I cooked another batch this morning_ 😀

      Hi Christine- yes you can definitely use fresh tomatoes but I wouldn’t use Roma’s since they don’t have a ton of juice. Perhaps a “better boy” tomato (round and juicy) or similar would be best!

    I had squid rings and marinara from a local restaurant yesterday. The sauce was way too sweet. I like my marinara to taste like tomatoes, not candy. I'm going to take your recipe, add sautéed mushrooms and hot Italian sausage, whip up a batch of sauce and linguine and rock out.

    1, when making marinara sauce for a
    fish dish. Add a slice of green pepper.
    2, basically most cooks agree 30 mins
    cooking of the sauce would be
    sufficient.🍝

    Can this be made with fresh tomatoes

    • @debbiealtman5373
      @debbiealtman5373 Місяць тому

      Yes, Blanche tomatoes in boiling water
      3 minutes with x cut on top of tomatoes till skins split. Drop in ice water or very Cold Tapwater if that’s all you have.
      Laura in the kitchen is Italian and has a lot of recipes on making marinara sauce and spaghetti sauce from scratch.
      After you Blanche a tomatoes only three minutes or so till skins split and you dropped in ice water then you peel the tomatoes as soon as they are cool enough to handle.
      Then you can blend them in a blender tail very smooth or leave some chunks
      Or blend in a food processor
      Or use an Immersion blender to break up the tomatoes, the way you want them. Do you want chunky? Or smooth?
      Then you seasoned to taste with Italian seasonings.
      Then you will have to simmer them, which is on low at a very low boil for approximately 1 to 2 hours to reduce some of the liquid from the tomatoes.
      The longer you simmer, the Sauce The better it will taste. Because the flavors will mingle together and the sauce where we do a little bit.
      If you look on the back of a jar of spaghetti sauce, you’ll see what’s in it..
      Tomatoes, seasoning, and probably a lot of other things we don’t want in our diet

    “Too much garlic! Garlic everywhere,”Garlic, you see, is not quite the staple of Italian cuisine Americans think it is.
    Depending on who you speak to, onions are a controversial ingredient too - and don’t even think of ever combining the two in a single dish.
    The idea of ingredient misuse provoking tears may appear a little drastic
    After all, Americans are messing with their grandma’s grandma’s grandma’s recipes.
    When you look at an Italian-American restaurant menu, a large portion of the dishes will most likely be in a red sauce;
    This Marinara sauce originates from Naples and comes from the Italian word Marinaro, meaning sailor.
    “There was a simple ONE of Garlic, oil, and tomatoes called marinara, supposedly because it was made quickly, as soon as the mariners’ wives spotted their husbands returning fishing boats in the distance.”
