A little late in life perhaps, but I'm only just discovering the joys of basic Italian cuisine. My local supermarket has run out of Marinara sauce so I'm looking forward to giving this super-easy recipe a try, it looks absolutely wonderful. Thanks very much for the excellent video - subbed! _Edit: I have now cooked according to Justin's recipe and I can confirm that it is super-easy to prepare and really delicious. I'm in the UK so perhaps shouldn't have done this on the hottest day on record, but I enjoyed it so much I cooked another batch this morning_ 😀
Colt, don't worry about dropping something on camera. Your recipe and your enthusiasm for it is all that is important! Great recipe and great presentation!
Hi Christine- yes you can definitely use fresh tomatoes but I wouldn’t use Roma’s since they don’t have a ton of juice. Perhaps a “better boy” tomato (round and juicy) or similar would be best!
1, when making marinara sauce for a fish dish. Add a slice of green pepper. 2, basically most cooks agree 30 mins cooking of the sauce would be sufficient.🍝
I had squid rings and marinara from a local restaurant yesterday. The sauce was way too sweet. I like my marinara to taste like tomatoes, not candy. I'm going to take your recipe, add sautéed mushrooms and hot Italian sausage, whip up a batch of sauce and linguine and rock out.
Yes, Blanche tomatoes in boiling water 3 minutes with x cut on top of tomatoes till skins split. Drop in ice water or very Cold Tapwater if that’s all you have. Laura in the kitchen is Italian and has a lot of recipes on making marinara sauce and spaghetti sauce from scratch. After you Blanche a tomatoes only three minutes or so till skins split and you dropped in ice water then you peel the tomatoes as soon as they are cool enough to handle. Then you can blend them in a blender tail very smooth or leave some chunks Or blend in a food processor Or use an Immersion blender to break up the tomatoes, the way you want them. Do you want chunky? Or smooth? Then you seasoned to taste with Italian seasonings. Then you will have to simmer them, which is on low at a very low boil for approximately 1 to 2 hours to reduce some of the liquid from the tomatoes. The longer you simmer, the Sauce The better it will taste. Because the flavors will mingle together and the sauce where we do a little bit. If you look on the back of a jar of spaghetti sauce, you’ll see what’s in it.. Tomatoes, seasoning, and probably a lot of other things we don’t want in our diet
“Too much garlic! Garlic everywhere,”Garlic, you see, is not quite the staple of Italian cuisine Americans think it is. Depending on who you speak to, onions are a controversial ingredient too - and don’t even think of ever combining the two in a single dish. The idea of ingredient misuse provoking tears may appear a little drastic After all, Americans are messing with their grandma’s grandma’s grandma’s recipes. Canned San Marzano tomatoes are better sometimes than fresh. Because they pick them just when they are ripe so they keep that sweetness in. Most of the one sold in the market are picked before it’s time.
Usually you want tonuse Italian tomatoes for the best authentic taste. Shipping in cans have best shipping results over glass or weak juice box quality packaging.
I’ve never made a homemade marinara. Can’t wait to try this out.

Great video! I make my marinara sauce very similarly. This sauce is a real life saver when you need to make something quick and delicious to eat.
Thanks so much! How about fresh tomatoes? We grow them here in Sacramento in the summer!! Lots of Romas this year for some strange reason…….

Italian meatballs spaghetti...MY personnal reason to make my own marinara sauce.
I can't wait to make this! I also like how you didn't edit out the spoon drop, very relatable 😅
Wow! Delicious and simple …. Thank you 😁
Can we use fresh tomatoes?
Yes you definitely can.
Yes but boil and peel them
I suggest using only cherry tomatoes.... Better tasting in my opinion.
@@cookingwithcoitsure. Boil for 60-80 seconds; peel slides off.
Roma would be better than cherry.
Demonstration to the point & informative!👍👍
Thanks so much for this video!! it turned out great
Thank you so much! I really needed this😊😊😊
Try it this weekend Delishous!! Can you double or triple the recipe?? Thank you !!
Absolutely!!
@@cookingwithcoit Thank you! Sharing recipe with friends and family!!
Delicious, but what if you can’t afford a blender, what are some substitutes to getting the smoothness of the sauce.
1, when making marinara sauce for a

2, basically most cooks agree 30 mins

Sounds great! Good tip, thanks!

May I use fresh tomotoes instead of canned tomatoes?
When you defrost your sauce, do you put in the fridge or counter?
Yummy thank u so much ❤❤❤
Looks tasty😋.. please don't call yourself an idiot😏🙏we make mistakes at times. Plus life and death is in the power of the tongue (proverbs 18:21)❤
Amen
Yes! I'm working on that myself currently
Doesnt keeping the lid on add or keep moisture in?
Thnx
Am I the only one who adds red wine in tomato sauce?
I haven’t but that sounds good!
you're missing a syllable....'us' was this deliberate? how could it not be? great looking sauce!
I was at my desk at work watching this. When you dropped your spoon I literally giggled . ❤❤❤❤
Can this be made with fresh tomatoes

I add some red wine to mine.
Iv’e only been “cooking” for a few year now, and if this isn’t the best recipe for homemade marinara, slap me and call me suzy. 👍😍

It's like Rao's, but costs $8 less to make.

I am your interdimensional Italian Grandmother, and no, that is not how I would make it.
Watch 2x to save time

Why not use normal tomatoes.....rather than canned
Don’t hate on San Mariano’s!
💯
Thank you! 🙌🏻
#1 Italians don't put onions in marinara sauce
#2 Italians don't use oregano either, that's for pizza sauce
Just coming from an actual Italian
Do you realize you made a cooked pizza sauce not marrina
What a fabulous cook you are and the dish is really looking so much tasty , I want you to post your Lovely recipes skills on this khal network......
Didn’t use fresh tomatoes!?
Why cover marinara? need to vent
That’s a good question. I have always done it this way so perhaps I should try uncovered next time.
If you use a GLASS mason jar and store it in te freezer for even just 48 hours it will burst what more up to 4 months 😅
No wine.
Canned tomatoe is homemade?
!!
Some of the recipes in your playlist seem like repeats. Like how many different avocado toast recipes can I look at????
If you did have an Italian grandmother, she would yell at you for using canned tomatoes.
And if you spoke to any chef, they would yell at you for NOT using canned tomatoes.
@@mikeymutual5489 Maybe at Olive Garden.

“Homemade” from a can

Just get tomatoes, x cut, blanch 3 min, then peel, mash. You are at the spot where he threw the sauce into the onions.
Ik bro
made in his own home by himself, thats homemade. not everyone grows their own tomatoes or can fly to italy to collect fresh tomatoes from there
Do you add a dash of sugar to cut down the acidity of the tomatoes
You specialize in clean comfort cooking but do not wear apron.
You lost me at canned tomatoes.
i just lost interest whn you used canned tomatoes
If youre buying tomatoes in a can you might as well buy the sauce from the next aisle.
very basic
Please just use your hands
Go vegan
You were fine until the oregano
This is not fresh 😢 can tomatoes are never fresh.

What is wrong with your altitude?
So after cooking are you saying you can let it cool down, put it in a glass jar and put it in the freezer
Taste better because I made it? You haven’t had any of my cooking bro!
