Feral druids will also need to farm MCP’s. Manual control pummelers from Gnomer. 3x charges, increases atk speed by 30% for 30 secs . Cat form gets 0.7 atk speed for 90 seconds, if needed.
Hey punkrat, love your vids! Could you do a vid about rep rewards? Each of the battleground factions, other rep, how hard it is to get each etc? Thanks man, keep it up!
Ancient Hakkari Manslayer and other on-hit procs definately scaled with spellpower back in vanilla. i had a for fun offspecc build centered around that on my shaman back in the day.
Alcor's is not even close to bis for a Vanilla tank. You need a wep with a static amount of + def if you aren't defense capped which is hard to accomplish for warriors before T2. Second. If you worry about rage generation ? then + hit or a + 5ish to weapon skill is better and the + hit will help to land sunders, taunt and shield slam. Alcor's is a bis offhand for rogues in certain pve fights and close to bis for "spell power rogues" if i remember correctly. Spell power rogues were a big thing in Vanilla, at least in BG's for additional fun and to bewilder opponents and they fucking pwned. Tanking with Alcor's on privates was a FAD and a fashion choice ( - Hey look I really played Vanilla because I'm currently using Alcor's ) but in Classic ( where bosses will have a 14 % base parry ) it's a good way to get destroyed by allowing the boss to parry once every second. Further issues. Alcor's is widely accepted by guilds as a "good tank wep" because it lowers the competition for gear. Melee dps has the most players to roll against before taking into account hybrids, hunters and tanks, so any strategy to fool tanks to not roll for an item was instantly popularized and the identical scamming will happen again. The funniest thing about maxing the effectiveness of gear in Vanilla is that large masses of players get it a 100 % wrong, even after 15 years and regardless of how much ( or how little ) that they played when WoW was new. Heart of Wyrmthalak isn't bis versus boss level mobs as it should have a 30ish % to resist ( or immunity ) and it's not good in pvp until everyone has AQ gear because there is a lot of people with fire resist in BG's before that and melee characters have zero spell penetration. It's currently unknown how much of the original mechanics that will be applied to "spell procs" but I hope that Blizzard will get this right and Wyrmthalak's trinket will be good but situational. In conclusion. Hearth of Wyrmthalak is better the higher crit that your melee character has ( thus lowering the lost effectiveness of the + 2 crit trinket ) and it's better vs trash mobs that are under a level of 61. When it comes to crit ( and other strange mechanics ) the "power creep" is simultaneously REVERSED making for some immensely complicated math. In pvp, it's not worth using against someone that has MOTW and a couple of pieces of T2, onyx neck etc. that easily buffs the fire resist to + 80. Same issue with rogues who want to duel a smart Paladin. By the end of Vanilla it's easy for a Pala to negate all of the micro spell procs from melee classes ( including poisons ) while not losing any armor/stam values but a bit of damage potential. Not many players did this but once people wake up to resist sets for duel tournaments, they will realize how brutally effective it was and it will probably get banned for streaming purposes.
As an old school vanilla warrior with more negative DKP than you can comprehend I must say literally any sword with 60+ dps will be more enjoyable than that shitbird Halberd from ZG. It actually didn't proc much, sword spec would proc more often and sword spec procs could proc other on hit effects as well as being modified by stats unlike the Halberd decapitate.
The feral druid bit I find quite interesting because I was toying with the idea of playing one. It's kinda difficult to find information on feral trinkets though. None of the sites I looked at mention proc trinkets like the heart as bis or high priority for ferals, so im wondering would you consider it more important or effective than trinkets such as hand of justice or blackhands?
The way the stars align sometimes when it comes to melee combat... Ran a Strat UD pug in Classic sometime ago, had a tank with HoJ and Ironfoe. Horde group, so shaman with WF as well...he pulled Rammstein the Gorger and deleted like 20% of his HP in 2 seconds - think all the extra attacks proced from HoJ, Ironfoe and WF at the same time, it was funny.
One item no one is talking about, blackblade of shahram. The add provides 25% attack speed buff. +50 to all stats. AOE stun and damage. MP/5. The add only despawns when killed. The add turns a fury warrior into a farming machine.
the MC first weapon has 1.05 attack speed then in procs, but you done seem to have any clue on how Rage generation actually works. Rage generation scales with how much dmg you hit for. A slow (2.4 speed) weapon usually generates more rage through it hiting harder meanwhile alcors for example has low dmg but a fast speed. The only reason you want a fast weapon as a tank is that when you're geting alot of rage through the boss smashing you hard, the more heroic strikes you can pump out cus its applied to your next auto attack; or when you're running a sick crit set +´shield and your fast weapon can crit ever 4th hit or more
Still have Halberd of Smiting from Vanilla. But never got Corrupted Ashbringer. Btw! Love your content and preperation videos for Classic. Will you make a video for usefull addons? (or there is one and i am blind and can't find it )
@Punkrat would edgemasters really be considered BiS on an Orc or Human warrior? Seems like they would only be BiS for race's that do not already have the increased skill or am I wrong?
i remember when i started wow classic and i was a noob. I was playing Halbert of smiting and my off or GM say to me to switch for dal rend. So i gone duel wield and i just sell halbert, and the fact is halbert was a lot better even more in horde side
You were talking gold in large sums on some of those items. There not be any amounts floating around like that for a long while. This game will be nothing like the privet servers. There was so much that they got very wrong
hey punkrat, nice video! when you talked about alcors sunrazer, you stated that fast attackspeed results in higher rage generation. this is wrong, please check the classic warr rage generation formula. theres a bluepost about it from back then. cheers!
What makes Alcors sunrazor so good is the ability to pop ragepotion on the pull and dump 1.3 attack speed heroic strikes into the target. Generally if you're gonna lose aggro on a boss it will happen on the pull because your attack misses/gets parried glancing etc etc. having a fast attack speed means even if your first hit misses the second source of damage is coming quickly afterwards allowing you to start generating threat quicker in an emergency. In speedrun guilds it's not uncommon to use the dagger on the pull and swap to a slower weapon once threat is established.
Didn't we have like 7 lvl's for the poisons, lvl 7 being the highest and needed to upgrade through the trainer? If I remember correctly, it was max lvl 4 for the Crippling Poison and max lvl 7 for the other two.
Heart of wyrmthalak is gonna be part of the new best enhancement shaman DPS spec : on hit spell damage enhancement. Blazefury medallion, storm gauntlets, wyrmthalak, any items, armor or weapons that scale with spell damage. It has the potential to shit all over any 2h windfury spec for DPS. It's quite similar to spell retadin in itemization.
One of the best feral druid weps is 'lvl 34 Manual Crowd Pummeler' from Gnomeregan (if you are willing to farm it after it runs out of charges, it will be well worth). It has 15 str and 5 agi (but what you really want is) Use: Increases attack speed by 50% for 30 seconds (only 3 charges, but it's worth to see the half sec atking).
For people who don't know weapon speed was changed late vanilla so likely hood is alcors sucks for anyone and the aggro would be bad compared too knowing damage is aggro and alcor dose have as much less as pretty much almost all swords. Private servers weren't sure if normalization was a tbc or maybe they kept it in not knowing when it was but from what I've heard people watch out and test first
Great vid! I would apreciate it, if u would focus more on items, that are not acquired in raids or are random world drops. It would be great if u would give some kind of a guide how to BIS equip most effectivly. Like Run LBRS as Priest and if u dont get those items, there are items XX-YY u can get instead. I think most players wont play as long or intense to be able to farm raids to get their BIS items... Thanks
Halberd of Smiting was the first Epic weapon I ever obtained from a raid. It's always been my favorite looking weapon and I kick myself every day for selling it back in Wrath because for some reason or another, I can't have it restored by a GM. I envy those that still carry one
Alcor's Sunrazors power is really in the fact that you can spam Heroic Strike faster when ragecapping against a boss, thus generating more rage... otherwise it's quite average
Similar to the polearm, I had the Drake Fang Cleaver from BWL, when I got it I went back to my AB rep grind to exhaled, I noticed the dmg proc would crit a lot. I was 2h fury in vanilla and I noticed a huge difference from dropping my Obsidian Blade for that. When you're in top end dps gear from MC and BWL for plate wearers, those dmg procs can absolutely wreck other players or just dps in general
It's a common misconception that fast weapons generate more rage (unless you have Unbridled Wrath talent). The rage generation is just smoother. The reason why fast weapons are preferred is that on fights where you have lots of excess rage you can do more heroic strikes with a faster weapon. For example in Vael this is really great because you have endless rage.
Hey Punkrat. Is the position with fast tanking weapons still viable with Blizzard announcing that bosses have 14% parry rate? Aren't tanks gonna suffer more damage due to Parry-Haste Mechanics?
Spellpower has always scaled poison damage. Just search for spellpower rogues, was pretty popular at varying times based on fotm. However, it was never a very popular raid spec as you dont have the hit needed to be competitive.
One of the bosses in Deadmines. Smotts drops green called smotts reaver(1h axe). It's really nice weapon for paladin with seal of righteousness. If you're too lazy to go for Verigans fist. This 1h will be nice for a while.
That first item.. The heart should scale with spell power where the dark moon card does not.. I believe this is what makes this item secret strong for melee dps that might have some spell power in their gear like pvp and aq druid sets or the aq set for paladins.. Don't count out the pvp set for shamans too
Alcor was busted on Nostalrius because warrior's rage generation was bugged and they were getting way more rage than they were supposed to, so they were able to spam heroic strike with it. It's still a good weapon for Vaelastrasz or if you need Fire resistance early on.
When I've played on private servers the Heart of Wyrmthalak was always laughed on and I have myself vendored it two times as a rogue because of this. However it seems from this video to be better than Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom from the proc rate??
Nice video! But I've heard that rage generation from fast weapons over harder hitting weapons is only higher on private realms. I mean the 1.3 attack speed is not BiS on retail because private realms don't have the same build as classic :)
Be careful with chance on hits though. We dont know official classic proc rates for those items. Complete overpowered items could become useless if the proc is 1% instead of estimated 5%.
Hey Punkrat, great vid. Another one to add to the weapon skill items : Expert Goldminer’s helmet. A little lower level, but the +axe skill can be worth it even for end game raiding if you get a nice axe like Deathbringer.

Private servers weren't sure if normalization was a tbc or maybe they kept it in not knowing when it was but from what I've heard people watch out and test first
Edgemaster handguards "Underrated" lmao
Edgemasters never been underrated item..
When I've played on private servers the Heart of Wyrmthalak was always laughed on and I have myself vendored it two times as a rogue because of this. However it seems from this video to be better than Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom from the proc rate??
No its crap
Nice video! But I've heard that rage generation from fast weapons over harder hitting weapons is only higher on private realms.
I mean the 1.3 attack speed is not BiS on retail because private realms don't have the same build as classic :)
0% for casters.. so... a waste of time
You can shit into Catform while already being in Catform with the right macro btw. Don't need to spend a GCD coming out and going back in.
Be careful with chance on hits though. We dont know official classic proc rates for those items. Complete overpowered items could become useless if the proc is 1% instead of estimated 5%.
Hey you said you were in Pleasuretown Adventures on Nost, were you also in PTA on feenix warsong alliance ?
Sorry for a newbie question. But can shamans use polearms? If so the halbard of smite could be fun for enchance :D
Christian Johansson i played shaman on a tbc private server and don’t remember being able to use polearms so probably no
@@janiskampars4350 ah, to bad ^^
I am new to your channel but your videos are helping me and getting me absolutely hyped for Classic. Instant subscribe! Thank you Punkrat 🤘
pleasuretown adventures wow that brings back fond memories.....i was on horde feenix side DRAGONKILLERS FROM FOREST
What if ferals used Herat of wyrmthalak with mcp's rolling? crazy proc chance?
Why is this 17 minutes long wtf
Hey Punkrat, great vid. Another one to add to the weapon skill items : Expert Goldminer’s helmet. A little lower level, but the +axe skill can be worth it even for end game raiding if you get a nice axe like Deathbringer.
The Barov Peasant Collar is super underrated. And who ever thinks it’s trash to just vendor it obviously don’t go ganking.
This video is awesome, it is a great reminder for those of us who played 2004 and have Not played private servers. I remember a lot of this stuff now. Please keep making this content
Punkrat, your job is amazing i realy enjoy watching your videos. I learn a lot and your content is accessible and very useful. Keep on working like this you're helping the whole community !
